Awesome place, used the $ 70 groupon deal and it was worth it. Very attentive staff, food was awesome. Only bad thing was that the dessert wasn’t great.

Me and my family came here for dinner last night. I can say we had a very good experience. They were very busy but the waiter keep checking on us and the food was amazing. We ordered the ribs for appetizer. The ribs was tender and the sauces was tasty and had just a right amount of heat to it. I had the scallops plate with blue cheese and wine sauce. It was delicious! Also tried their pumpkin cheese cake, OMG, if u like cheesecake, u definitely will love it!!! We sure will go back there.

I had not eaten at Maxillians in over two years and recommended it to a work colleague. We were the only table beside a couple who left over the fact their fish was bad. The rating is now a 90. Enough said. They should close and start over

Great food great service. You will not be disappointed. The owners are couple and at least one of them are always on site. Most the time the husband is the head chef. Very comfortable.

Drove half hour to try this«great» place out. Arrived an hour before they close and they tell us they are closed. Why? Because«it was slow because of the holiday weekend.» Funny thing. it’s a Monday, and the holiday weekend isn’t for five days. Won’t be back!

I came here with my wife and was excited about the restaurant based on the tons of 5 star reviews. First of, the restaurant is smaller than what I expected and there seems to be two sides, one side is the fine dining section. The tables weren’t too terribly close but it was a smaller space and they utilized their space accordingly. Décor was tastefully done and you definitely want to make reservations as this seem to fill up on Fridays. Most of the menu items listed are around $ 25 or under $ 30. If you look at their internet menu, do not think this is what you will see. We had looked at the menu prior on the net and had our minds made up on what we were to choose for dinner. When we got there, their menu changed a bit and some of the previous menu items were no longer there. Nevertheless, our waitress was quite attentive and other employees were quick to fill up our waters and check on our needs. We started out with the Thai Chicken Lime Egg Rolls. Basically, it was two smaller egg rolls chopped up in three parts. It was okay. For some reason, I thought they would have been bigger for the $ 8.95 price. With the suggestion of our waitress, we ordered the strip steak and veal chops. Entrees do not include salads but both were presented well. However, once I took a bite of my potatoes, they were undercooked. The steak had a decent flavor but nowhere in the realm of Sullivans or Angus Barn. I bit into my roasted vegetables and I swear it tasted like fish. I pushed it aside and thought maybe it was my taste buds fooling me. I came back to it again and yet another strong fishy taste. I can only assume they must’ve used the same grill that they cooked the fish in. As for my wife, her veal had stuffed ravioli with mushrooms. Those tasted great. The veal chops were tasty but she couldn’t hardly eat it. To her, the sauce or something on the veal was very salty. We didn’t order any wines or beers with our dinner. The biggest surprise was the bill. If you are expecting your dishes to be around $ 20-$ 30, definitely do not order the«specials» as we did. Our bill came to about $ 100. It was an okay experience and for now, I’m not sure why all the 5 star ratings? Ours was average to say the least, especially for it being a bit pricey.

Just finished dinner here and everything we had at the table was incredible!!! The food was spot on and the presentation was. Excellent. The service was outstanding and the staff was very attentive. It’s a must try for a special meal. Prices were around $ 20+ a plate.

I loved the appetizers. We had chicken dumplings and ribs and they were delicious. Drinks were great too! Then we got our meals. We ordered the salmon and although it did not say it came with shrimp on the menu, there was shrimp on top of it. This is extremely dangerous for someone with a food allergy! We also ordered chicken tortellini. Guess what– there was no pasta in it, only chicken! It was shocking that not only did the cooks forget it, the waitress didn’t even notice it! It was uncomfortable telling the waitstaff that not only one dish was wrongly made, but two were! They boiled some tortellini and put it with the one meal, but said nothing about the shrimp. The kicker is, they gave us a bill for the full price! That is such a shocker. I would have been embarrassed to be the waitress and not have comped at least one of the meals. Needless to say, this is a first and a last meal there for me. Boo for the crappy customer service. :(

This is the second time we’ve eaten here. Both times with an online deal. The service has been fantastic both times but it’s pretty overpriced unfortunately(that’s why we only eat here with online deals) haha The wine prices are actually reasonable but the meals are a bit much considering you can get the same thing at numerous other restaurants for $ 8-$ 10 less per entrée. Not a huge fan of the interior of the restaurant either. My husband was not a fan of his $ 40 «special» steak and so he mentioned not purchasing another online deal again so I doubt we’ll be back.

We tried Maximillians for the 1st time this past Saturday night. We absolutely loved it! We sat at the bar and our bartender was amazing. Her recommendations were superb. We started with the lime rolls. Great flavor with a touch of spice. Our entrees were even better! I got the thai curry snapper and my husband got the seafood feast. Everything was prepared fresh to order and is owned by a married couple! My favorite!!! Will definitely be back. Thanks for a great night!

I have been to this restaurant twice. The first time was not good at all. The food was not good and the service was lacking. Friends persuaded us to try this restaurant again which we did tonight. The second time was worse than the first. Just a few issues with tonight’s dinner — didn’t have the bottle of wine we ordered, they ran out of diet coke, they served mussels that were not open, it took over an hour to get our food, they charged incorrectly for drinks, the food was way too salty and the service was horrible. After not getting anywhere with our waiter when complaining about all the bad things that occurred during the course of dinner(the waiter actually said in defense of the service that they did bring out new mussels ???) we asked to speak to the manager. We were told that the manager(Gail) was not coming out to speak with us because it was her husband’s birthday. We were all dumbfounded that a manager would not come to try and smooth over four people who were obviously very upset and who stated they would never come back. The manager not coming to speak to our table has to be the worst slap in the face that I have received at a restaurant(not to mention after spending $ 220). There are so many other great restaurants in Raleigh and Cary that everyone should try before ever stepping foot into this strip mall abomination. Please take it from me save your money, your patience and try another restaurant before going here!

Amazing food in Raleigh, NC metro. Peanut crusted grouper, butter shrimp, thai basil, green curry, on a bed of Asian rice noodles. A big recommend!!! I travel and use Unilocal exclusively to avoid a dining nightmare. Came here on a great recommendation. Gail the owner is very nice, approachable, and values her clients! A must try!

My wife and I went to Maximilian’s for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. My wife was pleasantly surprised when they said«happy anniversary» to her at the hostess stand. Unfortunately the night went down hill from there. The place was about half filled but they still took us up a flight of stairs to what looked like overflow seating. Décor was abysmal with semi nude paintings on wall staring us down as we sat on hard uncomfortable chairs. The waitress was pleasant enough as she detailed the menu and specials. Besides the décor sitting upstairs means the server needs to go up and down the same flight of steps for EVERYTHING! I should have known we were in for a LONG night! They were only serving a limited menu due to Valentine’s Day weekend. No big deal there still seemed to be enough to choose from. We ordered the Tuna Tempura Roll as an appetizer. It was pedestrian at best. The tuna was not sushi quality and overall very bland. The dollop of wasabi was as hard as a rock and basically inedible. We also split a Grilled Caesar Salad. The salad is actually the one item I would recommend. Slightly charred romaine hearts with house made dressing and croûton. It was very good. For the entrees my wife ordered a Phyllo Crust Salmon and I ordered the Voodoo Tuna(I hadn’t seen the tuna app yet or I would’ve chose something else). The entrees arrived and the portions were quite generous. Once again the tuna was of poor quality but the spicy coconut milk sauce was pretty tasty but it wasn’t worth the price. My wife’s salmon was rather blasé and had no real wow to it. The dish was rather clumsy with three extremely large and thick slices of grilled zucchini and yellow squash and roasted potatoes. Finally dessert! We ordered the recommended Decadent Chocolate Cake. Very disappointing! Dry almost stale cake with out much flavor. When you find this hidden GEM keep on driving! I am confident you can find a better way to spend TWO hours and $ 150 dollars!

I eat here 2 – 3 times a week. It is very close to where I live. I’m single and its less expensive to go out to dinner than to cook. They have a great wine list! Mondays have martini specials and Wednesdays have wines. This place is Cary’s downtown hidden jewel! The food is AMAZING! If all the privately owned places this is my favorite. Dishes I like: lamb, fried oyster salad, current lobster special, paella, short ribs. I was not fond of the lobster bisque as I prefer chowders. I do not care for spicy food and a lot of their dishes tend to be extremely spicy so I make sure to ask for no spice. The staff is great and friendly. I have never had any issues but I’m sure they handle them properly.

Asian fusion food. Sometimes the flavors are off, so dishes are a hit or miss. Pretty large portions for most dishes, which is nice.

I found a Livingsocial deal for this restaurant and decided to take my girlfriend here. The place has a nice, classy look and we had a very friendly waitress. We had the bread/cheese appetizer, and split a grilled caesar salad. Both were exceptional and the salad was a good size to share. For our main courses I ordered the filet mignon and my girlfriend ordered paella. The filet mignon was juicy, tender, and cooked just how I ordered it. The grilled veggies and greens it came with were great. There was only one problem, the steak and bed of grits(or something grit-like) it sat upon were EXTREMELY salty. The filet also had so strong of a teriyaki flavor that I could barely taste the meat itself. I make beef jerky at home and often use packets of pre-made teriyaki jerky spice. This steak tasted like over-spiced, salty beef jerky. Combined with the salt-grits, it was barely edible. I had to drink lots of water to get it all down. I expect better quality control when ordering a $ 40 entrée. It is a shame because it would have been amazing if it wasn’t so salty and over-saturated with teriyaki marinade/spices. My girlfriend liked the paella, but said one of the mussels didn’t taste right. She then found that two of the mussels were undercooked. She also could not find any sausage in the dish, which it was supposed to include. Needless to say, she didn’t finish her plate. Happy Birthday baby! Since they did the appetizer and salad right, we decided to try a dessert(we’re forgiving people). We had the caramel-vanilla gelato, which we both thought was delicious! Overall, everything was great except for the actual entrees themselves. Unfortunately, that is the most important part. I now regret not sending our plates back. Perhaps they would have fixed the problems with the entrees if I had the patience to wait for them to re-do it. We were hungry and didn’t want to cause a ruckus or spoil what was otherwise a pleasant evening. But hey, there is no excuse for salty and undercooked food, especially with these kinds of prices. I cannot recommend coming here for dinner, because there is an obvious lack of quality control. You may want to stop by for a salad or dessert, but I would avoid eating here otherwise. Also, it is not worth stopping by for drinks since the cheapest glass of wine here is $ 10. Shame.

I have always had a great experience at this restaurant and also on the pizza side. Maximilian’s has been in Cary for a while and is tucked away in a small strip area off of 54. I was able to make a reservation on opentable and there was no wait on a Thursday night. The wine is a bit pricey at $ 10 a glass so a bottle for $ 30 or the martinis are a better bang for your buck. The wine was also not served in fancy stemware so I would get a martini next time. The menu has lots of flavor and many dishes have Asian and exotic spices in them. I stuck with the salmon since I have a mild palette and it was perfectly prepared with mussels and vegetables. The staff was very attentive and I had a very enjoyable meal and evening.
