Sauce Bar & Bistro

I have dined at Sauce twice already, both times for dinner and can’t wait to go back. The menu is seasonal for dinner and therefore, very small based on what is available locally.
The atmosphere: Modern and comfortable, Sauce maintains the unique character of the original building with exposed brick and industrial duct work. You can dress up or down depending on the occasion.
The food: Both times I have visited Sauce the food was perfection. I went for a prefix dinner on NYE and the price/​portions were very fair and delicious. Each time, I have had a steak dish and each time the meat was cooked perfectly with great care and consideration to the sides on the plate.
The drinks: Sauce offers a full bar, local and bottle beer and a decent wine selection. They have fun, crafty cocktails and decent prices on wine by the glass.
The service: I would give Sauce 5 stars for all of the above, however I think this is the only area that needs improvement. During our prefix dinner our server did not let us know they were out of the dessert listed on the menu right away until we all tried ordering it. Our wine pairing was not served with each course, but hurriedly sent out 2 – 3 glasses at a time with one course as they were behind. Both times at Sauce the service was patchy, however both servers were very friendly so it wasn’t terrible.
I hope those looking to have a great meal give Sauce a try in lieu of the chain restaurants so prevalent in Cedar Rapids. It’s a wonderful place, shop local and help support our CR businesses!

An impressive blend of flavors that tantalize every part of your tongue. When you can taste your meal as a whole and can enjoy every ingredient separately at the same time, it is called art.
It’s a Bistro. Prices as expected and well worth it!

Went to lunch on Saturday. Daughter #1 had the Vietnamese sandwich w pork belly, said it was «different» selected the fall salad as a side, didn’t get any walnuts. Daughter #2 selected the special, said it was Ok, I Picked the Reuben, it was bland and tasteless. Hot tea was good, Décor is scant, bathroom was freezing cold, try a space heater!!!
12÷12÷16 Lenny, daughter #2 attended your opening week this summer, wanted to give it another try. Our hunger was satisfied with the meal, it just wasn’t special. Thank you for replying to my review!
