Visited Cooperstown with the gf and decided to drive over to Windy Hill to hand pick apples. It is not very far, and the drive is part of the experience (at least for out-​of-​towners).
The staff there are all VERY friendly, and the apples are ridiculously delicious, and cheap! At less than $ 1/​lb, I picked 10 pounds, and am still eating them 2 weeks later.
P. S. YOU HAVE TO GET THEIR APPLE CIDER DONUTS. Get a dozen. I got a ½ dozen, and almost immediately regretted my decision.

I took a group of 20 people here to pick apples. The orchard is beautiful and has a wonderful selection of apples. The prices are very reasonable and the owners, Charlene and Steve, were very friendly and hospitable. Steve gave my group an impromptu tour of the cider making process. There is a small store that sells all types of apples, apple goods, cider, baskets, gifts, jams, candy, and even cheese. If you are looking for a place to enjoy the beauty of Central NY in the fall and pick some delicious apples, I highly recommend Windy Hill Orchard.
