My 1st experience was good. My friend and I sat on the hibachi side and we ended up next to a lovely couple who happen to be regulars. When the chef arrived, I was assured that we got the best chef there. The chef gave a show; I wasn’t ready for the flames thought. I felt that heat all across my face! The onion soup was first and had great flavor. The salad was ok; the veggies & lettuce were crisp but there was way too much dressing. I went the seafood route and got the hibachi salmon & shrimp and it was very tasty. This place is busy. It is a small restaurant so get ready for subtle hints that it’s time to go so other people can be served LOL I’ll go back to try something that’s not on the hibachi menu

Ok so I had an awesome waitress named Jenny and she was kind and was very friendly. She helped me with the menu and I found the items I came in for. The food came out fast and was awesome. I will definitely be back to this location. Also, one lady was sick at a table next to where I was sitting and most of the staff came out to help her. She was ok and she stated that it had nothing to do with the food. She continued with her meal. The staff have been very responsive and helpful. Kudos to the staff!!! I would recommend and will be back.

The sushi just isn’t very good. but its priced like its going to be fantastic. I ordered a volcano roll, it was mostly ½ a raw onion chopped into huge slices. It had less California roll sushi pieces than the actual California roll. I was disappointed.

We sit in the bar and my husband has hibachi brought to the table. We love it because I LOVE the sushi and he loves the steak and lobster. We get the best of both worlds.

#1 sign you should run out of the sushi place you have no idea about where you’re about to order lunch– Me: do you have any dry cold sake? Waitress gives me puzzled look and comes back with a bottle. Me:yes, but is it dry? Have you ever had this one?(Pointing to the only other option) Waitress: oh, I don’t know. Dry? Me: oh, do you have anyone here who drinks sake who might know? Waitress: we aren’t Japanese here, we don’t drink sake And my roll sucked even worse than the miso, as if I should be surprised.

The service was great I had the Volcano roll. It’s relatively cheap and the dining area is clean! I will definitely come back for more sushi!

Their yum yum sauce was ranch dressing. They were very profusely saying they don’t even let ranch dressing in their restaurant. Which was super odd since we weren’t complaining, we just thought there was a mix up and they reacted very odd. Almost line they keep hearing this over and over. There was a leak in the ceiling and the floor was so slippery you slid around as you walked. Really a shame because the rest of the food was good. Yum yum sauce is 60% of the reason i love hibachi, so we won’t be going back :/

My wife and I loved this place. We were seated right away at on the hibachi side of the restaurant. The server was really friendly and efficient. The hibachi chief was awesome, and the food was delicious! My wife and I will definitely be going back!

This place is horrible. We go out to celebrate my daughter’s birthday because she likes the fire show and nothing but bad service. The chef drops the knife it hits the plate next to me(not sure if this was his first time) and this is before any food comes out. Then the Chefs portioning of food is way off. I get up away from the table to go and speak to the General Manager about my experience and his response«everything is ok the chefs cook extra so u got the right portion» are u serious so what do we do walk out and I will never again step foot in this place.

Akita has a sushi bar and hibachi grill. It’s a smaller restaurant but can accommodates larger groups. The restaurant is divided in half. The hibachi side is on the left and the sushi side is on the right. The sushi side has the bar situated in the back. They also have the alcoholic bar there too. The hibachi side can get packed and the wait can be lengthy depending on when you go. Call ahead to check on the wait times if you’re inpatient. I’ve had the hibachi twice. It’s pretty good. If you’ve never had hibachi you should try it. It’s always a fun experience. I’ve had it too many times so I tend to skip it unless I’m going to Benihana. The sushi side is usually open and no wait. We just walk in and sit down. The servers are usually prompt and knowledgeable. Service is consistent except on the days when it’s packed to capacity. They get frazzled. I’ve sampled their plates which are cheaper if you’re looking for lots of sushi to gorge on. They have an assortment of makizushi, futomaki, hosomaki and nigiri. My favorites include the eel and tuna nigiri. We usually order the rainbow roll, California roll, salmon roll and shrimp roll. We’ve had the bento box too. We almost always have chicken fried rice and onion soup with our rolls. The sushi is cheaper so be realistic with the taste. So far we haven’t had any bad sushi here. There isn’t overwhelming fishy smell, brown avocado or dry rice. Also, the sushi chef’s are like the quick draw mcgraw’s. They get the sushi out so quick it’s unbelievable. We’ve sat at the bar and barely put the napkins on our laps when they handed the sushi to us. It’s not always that fast but it’s faster than most places. They have rolls for almost everyone’s taste and if you don’t like sushi they have bento box or fried rice. Try Akita out. It’s a good place for quick service and sushi.

My review is only based on their sushi/sashimi experience, since we did not experience the Hibachi. JR and I were looking for a quick bite, and in/out type of thing and we were craving for good sushi and we got lucky to find Akita via Unilocal.(Thanks, Unilocal!) As soon as we came in, we were quickly seated and decided to sit at the sushi bar. It wasn’t busy so the service came pretty quickly, and so did our food. We ordered: steamed gyoza, kamikaze roll, salmon sashimi, ikura(salmon roe), and the chef accidentally made a salmon roll but he let us keep it! Everything was great! We ordered the steamed gyoza first but since we sat at the sushi bar and the chefs weren’t busy, our sushi and sashimi came out first. It literally came out within 2 – 3 minutes of us ordering! The salmon sashimi came with a nice, fresh, thick cut with the perfect temperature!(i like my sashimi a little colder than most offer). salmon roll was simple and good, so i’m a glad the chef made that roll on accident for us! ;) lol, kamikaze roll was good too. steamed gyoza was just steamed gyoza, nothing special. I didn’t like the dip it came with, i prefer my gyoza dipped in ponzu sauce, so I asked for ponzu sauce. After our yummy dinner experience, we spent under $ 30 and we were in and out within 30 minutes! P. S. on the night we came, they were out of mackerel. I really wanted to try their mackerel sashimi! it’s my favorite type of sashimi, next to salmon sashimi. Oh well, next time!

We took my mother here Saturday for a Pre Mothers Day Dinner before the rush on Sunday. We had reservations for 13 and they sat us down promptly at the hibachi grill. The hostess and waitress were nice. Plus atmosphere was very nice! The chef about to prepare the food was nice and made a impressive show while making the food. Wish he would of been more interactive like some of the chefs there but oh well. As long as the food is good! Now to the food. For starters the California Sushi rolls were to die for! The Jalapeño poppers were Awesome as well! The salad was okay but could of been better if the lettuce wasn’t just plain lettuce. The mushroom soup I passed on. Don’t really care for mushrooms. Now our entire was the Deluxe for Two with the filet mignon, shrimp, chicken, rice(fried), brocoli & fried onions. It kicked butt! Loved it and they gave us a lot!!! Overall we had a great time! I would of gave them 5 stars but two things bothered me. How they charge a extra $ 2 dollars to fry the rice($ 4 if you get deluxe for two). For 13 people that’s a whopping 26 extra! Not cool since it’s frying rice on a grill. Plus the 18% gratuity. I don’t mind tipping but I usually give 15% and if they are awesome a bit more. Don’t like to feel obligated or forced to give more than 15% to be honest. Pros: Food was awesome. People great. Place very nice. Cons: Don’t like to be nickel & dimed. Just tell me the cost. Will go again but will watch what I order so it won’t come out so expensive & bring a coupon!

We went here for dinner about an hour and a half before closing. They sat us on the hibachi side without hesitation and cooked table side for just the two of us. The staff was very friendly and attentive. However the food was very plain not a lot of seasoning and spices. The sauces were not as good as other hibachi restaurants. The portion sizes were very comparable to other hibachi places enough for dinner and lunch the next day. My date really enjoyed everything. I thought the sushi was good but as far as everything else I have had much better.

The hibachi chef was funny and fun to interact with, but the food was meh. My medium rare steak was medium-well at best. My group of coworkers at the table asked the server to speak some Japanese, and he definitely mumbled NOT Japanese to appease them. Good service or insulting? Either way, I chuckled as they cheered. Although it’s definitely not fair of them to assume he knew Japanese lol. The coworkers said the drinks weren’t great, and I wish they tried new tricks on the table. All in all a meh experience. I wouldn’t come back when there are plenty of other restaurants in the area.

You know those moments people ask your opinion and all you can give is a shrug? The shrug isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it isn’t great either. It’s just pretty okay. Well, that sums up Akita. The hits and misses were all over the place, but I can tell you now that I don’t quite know if I’ll be back without having to go there for a specific reason– like a friend’s birthday. So, we get in and they are setting up the table for our group. I’m happy that they allow us to sit despite our whole party not being there. I order the small warm sake to start with and I must say that it was rather tasty. Good start. Then things go off the rails a bit. Everyone in our party orders something from the hibachi except me– I order sushi. To my surprise, I am not allowed to choose which sushi I would prefer. It was chef’s choice only. That was disappointing because I’d choose Salmon Roe or Eel over Prawns or Salmon. I was also concerned that I would be accosted by a California Roll. So, I’m trying to get an idea of if the sushi is all raw(which I prefer) and something is lost in translation. All of a sudden the manager, who’s very nice by the way, comes to be super apologetic explaining that all the sushi is raw. I look at him strangely and explain to him that I’m not a fan of cooked sushi and would prefer raw only. He looks relieved. Sushi crisis averted, the hibachi show begins. Of course the tricks are neat and the flames made me happy that my hair wasn’t weaved, but I must say the food I tasted from my Mom’s plate was just okay. Not bad, not really good either, but okay. What my Mom and I were not enthused with was that she ordered one of the priciest meals on the menu and was continually shorted on food. She finally had enough after they have her only maybe 2 oz. of her 4 oz. filet mignon, plus it was cooked well done. She pointed this out to the manager and to our chagrin, the manager have a heated sounding exchange over our heads in another language talking about us. It was awkward and unappealing. I wanted to leave at that point. Thankfully the manager offered to prepare my Mom another steak in the kitchen. Great. So now she was handled. As for my meal. Well. The Onion Soup was bland and very uninspired. It was definitely missing the fabulous flavors and visible ingredients I’m use to. It’s like they were stretching this soup as far as it could go. The house salad was extremely disappointing. The lettuce was not properly drained which left a pool of water in the bowl, but the worst atrocity was the use of iceberg lettuce. Those who follow my reviews knows my stance on iceberg. It’s an unnecessary evil with no redeeming value. It is the Kim Kardashian of the lettuce world. It is absolutely everywhere but still cheap and has no taste. I will say that the sushi was tasty. The presentation was disappointing and the chef played it very safe on his choices going with options like Prawns, Tuna, Salmon, and etc, and despite the fish not being the freshest I’ve ever had, it was still nommy and I enjoyed it. So here’s my take on a nutshell. The staff here is really, really nice, and the chefs put on a good show, but the blaring mistakes truly shine through and make for a less than stellar dining experience. Plus, iceberg lettuce. Again, unless I’m invited for a specific reason, I’m not sure if I’ll bother coming back. Maybe I’ll just hit up Avocado instead if I want sushi and do but do not want to leave my area.

Was in the neighborhood and stopped in for a late dinner. We sat at/ate from the grill side, so no comment on the sushi. The prices were reasonable, about $ 15 for a meal with rice, chicken, and some veggies. The cost to upgrade to fried rice is $ 3, which is probably not worth it since there weren’t many extra veggies in the fried rice and it didn’t overwhelm me with flavor anyway. Overall, I ate way too much food, but didn’t have any digestive issues after getting home. A good sign — there’s a lot of oil on that grill! Next time, I’ll have to remember how excessive the portion sizes are and restrain myself so I can experience leftovers. Staff were friendly, though a bit slow to get started on the table, and our waitress had to take our order 2 – 3 times to get everything on the ticket. Wouldn’t bring anyone here to impress, but good for a casual night with close friends.
