We came here with our two young children on a Sunday afternoon. Really liked the atmosphere and the service was spectacular !!! The beer is pretty darn good also. The food, though, was okay at best. We ordered the Brussels sprout appetizer. Very tasty, but they came out lukewarm and some of them cold. I ordered the salmon, which was cooked perfectly, but the potatoes that came with them were old, dry and way way over cooked. I asked for another round of the potatoes, but they were exact same ones that came with my dinner. We also ordered a beirgarten salad– my husband didn’t realize there was no greens. He really didn’t care for it. My daughter had the kids cheeseburger, which was good. We plan on returning and trying something different because the service was outstanding and the beer was really good. Hoping the food is better next time!!!

This place is the best. I’ve been waiting until Xmas when I visit my in-laws to get to go and I was not disappointed. Their German beer is on point and I felt like they brought the German brewing style to the American beers as well. Their CPA was especially amazing. Their fried chicken is some of the best I’ve ever had, and I actually enjoyed the Brussels sprouts(thought that was impossible) The baked spätzle Mac was awesome. The cheese is slightly different from typical German Kase Spätzle but was actually better as it had more flavor. Every person at our table loved the food and had a great time. At one point our beer order got confused(the place was packed with people waiting) and the waitress just said«let’s get this right» and in a minute or two we all had the correct beer and they took back the wrong one. Fantastic experience. Can’t wait to go back.

They were fairly busy for a Thursday night, had a bit of a wait, but the staff was friendly and we enjoyed some beer while we waited. Nice big space, a little noisy, but not overwhelming. Pulled pork sandwich was good, as was their burger. Will try more specialized German food on our next visit. The Pilsner wasn’t anything special, but their blood, sweat and tears pale ale was good. Finished off the night with some of their Apple hand pies… now I’m in a food coma. Will be back again.

We stopped in for dinner last night and I was a little leery about the fact it had just opened. It was not overwhelmingly busy and there were no «first week kinks» that we noticed! We had the brussel sprout appetizer and the fritters– both good! The soup was amazing and side salad very good with bacon ranch. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich and it was AMAZING. They offered a few different sauces at the table to choose from, too. I had the spatzle entrée and it was delicious. It was very rich, creamy, and full of awesome flavor. All the food was beyond what we expected! Great selection, too. There were only three beers on tap, which was a slight disappointment. The two we tried were decent enough! Serve was great, very attentive and always around if you needed anything. The inside is decorated well and it is fun atmosphere. Looks to be a fun beer garden outback, too. There are lots of garage doors to open in the nicer months, which is an awesome attribute! Looking forward to visiting again for the food and hoping for some more beer on tap! All in all, a great spot!

My star rating is on the lower end because I was pretty disappointed to take the drive up to Cedar Springs to find out they only had three beers on tap. I understand completely that a lot goes into making a beer and maybe things didn’t go as planned but within the first month of being opened, I would at the very least expect five beers to try. Being able to give a variety to the client by serving a full flight, I think isn’t a lot to ask for. It was busy when I was there on a Saturday afternoon, which is great for them! That made me happy to see that people are loving the place. I cannot vouch for the food, because I only had the beer, but the offerings sounded delicious and unique stemming from their European roots. Overall this place seems great to bring the family and eat along the long community tables, sit at a high table to watch some sports or just hang out with some friends enjoying one another in the room off the main room. I think this place has a lot to offer and a great brewery for the community. I just would like to see them develop more beer varieties and get them pouring out of the draft lines!

Truth be told, I visited about one week after their opening. That being said, I’ll wait to try it again until they’ve been open about six months because I think they have some things to work out. The beer selection was limited and not very good. I’m not a fan of this German style of beer, but I couldn’t find anything I cared for. Two of the only three beers they had were almost identical. We asked for the beer sampler which consisted of four flights. They were out of the fourth beer so they substituted it with a cider without asking. Seemed kind of vinegary to me. The food sounded better than it was. The real flavor items(sauces, unique condiments) on the sandwiches were used too sparingly to make any impact, resulting in dry and bland food. The red flannel fries were tasty, kind of a mix between French Friesland and potato chips. The staff were friendly, but disorganized and a little overwhelmed. I’m very happy this place opened, but they have their work to do and I intend to give them some time to figure it out.

My visit here today was mostly to satisfy a preconceived opinion and morbid curiousity. I am a world traveller that has chased high end beer for the past 20 years including three trips to Germany, strictly to go beer hunting. I have visited Ayinger in Aying, Germany and Weihenstephaner in Freising, Germany, arguably the two best breweries in Germany. Here, I had three samples. First the Kusterer Heller Weisbier. Compared to the real deal Weihenstephaner Hefe Weizen, this had a slightly unrefined aftertaste with too much clove on the finish. Next, I had Kusterer Bohemian Pilsner. Decent, but not as good as its German equivalent, Bitburger Pilsner. Finally, I had the Pale Ale. This was the best of the three, but not a German style, which is probably the reason. I think it is similar in quality to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or Stone Pale Ale. UPDATE: I went here a second time in less than a week and I upgraded my rating from a 3 to a 4 because I thought the jäger schnitzel was excellent. It’s harder to find jäger schnitzel this good than beer of this caliber, so I’m pretty happy about this place now. Yup, I said it, I like the food even better than the beer.

This place is beautiful! Authentic German brewing feel with great beer and delicious food. The Kusterer Heller Weissbier and CS Blood Sweat & Tears Pale Ale are solid selections when it comes to beer. They have an amazing menu with German food alongside The Monstrosity Burger that will easily give you a culinary heart attack. Cedar Springs surely needed a venue that provides beer-fueled entertainment that revitalizes the downtown area. David made the right choice when opening this gorgeous brewery in Cedar Springs. Flannel on!
