Perfection in lattes! The owner is a former espresso machine salesman and really really knows how to make a top notch drink. Cheese selection to die for. Currently in my fridge is the stinkiest blue ever! Go taste it. It’s mind meltingly funky. Great service, never judged when I drive my rust bucket up to the front door. Not cheap, for sure, but great quality isn’t cheap.

What an awesome cheese shop. I went here from my daughter’s recommendation and I am so glad I did. The owner and his employees have such enthusiasm to show you all of the different things they offer. I had the best prosciutto I have EVER tasted. It spoiled me though, because I will never be able to buy«big box store» cheeses again. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!

I have been coming to the Cheese Shop of Centerbrook for two years now. The assistance I receive is always spot-on. Through my stumbling descriptions, he is always able to discern the exact type of cheese I am craving. Not only that, but he goes out of his way to acquire rare and wonderful cheeses from Lithuania(IE, all over the world). He is very generous in his samples– and is very eager to share those cheeses with his clientele. What really sets this cheese shop above all competition is the plethora of cheese accouterments. From their well stocked charcuterie, to their exquisite baguettes– they have crackers, cookies, crisps, truffle oil, smoked sea sale and whatever other decadent whim you are feeling-the Cheese Shop of Centerbrook can provide. I am so happy to have this place in my home town!

Holy delicious cheese! I stopped in here after a business meeting and could not be more happy that I did! I don’t have a cheese shop near where I live so I’m glad I got to go. The staff was extremely helpful because I had no idea what I wanted. I decided to name a price and make a sampler of different cheeses. The girl asked me what I liked(everything) and made plenty of recommendations. She let me try quite a few things, a few of which I did buy. I got a great mix of cheeses from Brie to Bleu to a cheese that comes from Lithuania that you can only get here. I’m so glad that they have a website and will ship to me in Illinois! There’s no way I can eat all this cheese tonight so I’m going to have to figure out if I can take it on the plane!

Best baguettes I’ve had. Great cheese, everything is beautiful. I visited on a Saturday and loved it so much I went back in the evening for more. Too bad they were out of baguettes. But they were not out of cheese, nuts, etc. Go here, it’s great.

The Cheese Shop of Centerbrook is THE place to go. We love cheese but aren’t experts — they are and are more than willing to give suggestions and samples. One taste of the Brie and you’ll know you shouldn’t buy cheese from the grocery store. Bread, crackers, olives, and meats are also available. I love this shop.

Absolutely fabulous! These people know what they are doing. Don’t worry about feeling overwhelmed by the selections. I am a total novice when it comes to cheese. I know that I like cheeses but not much more than that. Paul and Sue along with their employees are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They put everyone at ease immediately. They’ll offer up tasty samples of their latest acquisition, a personal favorite or whatever you request.(I highly recommend their most popular cheese, a deliciously aged Gouda called Beemster XO). On one particular visit they had just received a fresh delivery from Scotland of smoked wild salmon. Yum! I immediately added some to my order. They also have an assortment of cured meats like prosciutto, pancetta, and even Soppersatta . After checking out their website I found out Cheese Shop prepares party platters and gift boxes which may include(in addition to the cheese) olives, vinegar, olive oil, cornichons, water crackers, etc. and they ship, too! If you need a good hostess gift you can’t go wrong with gift box, a brie baker, or one of a number of other gifts for the cheese lover in your life — even if that’s you. :) If you cook/bake they also have Crème Fraiche, French butter, Irish butter, fresh Mozzerellas and Marscapone. I recently discovered that they also sell brewed coffee and are becoming my new coffee stop on Saturday mornings. Way less expensive than DD or Starbucks but if all you want is a plain old good cup o Joe… the coffee is really good. If you catch them at the right time you may also be able to get one of their handmade buttery scones. If you miss out on it Paul & company will be happy to provide you with frozen ones you can bake up at home. So, there you have it. No doubts about this place. If you love cheese you just HAVE to check them out, Don’t forget to pick up a fresh baguette or two or three to go along with the yummy selection you’re guaranteed to take home. On your way out stop by Bob’s Package Store right next door for a nice bottle of wine and your party is complete.

What an AWESOME place to go! I was asked to help Sheri find a place to put together a quality cheese and cured meat plate for her upcoming nuptials. This mission allowed me to research cheese shops in the state – the problem was finding a place that had a good selection of both cheese and meat so we didn’t have to make two separate stops! I really hit the jackpot when I found this store. The owners were fantastic – took their time in showing us different options for platters, how much to plan per person and the most important part – sampling! We tried a brie, swiss, cheddar, goat cheese, etc. all with fancy names from all different parts of the world. Then he brought out some prosciutto and a few other top quality cured meats to accompany our selections – really good stuff. The store was relatively busy with a steady stream of customers who have clearly kept this gem a secret all for themselves. The store carries a nice selection of jarred olives, peppers and spreads along with a variety of crackers to enhance your tasting plate. I enjoyed how knowledgeable the staff was in explaining anything we had questions on. With a foodie item such as cheese, you really have to know what you’re doing to keep your customer base, and this place seems to be doing just great! Prices are on par to most other cheese places I’ve been to also, which is important. Discovering new places like this excite me – and you’ll love it too!

I have found my Valhalla, and can now die a happy woman. If you know me at all, you know my two favorite food related things in life are a) wine and b) CHEESE. I LOVECHEESE, and I know I don’t stand alone when it comes to my passion for fromage. The Cheese Shop of Centerbrook is by far one of the most amazing cheese shops I’ve ever been in, not only because the selection is so extensive that you may feel your brain swell from having to decide on what you’d like, but because the service and knowledge that is provided while visiting is the BEST. Walk in and you’re greeted with a smile and a question that will make any cheese lover weak in the knee’s «Hi there… would you like to sample something?» In my mind, the only answer I have is «Does a bear sh*t in the woods? OFCOURSE!». When facing what I like to call«The Great Wall of Cheese-na», you’re literally looking at every major variety in the world… Brie, Blue, Comte, Gruyère, Morbier, Raclette, Piave, Stilton, Wensleydale, Huntsman, Rouge Affinee, Bucheron, Chaumes… and that’s just the beginning! Anything you could desire to enjoy with cheese is also available for purchase including pâté, sliced cured meats, crackers, compote and jams, olives, oils and balsamic glaze… everything! If you’re ever looking for a place to prepare a gorgeous cheese assortment or charcuterie board for a party or gathering, TCSOC can whip one up for you in no time, and it will look PHENOMENAL. When cheese is your thing, trust me when I say, this place is well worth the visit.
