Unbelievable!!! I was recently in Cedar Lake for a visit and randomly asked one of your members if there were any museums in town. The subsequent visit and guided tour of this museum was one of the highlights of our trip to Indiana. Every room of the tour abounded in information — the barber shop was a tour on its own and it is tiny part of the experience. I wish I had caught the name of our Docent. She was AMAZING. Because I spent several years living in Brunswick as a child in the 60’s there was some special significance for me. But regardless of where you are from, or reside, I highly recommend the Red Cedars Museum.

I had the unique opportunity this past weekend to stumble upon a private tour of The Lake of the Red Cedars Museum, located in Cedar Lake Indiana. This gem of a building is located literally on the water of a sleepy little Indiana town. As I walked through the hallway of this multi function boarding house/converted hotel, I realized I had finally been able to see items throughout history that I had only read about. This museum, dedicated to the preservation and history of one of Cedar Lakes oldest business building blocks during the ice industry was filled with americana. Top to bottom. If you are a historical enthusiast and are into these kinds of things, please make time to see it and they ask for SOVERYLITTLE in donation that you should throw some extra money in the jar on your way out. It is a treasure, and a wonderful find for anyone to see.
