I’ve written about this place before, but my opinion over time has changed. If you want to exercise your dog, this is not the place to go. It is fairly well visited at weekends, but the people that go there, just sit at the bench near the entrance and complain about the government/weather. They simply don’t exercise their dogs. Meanwhile, their dogs quickly get bored, they wander off from their owners and get into trouble elsewhere. I’ve seen MANY fights here. If you want to exercise your dog off leash, go to Chatfield dog park. Much larger, much safer environment for your dog.

We take our 1 year old lab to this bark park because it is convenient to our home. My biggest complaint is that it is mostly dirt so if it rains, there is no bark park and that is never fun for the pup. The park is divided into 2 sections but more often than not, only one section is open. Right now, the section without the canopies is open, however, there is little shade regardless so keep that in mind if it is a hot day. Overall, we do enjoy it and there is always a wide range of dogs there daily so the dogs always have a great time!

I’m really not sure how I feel about the Bark Park. My two American Eskimo dogs and I met the rest of our volunteer organization, Eskie Rescuers United, at the park last Saturday for a get-together. There’s a nice-sized parking lot to the right of the park — which I liked since the further away the lot is, the less chance of a random get-away dog getting hurt. There’s a double door on the way in — a mini coral with two doors so that you are essentially entering the park through a holding place — again to prevent off-leash dogs from accidentally running out through the door. This is a dirt park with minimal trees, but it is very large. There is water available but it hadn’t been turned on yet(obviously it is turned off during the winter). The park is basically a huge open space of dirt on a hill, which doesn’t sound appealing, but our dogs seemed to enjoy it.
