I came here last night with some co worker to celebrate a birthday, I loooved the atmosphere here! the lantern lights were so pretty. It is on the smaller side but I didn’t feel smashed in the corner. I was amazed I had never heard of this place before considering I live and work close by. I consider myself the foodie of my family and friends so I’m always on the hunt for the best places but apparently my skills have been lacking. Okay now for the food: We ordered the mole tots to start with. Now, normally I not the biggest fan of mole because I don’t like when its overly sweet so I usually avoid it. When they arrived, I at least had to try them because they looked pretty good. Best decision ever. They were really good, not overly sweet, just the best mole I’ve ever had. And of course it didn’t hurt that there was plenty of cheese and sour cream on top. For drinks, I had the Mango con chile. Tequila is my favorite so I knew I couldn’t go wrong. It comes with a mango chile lollipop on top which of course is a bonus. The chimoy and tajin were the perfect touches to complete the drink. Perfect. I had decided to go with the taquitos de papa because I really could not make up my mind with so many good looking item on the menu but I seen that these were served with avocado salsa?! Enough said. When they arrived not only did they look great, they tasted even better! Super fresh, not every greasy, and not over sauced so they were still crispy. After that, it was all over. There is no helping me now. I’m officially addicted.

From the moment you park your car you will be mesmerized with the delicious smell of Mexican food. When you enter the restaurant, you’ll see the lady making fresh tortillas. The service was not very attentive and rushed but the busboy was very nice. The place is a bit dark and the chairs are not that comfortable and dated but I was pleasantly surprised at the food selection. I had the: Amor Chile Relleno Burger Special blend of ground angus, short rib, brisket, & sirloin, chile relleno de queso, red leaf, tomato onion jam, garlic mayo, brioche bun, tater tots Arroz Con Leche Crème Brulee Arroz con leche, cinnamon, burnt sugar crust Charred Brussels Sprouts Lime, cotija, roasted garlic aioli, red wine vinaigrette Ceviche De Camarone Crisp tostadas, lime marinated shrimp, roasted garlic aioli, tomato, cucumber, avocado, cilantro, onion Elote Man Corn Roasted corn, mayo, cotija, chile powder, cilantro Sopa De Fideo Toasted pasta, chicken, broth, tomato, garlic, queso fresco Mango chili margarita Taquitos De Papa Potato and queso Oaxaca, spinach and cilantro, avocado salsa, crema, queso cotija and arugula fennel salad

This place is called Amor y Tacos yet their tacos were nothing to rave about. We came here for a reunion dinner with some friends. We ordered 2 rounds of drinks and we all had tacos with family style beans and rice. The Al Pastor Tacos(my favorite kind) were completely flavorless. How is this possible? The only good thing about them were the tortillas hechas a mano(tortillas made fresh in-house). The drinks were flavorless too. We ordered a regular Margarita and a La Sandía drink. I expected the latter to have more of a flavor punch. After you get through the paleta there isn’t much left for the drink. Flavorless. Disappointing. The house salsa was a disappointment too. Although it was spicy it had no flavor. The chips(tostadas) were good because they’re made in-house, not store bought. However, I keep staying boggled every time I visit«Mexican» or Mexican-inspired establishments yet they can’t seem to get right the staples of our food… like salsa. It also seems like they are not well prepared for a full house. Waiters came by about 3x times to take things from of us. They took our stirrer from our margarita jar even though we weren’t done with it. Ok… After reviewing some negative reviews I came across Unilocalers interactions with the owner. What a petty man. Rude and childish. Not coming back here. So in short, the best thing about our visit was the tortillas a mano, the tostadas(chips) and the music. Sigh.
