We are currently staying at the farm and my mom made reservations today to go to the restaurant. Went there with my family of 6. To start off, the staff, super respectful. I have traveled around the world and can honestly say I have never met a staff so respectful. The food was wonderful. I absolutely loved the place and the vibes this place gives off. Absolutely amazing . update: just finished my stay at the bed and break breast. Me and the family went to the restaurant again and it was even better than before. Absolutely amazing. I’m expressly impressed. The farm/ranch was amazing as well. Most of our vacations invoked the usual with beaches, except this one. The hole family fell in love with it and we’re even talking about coming back next year. No words describe how wonderful of a time I had there. My advice is try it yourself

This is a double entry sort of, you’ll find more info at the other Unilocal entry, «Carol’s at Cat Spring.» I want to go back and try it again, but haven’t had the opportunity yet. I went a few years ago with my family while visiting back here on break from military work in DC, and it was mediocre. Super super slow service, with a little bit of a chip on the shoulder. My guess is the staff had no control over cooking speed and were tired of being confronted about it by the guests. A tough situation to be in, to be sure, but what you do then is be extra friendly and helpful to the guests and take your frustrations to management and the line cook(s). For those reasons, and the meal being less than interesting, my family, who has always lived nearby(I hail from one of the early German families that built Cat Spring up back in the 1850’s and after) has never gone back. So give it a try, but keep your expectations low. Then maybe it will surprise you! I fully support having a restaurant here though, and wish for more local business. Cat Spring was a booming little town on the rail line until 1929. I’ll leave it to you to guess why that changed. So sad that it did!

Visit the ranch but skip the restaurant! We were staying at Blisswood and decided to give the restaurant a try. Carol is the owner of the ranch and restaurant but also apparently the head chef as well. We made a reservation for a large group but it seems they were still not prepared for us. The food was mediocre at best, we felt like we could have made better at our cabin. The fish was fishy, the steaks were tough, and the veggies were soggy. We ordered a green salad for $ 7. It was described as a field green salad and that is exactly what it was and nothing more, not even a single tomato. It tasted like it was fresh out of the plastic box covered in store bought dressing. It was Houston prices but no where near the quality of what you would get in the city. We all left disappointed. For the price we paid we could have had a feast in our cabin. That being said the atmosphere was very cozy and the staff were very pleasant. I would definitely go back to the ranch. It is a beautiful property with cute cabins and lots of nice animals.

Maybe I went there on an off day, but I was pretty unimpressed with Carol’s. I went there for lunch after a day of antiquing with my stepmom. They had a buffet, which we chose to do instead of ordering off the menu(and for that matter, I can’t remember if they had a real menu at that time of day). I was utterly underwhelmed by the buffet. The gumbo was so-so, and about the only thing I really enjoyed was the pasta salad. I’ve heard other good things about this restaurant, so I’m hoping I just caught it at an off-time or on an off-day.

This place is a very pleasant surprise out in the middle of no where. It is owned by the same woman who owns Blisswood. It is also really the only place to eat in the ten mile radius. What was a surprise is that the food is fantastic. I had a fillet Mignon with blue cheese that was dynamite. It was better then any thing I have ordered in Austin. I kinda wondered if it was a cow from her ranch. The décor is really unique here as well. They had cow hides on the wall. There was also a lounge singer when we went. I can’t remember her name but she was good and a character to boot. If you are in the area and fancy something upscale and romantic, this is your place. I took one star off because the price point was a little high.

Absolutely delicious gourmet grub in the tiny town of Cat Spring, Texas. As a part of our amazing weekend getaway at Blisswood, we had two lovely dinners at Carol’s. Fine Texas cuisine with super sweet modern twists… steaks and pork chops are super moist and thick, salads are crisp and fresh, and the white chocolate bread pudding is *obscenely* fantastic. Carol, the owner, is a gracious host and runs a top notch place… full of locals who seem at ease, as well as visitors to the nearby Blisswood B&B who are welcomed warmly. White linen and mounted deers, candlelight and beautiful wooden walls — ambiance is totally perfect for romantic dinner, but still laid back enough that this unshaven Austinite felt right at home Full menu is up on the website( ) and seems to rotate to keep things exciting. I’d normally balk at eating at the same place 2 nights in a row, but the food here made it totally worth it. If you’re out this far, I hope you’re staying at Blisswood( ) but even if you don’t book a room, you gotta go check out the ground… absolutely beautiful. Looking forward to our next trip out.
