This has been my husband’s and my favorite place to eat in Catskill for over three years. Forget the newer trendy spots, this place has history, a cozy feel that reminds me of some of my favorite restaurants in Italy and the food is fantastic. Their specials now are truly inspired and now make me want to hear what their specials are each time I go.

Would like to see this place a little updated, but otherwise, no complaints! The warm bread and seasoned butter were a great start to a great, quiet Italian meal. Service was good, food was good, good all around! We’ll be back!

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. From the cranky, inept waitress to the extremely slow kitchen, this restaurant left me feeling unsatisfied and upset. Far too much time passed between when we ordered and when we received our meals. During our long wait no one checked to see if we needed more drinks – which were empty — filled our water, asked if we wanted more bread, updated us or apologized. We were wholly abandoned. When the meals came, two of them were missing the pasta, which was a major portion of the meal. After delivering the food to the table the waitress left and never returned to check on us. The few times we interacted with her she acted annoyed and abrupt. I left the restaurant hungry, after spending far too much time waiting for a mediocre meal. I will never return.

This used to be the go to place in the area but over the past few years there has been a steady decline in food quality and service speed. The servers are nice enough, but it takes soooo long and the meal is not worth the wait. This pains me because i still go there every once in a while hoping to recapture some of the previous magic, but ultimately leave disappointed.

Love coming here when we are in the Catskills. We make the trip at least three times a year. The food is consistent and always delicious! It is Italian food at its best for the area! Keep up the good work!!!

Came on a Saturday night in October. It was a long wait for a table(we were told 15 min, it ended up being closer to 40). It was an even longer wait for the food(over an hour). Something must have been wrong with the kitchen because the restaurant was nowhere near full. The other tables were waiting as long was we were(or longer) without being served. When it did come, the food was bland and watery. Absolutely not worth the wait. During our wait, we saw a couple at a neighboring table ask if they could just pay for their appetizer and cancel their dinner order because of the long wait. The owner(?) told them no. So when she left the table, the couple just walked out of the restaurant. Yikes! One positive note about the service — the woman who served water was very diligent about keeping our water glasses full during the long wait.

We were a group of 4. While the others enjoyed their meal i did not. Bread and soup were very good. I Order rigitoni matriciana and even pointed to it on the menu for the waitress. When the main course arrived mine had a pink sauce which was probably vadka sauce from the nights special. It was cool at best and overly sweet, not good at all. Yes I could have sent it back but I prefer to Not eat alone. Point is I was given a meal that was sitting around because all the others had hot food. NO excuse for cold food.

Awful meal start to finish. I live and work local so I like to support local, had friends talk about this place so we tried it. One meal was so/so, 2nd was so greasy it couldn’t be eaten, complained to waitress who apologized over and over, but we were still charged for it. We did get free dessert, luckily it wasn’t made in house… They have a full bar but do not have beer on tap. I gave 2 stars because the waitress was excellent, the food gets 1 star.

Went here this past Saturday night for dinner with couple friends. There were 4 of us in the group. We ordered some drinks, 2 apps, and 4 entrees. We were seated at 630 and didn’t get done until 930. The place was at about 50% capacity. We were never told that the service was going to be slower than usual because, as we heard the owner bark at another table, they had a big table in the other room and the kitchen was down a man. Quite honestly, not my problem, but at least let us know before so we could have picked another restaurant. The food was ok and not worth 3 hours of my time. Not just that but between the 4 of us our bill, including tip, was around $ 170. We left a very nice tip as it’s not really the server’s fault for the owner being short staffed. Not once were we even offered an apology, a drink or an app, nothing except long periods of just waiting for food. I was about to walk out when the food got to the table. Had it just been my fiancée and I we would have walked out at some point. Will I go back? Nope. I can have the same OK Italian food in my town, or any other Italian restaurant for that matter. Not worth driving 20 minutes and over the bridge. I can’t recommend this place unless it’s walking distance and you have time to kill.

This place was a little bit of a disappointment, because it has a nice ambiance. With many open tables visible, you are still forced to wait a half hour. Service is very slow, but it’s ok, this is Catskills not NYC. Food was just ok. The menu is hit or miss. Our appetizers were not good.(Stay away from the mussels, they tasted funky! Couldn’t finish them). My favorite was the bread and butter in the beginning. That’s about it! Haha. Needs improvement.

I cannot say anything negative. I disagree with any negative comments on this restaurant. Been coming here for years for my Italian food«fix.» Food always delicious. Great service. Romantic yet it can get noisy at times due to how busy/popular it is.

Worth the drive. I went here with some folks who have been here many times since they relocated to the area. A very good dining experience. Friendly and attentive staff. The food was good. Generous portions and reasonably priced. Bread was decent with whipped garlic butter on the side. Tried 1 appetizer(calamari) and 3 different entrée Matricana, fra diablo mussels and a ravioli special) Would order any of those the next time, but would like to try some of the other dishes on the menu. Thanks and keep up the good work. Not sure about negative experiences. I’ve eaten many home cooked Italian meals growling up and also eaten great meals in Italy, Arthur Ave etc…

Faux, faux, faux. If this run down joke of a «restaurant» wasn’t in a tiny town like Catskill, it would have lasted about a week. Don’t even consider it; it is to Italian fare what bicycles are to auto racing. In the mood for Italian? Repeat after me: Ulster County. You’re welcome.

The negative reviews on this restaurant are completely ridiculous and insane! They must be by, or paid for by, competing restaurants. Pay attention to the others. I have been going here since the mid 90’s when we lived across the river. We moved a lot but I always found a way to get back and it has always been great For the past 7 years, we are in Wi now for work, I have held a Hudson McGuire reunion for 15 to 25 people that come from Rochester on East. They know our names and it has always bee AAA + Enough said it is the best and yes I have had Italian in NY City, N Jersey and all the 48 lower states

How on earth is this anything lower than four stars??? Four and a half stars, for that matter??? I unfortunately only have the pleasure of being in the area during summers, and in recent years not as much so, but for a good number of years now I’ve made a point of going to this restaurant at least once a summer. Over the years, it has consistently remained my very favorite restaurant, with admittedly a few close seconds. What makes this one my favorite? Sure, it has a very nice ambience, and the staff is pretty good, but the food! Unbelievably delicious. Have their chicken supreme. It has changed the way I myself make chicken marsala, but I feel that I have yet to truly match it. Look, if you enjoy exquisite food and a warm, cozy, charming ambience, do yourself a favor and go to this restaurant, even if it is an hour’s drive like it is for me when I’m in the area. It’s so very much worth it!

Avoid at all costs! Pasta was over cooked and yet I still got terrible food poisoning. Their carbonara is a thick cream with bacon. Only upside was the bread.

I want to start by saying that I love the one negative review from the guy who claims to be a chef but can’t spell«calamari». Anyway… I love this place. I have been going there regularly for a long time and the has been consistently great for many years. The supreme sauce is a must –try. It is a brandy cream sauce that comes on a variety of dishes. My favorite is the frutta de mar, which is chicken breast, shrimp and scallops. The homemade desserts are excellent too. And if you are fortunate you will visit during the cooler months where they make brick oven pizza during the week. Some of the best pizza in upstate New York. The outdoor seating area is wonderful in the nice weather. Be sure to stop by the bar and see the bartender, Shawn. He is a real character and will certainly get you laughing. The only negative thing I can say is that the lighting is too dark in the back dining room. I use the light from my cell phone to read the menu when I am seated there. Other than that… no complaints.

From a person born and raised a few blocks from Arthur Ave(Little Italy of the Bronx) I am a good judge of Italian food and always call them as I see them here on Unilocal. If you want Little Italy then make the trip to the Bronx but if you want something Italian and delightfully different La-Conca-D’oro in Catskill is the place for you. The service is excellent as is the venue itself with two dinning rooms, a beautiful eat in bar area as well as cozy patio setting. I experienced their«special» soup of the day; a mushroom bisque that should be their signature soup dish. My linguine with white clam sauce was a 10 on 10 as well. My wife was totally satisfied with her veal parmesan and due to the size of the serving will enjoy the remainder again tomorrow. After reading the critical reviews posted here and was quite surprised. I recommend giving the place a try for yourself and perhaps I will see you there as I certainly intend to return.

Horriible! Would sum it up in one word, but there’s more to say. If you find yourself in Catskill NY and very hungry, I would suggest 711 over this restaurant. The wait staff was young and trying to please — no complaint there. However, the kitchen took over an hour for one meal, veal marsala, which when it came out was transformed into a salt lick or imagine salted rubber. The hostess/manager, and I use the term lightly, was very rude(I am being polite) and because of her I, and the 5 people that we were with, will never go back or give this place another try. It wouldn’t have been the case if this person wasn’t so unprofessional. We’ve had many dinners out where food was mediocre, timing was off and staff young, but when called on this, a professional in the restaurant industry usually gives you a free drink or understanding gesture and realizes you are not obligated to take the food if you’ve waited too long. This hostess/manager came out and was accusatory, rude and basically holding us to a meal that took over one hour for one dish, which was awful, overcooked and poorly seasoned.

I would love to give this fine restaurant a 4.5 but Unilocal does not provide. I would give it 5 stars, except for the loud ambient noise in this popular place(especially in the summer when the fun-loving boat people are in town). The food, however, deserves 5 stars. the veal and chicken dishes with butter brandy cream sauce are sheer heaven with a side of spaghetti and oil. The house creamy dill salad dressing is a wonderful start to what has always been for me a most delightful meal. The Hot Antipasto and the Zuppa di Clams(with WHITECLAM sauce, please) are outstanding. Truly, my favorite restaurant in Catskill.
