K 9 Clipper & Catamaran

DO NOT TAKE YOUR BELOVED PET HERE!!!
Brought my little pure bred Long-​hair Chihuahua dog in here and was greeted by Rick. He took my dog for about the 4^th time now for a full bath, haircut, teeth and ear cleaning, anal glands, and nail trim. This took about 4 hours.
Considering it took this long you would think when I picked him up, he would be fully groomed and ready. Well here’s what I got…
I asked how it went. He said it went great. I asked about his glands and he said he didn’t have any information as his bather does that.
Red flag #1: he doesn’t know about the dogs that leave his business.
Red flag #2: His nails were cut, but the grinder definitely wasn’t used nor was the clipper to trim the fur around his paws. I confirmed that this visit included that, but when I brought this to Rick’s attention he responded with saying the grinder was used but «I guess not enough to your liking.» A rude response but after he said the charge was $ 45, I asked him to please grind his nails down as they were rough and sharp.
Red flag #3: Rick took him back to the area where he grooms the animals (which is completely visible from the lobby) by dragging him with a red rope like a noose around his neck. This is the rope only to be used when the dogs are getting groomed on the table as they don’t loosen. I began to say something but he then picked him up and put him on the table.
Red flag #4: He then took the grinder to his front paws, my dog Unilocaled then he stopped. He then took the clippers and trimmed the hair on his paws. This is when I said, «Clearly you did not grind the nails since you are just now trimming the hair, which should’ve been done before.»
Believe it or not, this is when the story gets really messed up.
Red flag #5: Rick continued to hold my dog in a head lock as he cried and continued to grind his back paws. Now I understand the difference between a cry of fear and a cry of pain. This was the latter. I said, «That’s enough. Bring him to me.»
Red flag #6: I asked for a 3 clipper all around and to to trim the hair behind his ears and about an inch off his tail. Look at the picture to see the horrible work that was done. And the worst part is, since my dog came home I touched his tail and he cried out. If something happened, even by accident, I should’ve been told about it.
I picked up my dog, I PAID THE FULL $ 45 (when I should’ve just walked out) and I said to Rick how disappointed I was in the level of service from him not knowing any information about my dog, lying about grinding his nails and most importantly the way he treated my dog. Then he said, «well your dog is difficult.» So, he was great, but now he’s difficult? Unreal.
Rick, you should not think you would be able to get away with treating animals this way. You have a transparent organization since you made it able for customers to view you as you groom their pets. Transparency means you can’t lie and get away with it. I caught you yesterday and you tried to back pedal out of it. Well, here’s me making sure you don’t mistreat anyone else’s animals. In an age of social media prevalence, where the consumer has the power to post to other consumers, you should be more careful about how you treat your customers (and by customers I mean the beloved pets that people entrust with your care). Time to retire Rick.

I’ve had my dog groomed here a couple of times and it’s always been a wonderful experience. Friendly staff and my dog always comes home looking great, not to mention that take such good care of him while he’s there.

This place is clean and the people are very nice. I have brought my dogs here twice and have been really happy. The best dog grooming I have had out in the desert.

AMAZING! I am so grateful for these folks. They were so caring and understanding with my 14 ½ yo mini poodle. He is deaf and grouchy and usually difficult for groomers. K9 was so clean, calm and serene that my old irascible grump was so sweet and calm! Best experience ever. Thank you so much !!!

We usually use a mobile groomer as our one eye adopted shit zu is 15 yrs old and skittish.
Not only did they handle him with the up most of care but he was mellow even when picking him up and at home after.
Thank you for such a good job he was also the cleanest and freshest of all groomers we tried.

I have been taking my toy poodle here for probably over a year now & just had to share my great experience!
By comparison-I’ve been to another place in Palm Springs (by Von’s) & it looked like a breeding ground for all diseases you get your dogs vaccinated against! I ran fast out of there.
But, not this place, this place is just so clean! I had my poodle given a summer shave and short on top & she looked better than ever. The gentleman that owns it is so nice & welcoming & has small talk and seems to really care. He even kissed my girl when it was time to leave.
As long as they are open, I will never go anywhere else!

First time going there and it went great! I took in my baby named meow and they did an amazing job. I was so scared they were going to make him bald but they trimmed him perfectly. I will be going back for sure. The price was also great! I was actually surprised because i am used to speding close to $ 100 just for a simple groom. so glad i went (:

My shih tzu, Izzy, is 9 mos. old and I have been taking her to Dave and Rick since she was 4 mod old and until this month have been extremely pleased. Both gentlemen are very loving and attentive to the dogs and I could tell that Izzy enjoyed her experience there. I always paid $ 40 for her cut. This last time when I went to pick her up I could tell that Rick was somewhat annoyed that she was «matted». I explained that my husband had surgery and I was not able to spend as much time «grooming» Izzy as I usually did. When David asked him if the price was $ 40 Rick replied «they have to start paying for matting» and charged me $ 60 — 50% more than what I was paying. There were also comments that Izzy had a lot hair. This is something over which I have no control. I didn’t way anything at the time because there were other people in the shop and I just wanted to get out of there. Although they are loving with animals and certainly do an adequate grooming, I feel I was taken advantage or was suffered the consequences of Rick’s mood. I will not be going back again.

I am on vacation with my family and saw good reviews on this place and decided to take my maltese puppy here
I loved her new haircut, the guys here are very friendly and seem to know what they are doing, they gave me wonderful tips on how to take care of her hair

This place was recommended to me by my vet and since it is very near to where I live I thought I’d give it a try. This doggie-​salon is very clean and peaceful (I didn’t hear a peep out of any of the dogs in there) and the technicians are soft spoken and kind. In the past my little Riley has come back from his grooming appointments extremely stressed. But not so much after his visit to K9 Clippers. Oh yeah, and they did a nice job bathing and trimming him.

What a great experience in every aspect. Our two dogs badly needed to be groomed for the coming Summer months, and I decided to find someone on Unilocal with good ratings and close to our vacation home in Cathedral City. I spoke to Rick, and he was able to give me a next day appointment.
The shop was so clean and tidy; that’s always a good sign. He greeted me and my dogs like long lost friends. And when I picked them up, they were happy, playful and beautiful!
FYI, I had also checked around with a few other groomers, and the prices at K9 Clipper were very competitive.
We will definitely be back! A sincere thanks to everyone at K9 Clipper.

This place is a great place. Professional ranks #1 in servicing and caring for our cat. Fast, effective, too notch service. We trust them entirely with our cat. What a great business here in our neighborhood.

Very nice surprise to find here in the desert! Had to look twice before entering store due to how fabulous and clean it looked for a dog groomer. Inside was spotless and fresh smelling. Fabulous grooming on my hairy dog. Very reasonable prices for dog grooming of this caliber and a true value in the desert. Thanks Rick, I have finally found my regular groomer!

I brought my Coton de Tulear in for a grooming. I’m very particular about the results, because I want him to look like the breed standard. I explained how I like it and Rick even did some research after I left. When I picked Baxter up he was gorgeous!
Not only did they blend the ears nicely (instead of cutting straight across like some groomers do) but he recently had flakes from allergy scabs, which they got rid of.
Also, the place doesn’t even smell like there are any animals in there, it is immaculate.
I can’t ask for a better place to take my dog, I’m so glad I found them!

My maltipoo got an awesome cut! Great location for errands while you wait. Staff was friendly and very accommodating! Good prices, cute boutique style dog outfits & clean space! New favorite groomer!

Took my Bella to K9 Clipper and Catamaran this morning. We loved it! She looks beautiful and was treated so well. The owner was super friendly and I loved that they had a couple of shelter cats up for adoption in the salon. Also it was a very clean, nice smelling facility.

I just took my bichon frise today and I am extremely satisfied with the services. Friendly owner and staff. very knowledgeable. Rick and David did a fantastic job. I will definitely be coming back!

We highly recommend K9 Clipper and Catamaran! We take both our little babies to Rick. His love for animals shows in the quality and care he provides for our 12yr and 1yr. We are so grateful to have found him!
