Don’t let the bad rewiews fool you. This place has really good food. It DID scare me off at first because it is truly vintage, real world 50s, not retro trash like Gunther Toodeys. We found it to be clean, fun atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. There is a faint waft of grease in the air but it’s a burger grill joint with the kitchen in plain view. What can you say, they didn’t design them with astetics in mind. My meatball sandwich had four huge meatballs(photo is after I ate half) and the fries were definitely homemade. My wife enjoyed her cheesesteak. If you are near pikes peak don’t pass this one up.

We came on a Friday for lunch. They were not busy at all and were very tentative. I ordered the Thanksgiving sandwich and it was really delicious and reminded me of the same sandwich at Which Wich. The décor is also very cute. No complaints here!

A quant diner paying tribute to the 50s restaurant and culture. My family and I stopped and ate here before seeing the sites. The inside reminds me of a small café set in the 50s. There is a lot of memorabilia on the walls. We ate lunch here today. They have a lot of the classical American sandwiches. I had a hot dog, fries and ice tea. The fries are pretty thick but have a good flavor and are fluffy. The hot dog bun was grilled and buttered. I put mustard and ketchup. My mom got a grilled cheese with fries and water while my dad got a ham and cheese with fries and water. All their dishes were made to order and it was worth the time. You get a decent portion for the price – not too big but not too small. I would stop by here again if we get a chance.

The location and feel of the place is worth the stop alone. Breakfasts are great, lunches are also really good. Try the broccoli sandwich and the Philadelphia cheese steak(the kids were ready to eat it 3 days Ina row, but they are closed Monday). Be ready for a long wait if their busy, but classic colorado is what Mildred’s is.

I let four kids under 11 yrs old rate this cool little diner. Three or four stars? «Four! Definitely four!» They loved the made-to-order breakfasts here: toast, bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, hot chocolate and orange juice. Comments heard between mouthfuls: «This is great!» «I love these scrambled eggs… I don’t know how they make them like this but I love them.» «This is the best breakfast I’ve ever had!» In chatting with the owner, I learned that Mildred’s has been in business for 8 years and, to my astonishment, has been a diner since 1954! That’s some serious longevity! This is true diner food. For those expecting a gourmet experience, just stay home and keep your negative reviews for someplace else that truly deserves them. This diner is run by locals(who are very nice I might add), the food is made-to-order(which necessitates a little bit longer wait), and the setting is quaint with views of peaks and tall majestic pine trees from every window. I’m told the cook at Mildred’s even shreds raw potatoes to make the hash browns(vs the usual frozen go-to option of many similar diners). Four different staff members checked on us during our breakfast to make sure we were happy and content. I never once smelled grease and, in fact, this place was quite clean and damn near void of any odor except for the plate of goodness sitting in front of me. I thought the pricing was very fair. If anything I would ask them to consider adding a kids menu although it’s not really necessary. I’d love to go back and give their homemade ice cream, soup/chili, or brats a try. Oh, yeeeees, totally forgot about the cinnamon rolls! Must try soon. Their coffee was really good and would be even better married with a warm roll(frosting oozing down it’s sides…). I’m happy to have discovered Mildred’s and I sure hope they stick around for a good long while! Hooray for small local businesses!

DO. NOT. GO. The greasy smell, the disgusting food, dirty conditions and the unfriendly staff made for an unforgettable breakfast and we will never be back. The Egg Casserole was a greasy mess and my husband even spotted the cook soaking up grease from some food before serving to other patrons in the restaurant. Needless to say, we are heading home to hit the showers and launder our grease-laden, smelly clothes.

With amazing food, great atmosphere, and very friendly staff Mildred’s is hard to beat and well worth the drive from CS. Went there for brunch today and were treated like loved family from the minute we walked in. Atmosphere: The place has a really cool 50s diner feel with bar stools and red booths. All kinda of classic Americana hangs from the walls. It’ll take you right back to when times were simpler, when«Made in USA» meant something, and Pontiacs still came outa Detroit. Food: Breakfast menu is typical but all the food is prepared to perfection at very reasonable prices. The home-fries were the best(no joke) that have ever passed my lips and the legendary cinnamon rolls had me licking the plate. I glanced at the lunch menu and the different assortment of sandwiches ensures I’ll be headed back. I’m a coffee snob and even their drip was decent. Staff: Everyone(all three) of the staff I dealt with gave off the feeling of genuine friendliness and you can tell they have a stake in the place. Had some family in town and the waitress even offered to take our photo. Cost: $ 36 for four people to eat a big breakfast.

A super cute old school looking diner that has some really good food. Order one of their cheese steaks or burger’s and you won’t be disappointed. They have roots in Jersey and their son also runs South Jersey Sub’s in Colorado Springs. If you have enough room try out some of their ice cream and you will fall in love with the place. Maybe one day i will make it up there for some breakfast.
