My wife and I went here after getting a $ 20 off coupon in the mail, as I imagine a number of people did, cause what a deal, right? Full disclosure — we are total Sushi-and-Izakaya-Den loyalists, so any new sushi place is a hard sell, but it doesn’t stop us from trying. There was a wait when we got there and we decided to stick it out on the bar side, which was a very cool space: Godzilla wall, sake barrels, and Zhang Yimou’s «Hero» playing behind the bar. We actually liked it so much we decided to pass up on our table when it was ready and stay in the bar, where the service was also excellent and fast for how busy it was when we got there. We started with the Partly Cloudy sake flight and shishito peppers, which were two items we’d get again. The peppers were just awesome — I would eat those every day, all day. The sake flight was fun and good, and I thought a good value to try three different styles, and they are all indeed very different. The itchy salmon appetizer came out next. It’s a nice piece of baked salmon on a bed of «spicy crab,» but be warned, it is imitation. Personally, though it’s a little unrefined, I actually like imitation crabmeat, but the real thing’s certainly worlds better. My wife’s not a fan though, so she didn’t really like that app. Onto the sushi… A couple of standouts were the fatty salmon, toro, and red snapper(though I wouldn’t have known the fatty salmon from the regular had it not been identified by the server). The snapper was probably my favorite — it was light and delicate with a hint of smokiness and had a nice big wad of wasabi underneath it. Almost reminded me of snapper I had at Nobu in Vegas a few years ago that totally knocked my socks off. The kampachi sashimi was good and tasted fresh, and the red onion slivers worked well to round out the bite. My main complaint about all the nigiri was the rice — it was gummy and pasty to the point it would stick to your teeth, and there was just too much of it. So you’d get a good piece of fish but the bite was just dominated by the rice, both in flavor and the unpleasant texture of it. Probably the worst offender was the scallop, which by itself was sweet and fresh, so it was a real shame it had to be wrapped with a large puck of gummy rice. The only place it seemed to work was as a negligible outer layer of the Spanish Fly roll, but that roll had more of that«spicy crab» in it, so I don’t think either of us was very impressed either way. Overall, yes, we would go back. There were a few things that we really enjoyed and would get again, a couple others that were safe bets, but I can’t see revisiting half of what we ordered. They really need to work on their rice and/or the portion size of it per piece, but maybe they were having an off night in that department, so I’ll give them another chance. Great service and cool bar.

Good Sushi but over priced for what you get. The happy hour was probably the best deals they have — but there are more affordable and just as delicious sushi places near by. The other issue was the staff seemed to know zip about the menu. Sorta important for a new restaurant.

There are a few reasons this location deserves five stars: 1. The atmosphere feels so authentic that you’ll start wondering if you’re still in an American sushi restaurant. Their design looks and feels amazing. The place is decorated with large sake containers(which is reminiscent of a Japanese offering to the Gods) 2. The service is superb. I am a huge fan of the volcano roll. When I saw they didn’t have it, they quickly suggested creating a custom order for me. They created their version of the volcano roll, and even gave it to me for free. 3. The sushi is pretty good. Of particular note, if you are a vegetarian then this is the perfect place for you. I have only been to a dozen or so sushi restaurants and the veggie rolls here definitely top the list. Happy eating, my friends!

Came here for my dates birthday! Literally best service I have ever had. Answered all of our annoying questions very politely. The sushi was so good, very creative and very filling. I’ve come here 4x since August and I’m never disappointed!

This was our first time trying Blue Sushi Sake Grill, as it was recommended by a friend. Boy, I’m sure glad we did! I love the ambiance; it’s very modern and fresh. The booth was really comfortable and I loved the vibe. But the best part was the sushi itself! Since I’m pregnant I opted for the non raw roles and there were many to choose from. Their tempura is extremely light and not greasy like other types I’ve had. The service was great! We were there for lunch and got the lunch special pricing which was a phenomenal value! I can’t say enough good things. Give this place a try.

I have been picking up sushi here for the past 6 months and driving from Highlands Ranch. My family decided to take me out for my birthday dinner here tonight and I questioned whether it was a good place to take a family with 3 children under 6! Not only was it very family friendly with lots of strollers and children, but the food was just as delicious as always and the atmosphere casual. We eat sushi weekly and this is one of our favorites for cost, flavor and freshness! Definitely check out their Happy Hour sushi prices.

I frequent Blue Sushi off of 16th Street Mall since I work over there. My fiancée invited me over to this location. It was a quiet Sunday since the Broncos were playing. However, our waitress was amazing. Definitely a memorable experience. I’m not a huge fan of the super low seats, so I might do the bar or regular table next time. Food is fresh. Fish is great. Even their iced tea has a nice zing to it. Looking forward to our next experience!

Accessible sushi in a convenient location. We first experienced Blue Sushi Sake Grill at their downtown location through a Unilocal event. My wife having never really been exposed to sushi growing up has found their sushi to be accessible. Their happy hour menu is delicious and is a very good place to start. Take a section and start at the top and go down. Maybe swing back and try a couple a second time, and share. Their desserts are ok. Not great, not bad, ok. Nothing to write home about. Granted, when you think of a sushi restaurant, you don’t often follow up with, «And their desserts are amazing». Also, all of their desserts are very western friendly, not what I would have wanted.

Stoked to see that Blue Sushi has a location down south! I’m a huge fan of their happy hour so we stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon during the Broncos game. It was pretty empty, understandably so since football and sushi don’t go together like peas and carrots in most peoples minds. But there’s always time for sushi so bring it on! We sat in the bar, ordered a few rolls and appetizers from the happy hour menu, noshed, watched the game and chill. Their chicken lettuce wraps are one of my favorite things out there and an amazing deal for happy hour. They have cooked and raw rolls on special for $ 5.50 plus a number of other yummies and drinks. Plus when you check in on Unilocal there’s a free edamame offer. I can’t wait to come back again for happy hour, seriously one of the best deals in the area!

I am not a sushi fan, but my wife is, so for her birthday we went to this new eatery in a long-vacant corner of the Streets at Southglenn. And, y’know, it was pretty darned good. Drinks: Aside from a too-clever X-tini menu, there were some decent cocktails, a good beer list(bottle and draft), wine, and saki. All tried were good. Appetizers: Very tasty potstickers. Good edamame. Shared Plates: Jim and Ginger and Margie said the tempura(they ordered both shrimp and vegie) was excellent, very light. The lettuce wraps(both chicken and vegie) were also good, though they could have used a few more butterleaf lettuce leaves. Entrée: I had an extremely yummy shishito pepper tenderloin. Yum. Very yum. Enough to make be willing to come back and have it again. Sushi: Margie and Kay shared this. «It was good. A little on the American side, taste-wise. The tuna was not fully thawed.» The service was friendly, but a few mistakes occurred(quickly corrected). Service, because of the mix of sushi and shared plates and entrée, was somewhat chaotic. Overall, definitely worth a return visit in the future.

The best happy hour deals in town! The rolls are not your typical sushi place rolls, fancier more Americanized, whether that’s a minus or perk is your decision. Hot popper roll and Snow White are some of our faves. Definitely worth trying, Especially for the happy hour! Food that you’ll crave weeks later. However, I will say that the quality has declined since they have opened. At first, we saw sushi chefs checking rolls before they went out. The rolls now are vey inconsistent. Some have fish, some don’t. Some have all of the ingredients, some don’t. Bummer, we still come back though.

Reverse Happy Hour on the Weekend? Yes, please! I’m not sure when Southglenn died, but RIP. At 10pm on a Saturday, during Labor Day Weekend, the only places open were Blue Sushi Sake Grill and Bar Louie. Well, we chose the right one to get a nightcap at because they had Reverse Happy Hour with discounted drinks & food! I love Sake and Sake Cocktails are a guilty pleasure. They had two on their happy hour list and I chose the one recommended by our server which had cucumber infused vodka and nigori sake. It was delicious. I’m so glad this place is here. I have had great food at the other location, downtown. So, I will definitely have to keep this place in mind when in the Southern Burbs ;)

Hmmm… I may be in the minority here but we found Blue Sushi just OK. We dropped in during their extensive happy hour(12 – 8 on Sundays!) and tried a variety of dishes. We very much enjoyed the Shishito peppers and the ceviche is pretty good and a great deal on HH for $ 6. The chicken satay is also really flavorful and an excellent choice for HH. The Negi Hama roll was OK– basic but good. It delivered. The Itchy Salmon did not impress us and the Tuna Tataki was not good at all. It was as though it had been plated several hours prior. The sauce(what there was of it) did not taste like garlic or sesame and the tuna was cold and tasteless. Not at all what you want from a dish like that. For drinks, Hubs tried the margarita(I know– seriously?) it was horrible as one would expect. He said it’s the worst he’s ever had anywhere. So there you go. I had the sake sangria which was pretty good– especially if you like sake. I also tried the Dirty Blue Martini because hellow– blue cheese stuff olives? But I think they must have been months old or stored in a freezer. Again, no taste to the olives at all. This location is really convenient to us so we will likely return at some point but we are not in a hurry.

Blue Sushi Sake Grill is definitely making its presence known in Colorado. The downtown Denver location is one of my favorites and this second location is just as eclectic. I stopped in during their first week of business and found the space modern and unique, with a huge wall adorned with sake barrels. It’s spacious and includes tables, a bar, and couches! The excellent music choice is also a huge plus. The River Rock Tenderloin started off the night well with tasty beef sizzling on hot rocks. The sushi rolls were our main dinner selections and were fresh and well-balanced with various flavors. The Snow White roll(with its distinctive soy paper wrapping) was especially delicious. I really enjoyed the fact that the fish to rice ratio was spot on for all of the rolls. If you are a sake drinker, the nice selection of sake will appease any specific type of flavor profile. The staff is all new, so service did fluctuate throughout the night. However, I was really digging how knowledgeable everyone was about the menu, since I have a shellfish allergy. Happy Hour is an awesome time to try out the menu at deeply discounted prices but with the same high quality(especially with a late-night happy hour on the weekends). A great addition to the Streets of Southglenn!

I think I still woke up in a sushi coma this morning… Last night was an opportunity to sample any item on the menu and give back to charity at the same time. It was win-win and also shows where the hearts of the owners are — I’ll give my business to them any day. We started with the famous blue balls, a tuna tower, ceviche, crab cakes and river rock beef tenderloin. The ceviche definitely has a kick to it and we quickly ran out of chips, the crab cakes had generous portions of lump crab meat and the beef tenderloin was thinly sliced perfection. We also had the lobster with gold tobiko — it was flavorful. We moved onto sashimi to pace ourselves — with some of the standouts being off of the new style menu. One of my favorites was the amberjack with shallots, olive oil, and a pinch of sea salt. Topped with cherry tomato and thinly sliced it was truly melt in your mouth. The Ringo had green apple, sweet potato chips and Greek yogurt with a thick slice of yellowtail. Others at the table enjoyed the snapper with chimichurri sauce — it had almonds on it so it was a no go for us. The Yelloewtail Serrano was a fan favorite as well as well as the peppered tuna with a garlic sea same sauce. Everything was super fresh. Big eye tuna, torched fatty tuna, fatty salmon, diver scallops, sea urchin and black tuna rounded out the sashimi. We learned that one should only eat a small portion of the black tuna dipped in squid ink or the ink could upset your stomach. And still we kept going — did I mention it was a party of 7? Some bowed out while others went onto rolls including the fiesta, roja and Spanish fly. I kind of lost track after that as I was full and in awe that anyone still had room left. The space is large and decorated similarly to the downtown location — I love the Godzilla wall. There were some cool couches in the lounge area where you can also eat and a good patio space. The staff was friendly and inviting and truly knew the menu inside and out. They have a two week training period. The philosophy being that a lot of people ask their servers to order for them or have allergy concerns — the more knowledge they have the better they can serve their customers. Parking is on the street or the parking garage located a short walk away.
