My son has been involved in Storm soccer for two seasons now. The first, when he was four, went well, since the team just met on Saturdays for about 45 minutes and they had combination practice/games with the kids once a week(perfect for a 4 year old). This season he played on a U6 team, where they have a practice during the week and a game on the weekend. First, the fee of $ 175(on top of the uniform I have to buy) is really expensive for what you get, given that they don’t have professional/trained coaches for the team. But on top of that the nature of having volunteer coaches leads to missing practices/games with no backup plan. We ended up missing two games this season with no make-ups! For the high fee you pay for this league there should be professional coaches and set plans in place if a coach can’t make a practice/game.

I desperately wish we had other soccer options in Castle Rock. This is our 3rd year with them. This association is incredibly poorly run in terms of logistics around team set up and the lack of communication of logistics to parents and players. However, if there is a camp or additional training that costs extra, parents are bombarded with emails to encourage kids to sign up. The website isn’t any better. It is confusing to navigate and provides almost zero need to know information for participants. Furthermore, last year our son was on a team where the coach refused to change positions for players. I thought this was a recreational league where the love of the game was to be cultivated. I struggle to find the benefit in this assocation.

We moved here from California where our daughter played AYSO soccer just like I did growing up for 12 years. Coming out to Colorado they have no AYSO so we signed her up to try out for the Colorado Storm competitive program. WHAT A MISTAKE! The coaches are rude, the parents are snobby and let’s not even get into how much it costs. Soccer should be fun for kids and it should not be a business. We are paying 3 times as much for her to play soccer out here as we were in California and she’s in recreational now. Your choices are somewhat limited as to where they can play soccer so I suggest you look around and choose wisely. We are kind of stuck with Storm since they are right down the street and we’re not going to be driving all over town.
