It was bound to be an epic NYE in the Catskills. A gathering on 8 vagabonds were meeting in Catskills to load up on food, booze, and other supplies. We looked up food in the area and Creekside popped up. Luckily we were there during the middle of the day because 8 people rolling up for lunch like that is always a crap shoot. All and all solid pub food. Nothing to scream about but our waitress was a true gem, she was quick, courteous, and generally on point. I ordered the Philly Swiss Cheese Steak — a nice foundation for the evening ahead of us. If you’re driving through, you’re going to get some great water views and friendly staff. Definitely worth it and let’s be honest coming from the City — you can’t beat those prices!

Ordered a Arugula sakad with boneless chicken, chicken was like rubber, and the salad didn’t have half the ingredients, informed the wait staff, her response was oh they are cheap. When the cook walk past I informed him that meal was poor and he said oh well sorry we kept walking to the men’s room with no regard. They didn’t even offer to take it off the bill they only offered to take the salad back and add to it. which at that point I was in total disgust.

This is a small out of the way place. It seemed the bar tender/waitress was very overworked with a full bar to take care of and 4 – 5 tables. It is a shame because she was very nice. The food was spectacular, or at least my Garlicky Sirloin open faced sandwich was. Tender and garlicky! I order French onion soup as well, however it came out with my meal? Why? It also is clearly canned and tasteless. Too bad the soup and slow service ruined an otherwise great meal.

Good solid pub food. Service was quick. Bartenders friendly and fairly attentive. We usually stop by after softball with team on Tuesdays and haven’t heard any complaints.

What happened Saturday August 1st? No food was being served, just drinks!!! No explanation either. Saturday night at a somewhat popular restaurant and no food, what a total disappointment they are. I should’ve even give it one star.

Great spot on the water — really nice to sit outside and have a reasonably priced and tasty meal. Also friendly tentative service.

Driving through and picked Creekside from the reviews. Thoroughly disapointed. We sat inside(too hot to sit outside) and had a nice table overlooking the creek. A few minutes in we had black flies buzzing about, landing on us, the table, ick. We focused & ordered 2 Caesar salads(one with chicken) bbq boneless wings, and spud bites as app. The spud bites were ok, we ate them. Reminded me of what I do with old leftover baked potatoes at home. Eh. But, we were hungry and ate half the plate. Salads next. Wow, just wow. The lettuce was warm and wilted. Dressing was fine but I could barely stomach the warm, wilted lettuce. Boneless wings came next and they cemented my bad choice of this place. They were fatty, wet meat globs that tasted like fish. We couldn’t even eat them. My son scattered the wings on plates. I asked him what he was doing, he replied«Moving them around so they think we ate them». Such a kind 16 year old! But, I put them back on the plate. Let the waitress know of the fish taste. She checked in the kitchen & said the oil was changed recently. Which basically just confirmed they fry fish and poultry in the same oil. Hence, the fish taste. It might not bother many ppl, but here? Oh, heck no. Gross. The waitress was very pleasant, and her service was on par. She removed the wings off my bill, a gracious gesture. I would still never go back.(2 stars for the view & waitress or I’d give 1).

Second time there this week. Was on the river with friends and went there for dome lunch. Today I had ghe burger which was excellently. Someone had the Portobello burger. Also tasty and well made. Everyone lived the fries. Nice salads with different choices of meats on top. And very cheap. Hate to give away such a good secret. Bar looks like a good place to hang and chill. My favorite place on the river.

My husband and I went in on Friday night for a date night since our children had a baby sitter for the night. We sat at the bar and had a wonderful evening. The bartender Kristen was very nice and attentive. The calamari was delicious-highly recommended. It wasn’t that crowded which was nice so my husband and I got to enjoy our beers and food. I ate the arugala salad with chicken and it hit the spot.

Came in on a Friday at 5pm. Wanted to eat, grab some drinks, and watch the second half of the game. No one eating at tables and maybe 5 people sitting at the bar. 2 bartenders and 5 or 6 servers. The two of us sat at a bar table and waited for service, and waited, and waited, and waited. No one ever came to the table and acknowledged us. No one seemed the least bit interested in customer service. They were only interested in talking to each other and texting on their phones. I really can’t say the service was bad, it was simply nonexistent.

2.5 stars. I stopped here with my family yesterday while we were kayaking up the creek. For its location alone, Creekside gets major points. It was great to just kayak up to the dock and walk up to the restaurant. However, the service was seriously lacking. We sat outside(most people were) and they didnt seem overwhelmingly busy. Our food took a good 45 minutes to come out and we didnt even order anything crazy, just some sandwiches. Our server also forgot to tell us the specials, which we overheard while leaving and they sounded good. When we finally did get our food, it was decent — nothing to write home about but just about what you’d expect for such a casual place. I got the crabcake which I liked. Other people got the fish and chips(HUGE piece of fish), the portobello sandwich(one tiny portobello on a huge bun was disappointing but good flavor), and a burger. I would definitely come back for lunch if we did the same type of kayaking trip.

Last night my wife and I had a late dinner and the food was great. The hostess immediately seated us and attended to our drinks introducing our waitress. Great service. The horrible part was paying 67.00 for a meal and a few drinks while the other patrons laughed and conversed on the top of their lungs. My wife sat right next to me and during the entire night I struggled to here her. I literally cannot believe people today«it’s all about them!». My wife and I are in our late 40’s and are by no means prudes. Hey people! The bar was in the next room, if you are going to hoot, laugh on the top of your lungs and burst out into some diatribe your party is best suited for the bar not in the dining room. Have some common decency! I was close to making a scene by walking up to the tables one by one and commenting on how rude they were and how would they feel if their children acted this way in public but I am sure these individuals would find me as the problem. I endured and tried to enjoy my steak. I recommend the food and service, I hope that night of torturous clamor was a fluke. We will go again but I will check the noise level and leave if people are just sitting at tables drinking and hooting and hollering. My wife suggested to dim the lighting and put up a few partitions for sound deadening! All and all it generally is not the fault of the waitress or the staff that people are so selfish and rude. My family owned a restaurant years ago and I know my dad would have come out to the dining room and politely asked these drunk, obnoxious patrons to please move to the bar or into the outside veranda! Stop by, try the food but look out for the other patrons!

Every trip north from NJ we come here with local friends mainly for one reason; Creekside’s calamari, which is without any doubt, the best we have had anywhere. My wife says the Arugula Salad is great while our friend likes the Asian Salad. Also quite good, is the Fish n’ Chips. The inside atmosphere nice, but the real atmosphere is outside where you can dine overlooking the marina.

A place to avoid like the plague. Three of us went there last night & were promptly seated. And had drinks. And ordered our dinners. And waited. And waited. And waited. There was a raucous nearby table – with lots of loudmouthed people. So, naturally, our orders were put on hold. The waiter kept telling us. Another few minutes. Our patience at an end, we decided to leave – and go to Café Latina nearby(where we were served good food quickly). To add injury to insult, we left too much money for our drinks!

I’m wondering if the owner of Creekside even wants to attract customers at all, judging by how well-hidden he keeps his restaurant! Seriously, this place was nearly impossible for me & The Hub to find, and we’re part-time residents of this area who know this town very well. We finally got someone on the phone from the restaurant who basically walked us through the process of finding it one evening. Eureka! There it was! Once there, the place was worth the trouble finding: It’s a minimally decorated, newly rehabbed version of the old restaurant that was there before it, only with a new owner, new décor, new menu, you get it. There are large windows all along one side, with a nice view of the adjoining marina. The cheerful waitstaff is punctual and pleasant, and the menu is perfect in that, it is brief enough for simplicity, yet contains a good amount of diverse choices to please most. I had the chicken sandwich, which was huge and nicely seasoned, and Hub had the fish&chips, fresh and crispy. We also shared a rack of ribs, with barbecue sauce that might have been just a tad too thick and rich, considering the tenderness of the perfectly-cooked ribs themselves. We ended off with dessert: I, the banana cheesecake, and Hub the dark chocolate bombe, which were both fresh and flavorful. Although there is a full service bar in the next room, we did not order drinks, so I cannot comment on that aspect, but all in all, the place was pretty nice. We have since returned here several times, always leaving pleased.

It’s there, just hard to find! The restaurant is located across the, um, creek from downtown Catskill, behind the local marina. In fact, it’s *nearly impossible* to see from the road. From the outside, it doesn’t look like much. But they have a great patio looking out over the river and marina, and what looks like a fairly popular bar hangout for locals. If you have a boat, you could easily pull in and walk over. And the food — the food is great. I had crab cakes(house made, really good), the steak special(new york strip w/buffalo bleu cheese; works well!), and a dessert special(vanilla bean crème brûlée cheesecake). Fairly standard beer selection, although they do have a locally brewed ‘Creekside Ale’ that was pretty decent. The downside: the service was glacially slow. I think they were short a server or something, because it wasn’t full and it was still taking forever. At least the waitress was friendly, and apologetic, and the kitchen got everything right. It was teling that nobody around me seemed to be complaining; the food was worth the wait. If they get the service sorted out and, I don’t know, maybe put a SIGN out on the road or something, this place could be great.

Located between the Hop-O-Nose Marina and Catskill Creek, this is a hidden gem of a restaurant. Formerly a place called Solstice, this is a surprisingly near-fancy and friendly family restaurant with an excellent dinner menu. Driving up, you might not expect much. The marina is largely abandoned at night, and there’s not a lot to indicate that there’s an active restaurant nearby. But there is. Step onto the deck and look into the large plate-glass windows overlooking the creek. The dining room is spacious — even though a band called the Digits has set up its gear in the corner(house band?). Stepping inside, you’ll encounter the bar area. I think there’s a pool table there. Once inside the dining area, almost every seat brings with it a view of the creek, which is quite nice. And the menu! I rarely eat beef, much less steak, but I had your basic steak with mashed potatoes and steamed(or sauteed, I couldn’t quite tell) zucchini. I forget what C. ordered, but I’m guessing some kind of fish — the salmon? We both had a glass of wine, the house red and white — I had a fine merlot — and all in all, the meal was excellent… certainly better than we expected. Having walked almost the entire length of Main Street, I didn’t expect a lot out of Catskill — even though we did find a box of free video tapes on top of a garbage can. Creekside made the drive worthwhile — and I’d return just to eat there!
