Having a local distillery is a rarity, especially one that produces such smooth, refined alcohols as an award-winning bourbon, a straight-drinking gin, or even a reposado tequila(technically not tequila, since it was made in America) and is so under-appreciated by most. The award won by the bourbon was 4th place out of nearly 300 other craft bourbons, many of which were aged 5+ years, as opposed to the 2yr aging done by Colorado Gold. In the near future, they plan on offering a 6 yr, which I suspect will be worth the wait. I took the tour as well as the samples of some of the most pleasurable brandy, corn whiskey, and vodka I have ever had the pleasure of introducing to my palate. I don’t recall all the liquors they make, but what you may see on the shelf in your liquor store is about half of what is produced in their high-elevation still. This place is certainly worth going out of your way to visit.
