I think this place served the best steak I have ever ordered at a restaurant. Everything tasted amazing from the deep-fried, duck stuffed, wontons, to the sesame glazed, roasted duck that my wife ordered. The atmosphere was awesome. The live music was not too loud as with most pubs I’ve visited and the interior was cozy to fit the Scottish pub atmosphere. Many of the staff offered assistance and there was a freedom here that I haven’t felt in many other restaurants. If you want a casual pub with excellent, fine dining food, and a great interior, this is the place to stop!

They were having a brunch for New Years. We drove in one of the worst storms of the season to get there. The food was bad. The buffet was not what I expected. No Pancakes, mostly salads. Vats of greasy bacon that had quality of the«great valu» brand at walmart. The waffles were hard as rocks. Definitely will not go here for brunch again.

My family took my mother to the Brae Loch tonight for her 83rd birthday at her request. I can say that we were all most impressed with the atmosphere, service and the meal. One of my sons and I had the venison meatloaf, and it was awesome! My wife had the lazy mans lobster which was fantastic. And my mother and other son had the NYS strip cooked perfectly medium rare. The waitress was delightful and engaging, and since one of sons has considerable food allergies, took the time to understand and assure him of a safe and delicious meal. Can’t wait to come back to try the haggis and the shepherds pie!

Nothing gourmet about it, but satisfying and well worth the trip for Thanksgiving dinner when we didn’t want to cook! All of the comfort food dishes you’d expect, plus a nice crab stuffed whitefish. Excellent, friendly staff!

I am truly not happy to write this review. At first I was highly excited that they are dog friendly and have a huge space. The other patrons were as sweet as can be with my boxer as well as the staff. Like I said this is killing me to write. First off the«patio» is to far spread out for two servers and and back server. I felt bad that my server had to do the country mile. Either get more wait staff or create another servers station. Also please explain to me why food was coming out on sheet pans? I mean the ones that bacon and roasts get cooked on, if you are going to use sheet pans, then at least have a dozen or more designated for serving so the don’t have baked on black crud that will never come off. I ordered the shrimp cocktail, I asked how big the shrimp were the server replied back nice size and they were. Like my sushi I like my shrimp cocktail cold and the sauce to be cold as well, there nothing worse than biting into a room temperature shrimp followed by sauce which is room temp. Today I was just going with he flow as I have been doing lately when it comes to dining out, I say leave the menu maybe something will jump out at me and I will roll the dice and take my chances. Well that happened with the Caesar Salad. Lately I have noticed that people are not putting a lot of lemon in their Caesar dressing. When I ordered the salad I asked for no creations and wedge or two of lemon. The salad came out. It looked like one of the snow globes your grandmother has from Disney World, it was covered with cheese. Please understand I love cheese just like the next person, but what I don’t like is the five pound bag of grated parmesan cheese on my salad. The cheese had no flavor at all and like I said it was not just lightly dusted it was well you know what it was like last winter with the snow, it was the same thing. Now to the dressing, Caesar dressing is supposed to be light and refreshing with lemon, fresh garlic, not my favorite but in this case I will deal with it, also Dijon mustard. After my first bite the first thing that came to mind was someone has a can of Sherwin Williams white paint and just doused the romaine with it. The romaine which i really couldn’t tell because it was lathered with this tasteless dressing. There is not enough black pepper that could save this. I than proceeded to order the NY Strip sandwich, ticket time on this was 35 minutes or more thankfully I was dealing with a client so I was not thinking about it all that much. Like most places that don’t get my wow factor going, I say maybe its a bad night, I’ll give it another go. I had those nights when I too was a chef(Culinary School trained). I will be back because its dog friendly and also it reminded me of a scene from a Norther Exposure episode, everyone knows each other or has;t seen people in years. A little spooky and in the same way pretty cool.

Family atmosphere with a Scottish touch. Good service and a nice variety of fresh, tasty food. They’ve got a solid beverage selection too! It’s nice to get a chance to experience some of the best(tastiest) parts of another culture!

Great atmosphere and a wonderful place for traditional food! I had a «fisherman’s pie» with scallops and shrimp that was excellent! My husband loved his lobster entrée and my mom her filet mignon. Waitress was a bit inexperienced but friendly and prompt. A good place to go for a special occasion!

Beautiful, cozy environment, friendly staff, and yummy food. Must try the haggis as an appetizer and a fried mars bar for dessert(Scottish favorites) as well as a Screamin’ Scott on the rocks(my personal favorite)!

The Brae Loch Inn has one of the greatest restaurants I’ve ever been to. Their grill cooks are excellent and their salads and breads are always beautifully done. If you’re in the mood for a grilled steak, salad and potato kind of meal then there’s none better.

Cazenovia is a little inbred, but this is a fun place downstairs. Cheap beer and good bartenders. I usually get the wings(they are baked but crisp) which are decent. The citizens who drink here are well groomed, and not terribly intelligent, sort of like purebred labrador retrievers.

I came here with 3 other friends. We are all African Americans, BTW. I must say that this place is terrible. The waitress didn’t want to be bothered with us. She wouldn’t ask us if we wanted drinks. But that was after we waited for 45 minutes just to get waited on. When we finally got our food, one of my friend’s food was burned, and the taste of my burger was off. I just couldn’t eat it. We then asked for a supervisor to express our displeasure, and they sent over the waitress who served us this entire time. Why? We will never come back here again, and I recommend you don’t either.

My other ½ & I had been searching and searching for a place we could have as our«usual». We first went on a cold mid-winter Friday night. When we first walked in we were thrilled — it was cozy with a fireplace and an attentive staff. The menu had a great many selections, but nothing to «knock your socks off». My other ½ had a fish sandwich which was average at best. I ordered the lobster mac & cheese — and won’t ever make that mistake again. It was watery, fishy and simply terrible. Needless to say we were disappointed beyond belief and won’t(haven’t) returned.

Went to Brae Loch not realizing it was their Valentines day weekend and they had a limited menu. Service as always was just fine. The food however was very disappointing. I had broiled Salmon, while tasty was warmish, the broccoli was mushy and ice cold. The rice was one clump of cold rice. My date had chicken provincial, which was rather bland and again, pretty cold. It was especially troublesome since we were there early before the busy time and they had a limited menu so the kitchen should have been able to easily handle the dinners. It appears that the owners are just continuing to milk an old cow relying on the local crowd who probably no longer have discerning taste buds and or show up with several Gin-giblets under their belts to know or care the difference. Since this place is not priced for casual fare, I have taken it off my list of places to dine. There are way too many other places to enjoy a nice meal for that price. Just seems they don’t care about quality anymore. Sad because it does have nice character and ambiance, but for a $ 100 meal for two atmosphere only goes so far, too bad for them.

The atmosphere is awesome. Nothing is made up and artificial, everything in their decoration and architecture looks genuine. The food wasn’t awesome, but it was good. and the price was sort of fair, not cheap, but you can not say expensive either. The service was the worst. rude, not caring, in hurry service. This is the 2nd time that they disappointed me. first time i was invited but someone else, but this time i went there by couple of friend of mine. At the bar; When you order a shot of whiskey which will cost you $ 12 i prefer to get more attention and have it in a shinny decent glass, not like a undergrad bartender who’s giving you a bucket of bud-light. They didn’t have any cocktail menu and he didn’t even bother himself to talk about the options that we had. we asked for a cocktail which he said something fast and left us. after he came back after 2 – 3 minutes we found out they don’t serve that. my friend asked for the same shot of whiskey as me, but on the rock, he forgot to add ice to it. we asked him again, and he fill the glass to the top with the ice one the bar in front of us. For the food; we ordered a Steak Chili Soup, we got clam chowder. the waitress got lost. we had the soup, then she came back in the while we were in the middle of our dinner she asked about Dessert and said our dessert maker wants to leave and he wants to know if you want any dessert or not. we said no, and we moved on. then she came back with bill and said you can sit here as long as you can but could you please pay the bill cause there was some problem with their card reader and lob lob lob. then i said about the soup, and instead of apologizing she said, no problem the price is the same.

Last time I was here to eat, it had to be when I was in high school for Easter brunch. This time, stopped in for a beer in the downstairs bar. We don’t have many pubs in Los Angeles, especially ones that are as cozy as this one. Really enjoyed the warm atmosphere and the drink selection.

Don’t tell me its lobster mac and cheese when its surimi(fish purée)! This dish was so good when it had pieces of real lobster in it.(See 9÷10÷10 review) Now that I’ve called them on it the waitress has disappeared! I was assured that it wasn’t but when you see a little circle with red striping that’s a big indicator. Haven’t every seen that come out of a real lobsta!

I’ve only been out to Cazenovia twice since I moved to Syracuse, but I have to say it seems like a great place to live. I would consider moving there if it wasn’t so far from the city. So needless to say I was excited to get out to the Brae Loch with my LivingSocial deal in hand. I had heard some mixed reviews but I wanted to try it for myself. The inside is very charming. Makes you feel like you might be eating in an old castle. Very intimate feel. When we got there at 7, I think we may have been the only people in the dining room. We wanted to eat outside on their patio, but we were told you needed a party of 4 to eat out there. Sounded fishy but we didn’t care too much. The food itself was decent. I had the lobster mac and cheese which I had heard about before. Pretty good. It had big chunks of lobster in it, which I appreciate. I couldn’t finish the whole thing. My girlfriend had the prime rib which was a little flavorless. Could have used some au jus. If I could, I would give the place 3.5 stars. The food was slightly above average and surprisingly affordable. Even without the LivingSocial, our two entrees, appetizer, and drinks all came to under $ 75. You can do worse. Worth checking out in my opinion.

Very awesome Inn experience. Red velvet wallpaper. Tempurpedic bed. Jacuzzi. Nicely situated near the lake. Only downside was the continental breakfast. The coffee almost made me cry — it was basically hot, dirty water and the lumps of dough were bagels and english muffins, I guess.
