I loved this place in high school, but in the years since I’ve moved it’s really gone down hill. I came in to see The Martian in 3D and the girl forgot to give me 3D glasses. I had to walk back and grab them. Audio and video was off for first 5 minutes, which they fixed right away before the movie started but was unsettlingly creepy. Popcorn is very stale. Kids that work here seem super unhappy.

I’m not sure what the other reviewers were thinking, because I thought this movie theater was great! Perhaps they have remodeled since the last review, but as my first «big city» movie experience, this theater didn’t disappoint. Everything is pricier than what I’m used to, but oh well. The staff was friendly, I was impressed by the inner building’s size, and the auditorium I was in had lovely wall designs. The sound was great, too. I would gladly go back!

Yuck. The place smelled like mildew and wet dog. We had to push our way through to get to our movie, since the 16 year old running the place had everyone in a big group waiting for a more popular movie that started later than the one we wanted to see. The bathroom was dirty. We had to push our way out through a huge crowd. Same 16 year old standing there with a stupid look on her face. The arm rest between our chairs was so broken down that every time one of us moved it sounded like metal on metal. I didn’t appreciate the 45 minutes of commercials and 12 (not kidding. I counted) previews before the movie, either. Eh. I’m never going back.

Judging by the auditorium my movie showed in, this theatre is in need of MAJOR updating. While the chairs were comfy and the floor relatively clean, the walls look gross with many stains and signs of age and the some of the ceiling tiles are missing with insulation hanging out! What a let down immediately upon entry. The audio isn’t terrible, but doesn’t compete with other area theaters. If the tickets were discounted I might consider revisiting, but I could pay the same price and get more luxury elsewhere!
Revision: 1÷8÷15: I have been back to this theater several times since my initial visit and other auditoriums are not in such bad shape. I’ll squeeze in 3 starts now, rather than 2. They don’t have enough staff during busy times (Friday and Saturday nights) and only open one side of the concessions at a time. Be sure to come early to get snacks. There is a bright side: movies starting between 4p-​530p are discounted at $ 5.75 for a «Super Matinée»! (Be sure to call the theater to confirm this if your banking on it as I’m sure it’s subject to change.)

I like this Movie theater better then the other side of town. It has cheaper tickets if you go between 4 and 6. Their popcorn also tastes better.

I remember when this place opened up, it was a palace compared to the other theaters in Cedar Rapids. It was the first theater-​style seating movie theater in Cedar Rapids.
We used to make the trip from NE to SW, just to watch movies here. I remember watching Star Wars Episode I here at midnight. Great experience.
Problem is, I don’t think they’ve put any effort into the upkeep of this theater.
The tickets you get are cheap receipt paper, and the person selling them tears them in half as you come in. Nobody to tear your tickets as you enter.
Each time we’ve gone (it’s right next to my house, what can I say?), there’s 1 very overwhelmed young man behind the concession stand, and it usually takes about 15 minutes to get to the front of the line.
The whole place is going to pot. In another few years, it’s officially going to be a dump. They’re losing customers to Wehrenberg in NE Cedar Rapids, and the theaters in Coralville, and I can see why.
It’s just a really sad place to go, not a fun atmosphere at all.

The movie theater across town is way better! It’s newer and the consesions are way better, more options on food and drinks this place is living in the past, they need to switch some stuff up here! There consessions are way more then other movie theaters I’ve been to.

I love this theatre because they have updated their chairs. All theatres are stadium seating and all films are digital. So it’s really nice and clear.
The prices are very reasonable especially if you go for a matinée showing. It’s $ 5.50 before 2:30 and $ 6.50 for shows before 6pm, even on the weekends!!!
This is my go-​to theatre!
Only thing I wish they would improve on is the food. It’s okay, but could be better.
