Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum

Lovely park with colonial historic features, wide open spaces, and trails, one leading down to the Catonsville Trolley Trail. We went for Colonial Days and were amazed at the craftspeople and artisans that demonstrated basket making, lace tatting, candle & soap making and more.
The building has plenty of information about the history of the region, and a gift shop. Local university students have served as docents and given guided tours of the property and its history, including through the woods, so wear sensible shoes, especially if it has rained recently.
The hours vary, so check the website or call ahead if you want to experience the indoor portion of the site. They have great events, so look over their calendar. Our first visit was a Kwanzaa celebration with a professional storyteller & a party.
