If you want a «real» pizza this is not the place for you. It basically takes all kinds of strange toppings and puts them on a dry pizza crust. It is overpriced($ 21 for a medium pizza) and overrated! I would not recommend.

Mellow Mushroom is one of my favorite restaurants! I really love every food item I order here, there hasn’t really been anything that I find disappointing. The pretzel appetizer is PHENOMENAL and the pizzas are always perfection. I really enjoy that they have a tofu topping option – so good. Their margaritas are great and I’m very fond of their new veggie burger and the yummy potato side item that comes with it. Love the atmosphere too. My friends loved the spinach artichoke dip and I like coming here for trivia nights on Wednesdays! It’s just as good as it gets.

Mellow Mushroom used to be one of our favorite pizza places. We would all be excited to head to Raleigh and get pizza. When Mellow opened in Cary, we were ecstatic ! Well…the Cary Mellow Mushroom has never really been able to compare to the one in Raleigh. The pizza is good. The crust is fresh made and also very good. But we feel like… MEH !!! It’s not anything superb. Only ONE beer(on tap) special. We may be back in a few months. I’ve heard that they have a great lunch special. Maybe we will try that next time.

Great pizza… wine not bad either. Chris the bartender was his usual happy self… only thing to change. .better selection of wine.

There is nothing mellow about the flavors this place is able to offer! My buffalo chicken pizza was so tasty. I could taste all the various toppings in every bite! The mighty meaty was also delicious– it’s the stereotypical pizza with all the meats you can think of so you can’t go wrong with this choice. We decided to have both the garlic butter w/Parmesan as well as the cinnamon sugar w/honey pretzels as an appetizer. The cinnamon sugar ones were absolutely scrumptious but a tad bit tough. Also, I think it would’ve been a better dessert than an appetizer because of its extreme sweetness. Service was great and speedy. If we ever needed anything, our server was there in no time. We requested a lot of random sauces and he never seemed flustered by us haha Ambience is very casual and comfortable. The vibrant décor may have brightened my mood? Or maybe it was the food? Either way, I really liked my experience here. A solid place to get your grub on.

Came here for lunch with friends. The food is good but the service is very bad! We all finished our water. But no one ever came to fill up our water. No one ever filled my water even once! I ended up leaving the restaurant super thirsty! Bad bad bad service!

I’ve now been here twice for lunch in the past month to grab a couple slices and be on my way. Both times We sat at the bar in hopes that it would be faster than sitting at a table. Unfortunately we were sadly mistaken. Two slices took 45 minutes to come out both times we are here. The pizza is decent and this place has a fun atmosphere, but I’m not sure why it’s sooooo slow. They do have a nice patio so maybe we will try that next time to mix it up and see if the service is any faster.

My boyfriend and I come here often for the great beer selection, delicious food, and great service. We normally get the House Special pizza, and I get the Caprese salad to start(so good!). There’s usually a wait, but it’s not long. There was one instance when we found several hairs in our pizza, but MM fixed it right away. They quickly made us a new pizza(we checked for hairs!), and even after we said that we would still pay for it, they took the pizza off of our bill. Great customer service.

I stopped in for lunch. I really had a craving for a great pizza. I really was in the mood for a nice cold Yuengling when I was told draft’s where $ 3 today. But they only have my Ying Yang in a bottle. Oh well… So to had to wait five minutes because the bartender/waitress was talking microbreweries with a very loud obnoxious bar patron. Ordered a cheese pizza with mushrooms and pepperoni. Should have asked for extra mushrooms. The sauce was good, there was a little spice to the sauce. Which I like a lot. Good crust, i was in the mood for a specialty type with tons of mushrooms. I figured with the name they would have a special mushroom pizza? Otherwise it was a good lunch.

We love our Mellow! We always opt for the bar, better service and much cooler atmosphere. Look at the ceiling above the bar, it’s my favorite part. The main dining areas get too kid crazy. Avocado hoagie is the bomb(add salami of course.)

Dinner at Mellow was good tonight as usual. Thin crust was cooked perfectly and salad was great! One of our usual spots to grab a pizza.

Great pizza and great service. We always get the same thing(thin crust pizza and salad). I’ve had the specialty pizzas in the past and they are good as well. Highly recommend! Here again and still awesome!

I like the pizza here. The crust is a little bit thicker than I like but the pizza is always good. The sandwiches are also very good. I have tried probably 5 different sandwiches here and all have been tasty. We prefer to sit in the bar area. The bartenders are good are on top of things. Only real downside of this place is the cost of the pizza. It can be a bit pricy, but I am willing to pay more for better food. Can’t beat draft beer and good pizza!

When I want. Pizza the way I want it(FUNKY) with meat, cheese & Anchovies(yeah the salty does something for me) I gotta hit up Mellow mushroom. So what they’re a chain, they’re CONSISTENT. Each one carries local beer & ingredients. I’ve gone to Boone, NC, Greensboro, Raleigh & Cary locations on different occasions and am never disappointed. Mighty meaty is my go to although I know I must try to red potato BBQ chicken or the jerk chicken pizza. Maybe one day. Not cheap. Not NY style pizza but some time you just want stuff on a pie. They have good stuff.

OK I’m one of those weirdos who don’t come here for pizza. The tempeh hoagie has been a favorite since I tried it in KY many years ago. Tempeh is a grain loaf which sounds unappetizing but it’s marinated and served with feta, onions and mushrooms and I got it in rye hoagie bread. It’s amazing! I had the lunch special which is the sandwich plus a salad. I had the spinach salad which was huge and had delicious candied pecans and dried cherries with a balsamic dressing so delicious. Considering my check was about $ 13 for that, my drink and a generous tip, not bad at all! Service by Matt was excellent as well. I will be back!

I have been to the Mellow Mushroom in Raleigh and in Asheville. This location does not live up to those two. One, the artwork is not nearly as well done and eclectic as the others, but that is fine it is Cary and it fits in with a more local crowd and style. However, the art is as dull as the food. Now that is an experience not typical of Mellow Mushroom. The bruschetta appetizer we ordered arrived fairly quick but it was not as flavorful as the other locations. The pizza arrived not long after and it was very doughy and the crust lacked the same vibrancy that I have come to expect. It was lacking Parmesan and the rest of the pizza seemed flavorless. Ham and pineapple should really pop. That being said, the service was exemplary and I really enjoyed my time there even though the food let me down. With a bit of focus on the food and consistency with that service, this location will be up to par. For now, we will stick to the Raleigh location.

I’ve dined here a handful of times for lunch. It’s close to work, and when I am in a pizza mood, Mellow Mushroom usually satisfies. However, service has been the most inconsistent thing here and that’s the reason for 3 stars. The food is always good, but when you’ve got a limited amount of time during the work day, taking 35 minutes to bring out an appetizer is not acceptable. On 6/3, a coworker and I stopped in. Waters were brought out promptly and our orders were taken in a reasonable amount of time. We ordered 2 calzones and spinach artichoke dip. It literally took no less than 35 minutes for our spinach artichoke dip — keep in mind we had an hour lunch. The spinach dip was good, but the bread that came out with it was overloaded with herbs — I probably would’ve picked something different than serving that type of bread with the dip. About 10 – 15 minutes later, our calzones arrived. They were just ok, nothing delicious. My coworker and I agreed we should’ve stuck with pizza since that is always pretty tasty. There was not one single time where the waitress returned to our table to ask if we needed refills or if things tasted ok. My coworker has another job as a server and said it is actually harder to offer poor service than to simply acknowledge someone for 2 seconds to check in. Truth. As a side note, we arrived around 11:15, WAY before the lunch rush. We were one of about 4 tables. I made a comment that with how things were going today, I would’ve been REALLY upset if it was during the lunch rush and things took even longer. Here comes the weird part, it took WAY too long to bring the checks. We paid separately and my coworker had a coupon. It took TEN minutes for the waitress to return with our cards and receipts and the waitress told my coworker she couldn’t apply the coupon to hers because it was not over $ 15. She then said, «Do you still want the coupon? I left it in the back.» My coworker was a little dumbfounded as to why she would keep her coupon and said of course if she can’t use it now she wanted it back. Strange. We left the tip and left. We agreed that it might be awhile before we come back here for lunch as it took so long and left sort of a bad taste between the time and service.

So I talked about the pizza last time(and I’ll give a brief shout out to the holy shiitake), but I’ve tried some additional items that I had to rave about. Caesar salad — excellent. Italian sandwich — delicious. But today I struck gild with the jerk chicken sandwich. The French bread was soft, like for a Philly cheesesteak. The chicken was tender, spicy, and bursting with flavor. They caramelized the onions, which made it perfect. I wish I’d ordered 2 of them, but then I’d be dying now, because I wouldn’t be able to stop eating. Service is consistently friendly, and there’s not much more to ask for.

All though I found their pizzas to be appetizing and far too light(which is good) on my tummy, the prices are far too exorbitant. The ambience is trendy and the service has been good. Takeout service has also been quick and easy. I have found their hoagies to be also delicious. I have never tried their calzones. Good food, pricy and good service.

If you have never been to a Mellow Mushroom, go. Now. The pizza is delicious. A large is going to cost you 25 bucks. My favorite is the Holy Shiitake. The environment is funky. It isn’t quite a Hard Rock Café but is a unique experience for sure. The staff at this location is friendly and happy. Expect to wait a good 20+min for your pizza bexause they do not make it until you order it. Ingredients are of a decent quality. I have been to most of their locations and this Cary location is one of the nicest. They also sell cool T-shirts and a few local brews.
