My son has been attending Salina’s Mandarin class a little over a year now(since the age of 3.5). Although I speak Mandarin, my kids haven’t had a lot of exposure to it since we don’t speak it in the home very often. I felt regretful that my son was almost turning 4 and still knew very little Mandarin, but it seemed impossible since he started to become very resistant to learning a new language. When I heard of Salina’s classes I was very excited and thought this could give us the structure we needed to get my son interested and familiar with the language. And thankfully it was! Ever since the first few classes with Salina my son has had a big attitude change about learning Mandarin. Now he’s proud of the words he knows and no longer resists my attempts to teach him at home like he used to. I am so thankful I found Salina’s class and highly recommend it to other parents. We attend the Saturday morning class from 10 – 12 am, but there are two afternoon classes from 3−5pm(on Wed and Thu). During that time the kids have lots of fun and well-prepared activities to engage in including arts and crafts, writing, hearing stories, and singing songs. Salina is an incredibly warm and caring person and is very considerate of each parent’s and child’s individual needs. She also has a great way with kids — energetic and cheerful and very attuned and empathetic. I also love how she always patiently listens to any questions or concerns I have about my child’s progress(or lack of progress) in learning and always gives great suggestions or provides extra teaching aides for us. I can’t imagine a better partner for any parent who wants to give their child the great gift of learning Mandarin!
