Staff is quite friendly and knowledgeable, and the selection of music gear is diverse and dynamic — for the store size. Living in a small town like Casa Grande, I could hardly ask for a better music store in terms of inventory and customer service. The staff has no problem with you handling merchandise, and they always have cords out at hand to test any amp or PA on the floor. They are also quite receptive to having a chat about cool new gear, and they usually ask what kind of musician you are, or what music you listen to. At the point of purchase, the staff consistently goes out of their way to make the buying experience easy and unique. On my last visit, the counter guy comped me a pair of drumsticks I was absent mindedly interested in while making an unrelated purchase. On an earlier visit, a used tube amp I was interested in turned out to have a small electronic defect. They repaired the amp before I bought it, and told me to bring it back a for a free repair if it happened again. De-No music is a small store, but it is always filled with mostly used merchandise suitable for any small time guitarist or drummer. Even though I’ve never seen more than few customers in the store at any time, the merchandise changes around often enough to warrant a monthly visit. A twenty foot wall is always packed with a decent array of both US and international makes of guitar, with tube and solid state amps lined underneath. They carry all major-brand types of gear, ranging from strings and picks, to drumsticks and drumheads. For a small town like Casa Grande, the only music store in town does their best to keep their current customers coming in for more.

This is a basic no frills music store. Not terrible not amazing, but does the job. If you need a guitar string or a saxophone reed, this is your best bet for many miles. What gives it the extra star are the unique indian baskets made by artists from the Tohono O’odham’s. I got one that was shaped like an Eagle. Really well made. Fun fact some of these look like owls and I’ve seen sources call them that but they aren’t. In fact the Owl is regarded as a sign of bad mojo and no self respecting basket weaver in the region would make a basket look like the dreaded owl.

De-No is the only music store in Casa Grande, so you don’t have a lot of choices if you need guitar strings and don’t want to drive up to the Phoenix area. However, their attitude toward every day musicians is so awful that I’ll drive up to Guitar Center or order online. I wouldn’t purchase so much as a pick from them. They have a decent but small selection of instruments, but their focus is mostly band instrument rental for schools and commercial PA rentals. They are wholly uninterested in regular musicians that might come in, it seems. The last straw was when I called asking about renting a PA, and they brusquely told me that they«only rent to businesses». I am a professional musician and would treat their equipment 100x better than some corporate schlep banging their stuff around a conference room. I’ll take my business elsewhere, De-No, and I’ll tell all my fellow musicians to do the same. You might as well get rid of your storefront, wouldn’t you say?
