Origami in the Garden… This is so out of the way, you really have to make an effort to go there, but it is absolutely worth it. For a suggested donation of $ 10 you can enter the gardens. If you want a free guided tour, someone will walk you through and explain the art. If you want to do it alone, they have a nice guide to read as you admire. On a sunny day they will lend you a parasol. The tours ends in typical exit through the giftshop fashion with a few t-shirts, books art and origami-related articles for sale. It is among our favorite things we did during our Santa Fe and Taos trek.

This place is a true treasure, and if you’re on the turquoise Trail it’s definitely not to be missed Natalie was our guide and she made the experience so much more exciting. She shared many antidotes about the artist and the creation of the work on view as well as a bit of history on the area. What the artist has created is really quite remarkable and the setting is truly magical. It’s a world away from the busy heart of Santa Fe and yet only about a 30 minute drive. Bring your camera, you won’t be sorry

We stopped at the Turquoise Trail Sculpture Garden on our way to Santa Fe to view the«Origami in the Garden» exhibition. Despite the 105 degree heat, it was well worth the stop. We took a guided tour with Natalie as our tour guide. I am so glad that we went with the guided tour because she provided so much information that we would have never gotten otherwise. We heard stories about almost every piece in the exhibition. The juxtaposition of the sculptures in the desert landscape is so special. The garden itself is very tranquil even though it is located along the highway. We also visited the studio and got to see Kevin Box, the artist, working on some pieces. We also met his wife and collaborator. She was so welcoming and took quite a bit of time talking to us. I was impressed by the exhibition and the garden beyond my expectations. Highly recommend a visit before the exhibition closes in October
