Apparently Ginza has closed and it comes as no surprise. I work in the area and in the past would frequent them regularly. Service was always apathetic and the wait staff seemed like they were tortured into working there. The food just ok, nothing exceptional by any means. Even with the BOGO, two for one on overpriced rolls is no deal. There was no mistaking that the restaurant was poorly run. If not for the proximity to my work I would have stopped coming long ago. Would love to see a sushi place come in to the spot and do it right.

Just went by and unfortunately they have CLOSED for business. Major bummer because their BOGO sushi rolls were awesome! Hoping to see them reopen soon…

Ordered takeout for the office. Two hibachi chicken and one vegetarian. Vegetarian was mostly cabbage and onions and not much of either. The chicken was part chicken and part, well, the jury is still out on this one. The salads were a few pieces of iceberg lettuce in a pool of water. And speaking of water, that is what the YumYum sauce consisted mostly of.

Ginza is a traditional Japanese steak house and sushi bar. One half of the restaurant is for hibachi style steak house dining, and the other side serves sushi, with an option of traditional Japanese seating. It’s a bit dark inside the restaurant, but it is very pleasant. Our waitress was very nice and took our orders promptly. When the food was brought out it was as expected… it’s not the best sushi we’ve ever had, but it’s not the worst either. It’s somewhere in the middle. That’s not to say that we didn’t thoroughly enjoy our evening. We had a great time, enjoyed our meals, and liked the atmosphere. There are just so many other Japanese steak house or sushi restaurants to choose from in the area, I’m not sure we’d be back to this one. Still though, it’s worth a try. They are closed during mid-day so call ahead to make sure they are open for your lunch hour depending on when you take it. Parking is readily available in their private lot.

this was our second trip back to Ginza, the first experience was pretty good so wanted to give it another try. Met some friends out there Saturday night, had reservations for 7:30, arrived at 7:20 and was told it was going to be at least 30 minutes before we were seated. No but problem, relaxed and chatted until they called our name. Got to our«table», waitress took our orders, and started bringing the salads and soups. When our chef showed up he began to cook, it didnt take long for me to realize he was very new to this, or was having a difficult night. He was very lethargic, not very personable at all, almost like going through a routine instead of making it a fun experience for everyone. Something else I noticed from the last time we went there, the portions have dropped down dramatically. Fortunately the friends we met there made the night worth while, but must say I was very disappointed in this trip to Ginza.

I was frozen to the core! Expecting a fun, Valentine’s experience, the air conditioning was so cold all night long– it even went through my coat which I had to wear all night long! This ruined my meal. I’m not sure if they did this to speed up the dinners, to get us out of the restaurant fast or not. The chef was very tired and didn’t hardly talk or entertain us either. Very disappointing. Food quality good.

Great place, decent service. But folks, please clean the mens bathroom. Those urinals really are dirty and nasty. That really kills the experience.

My parents decided to make tonight a special occasion as I am visiting home after a while and will also be getting my wisdom teeth out in couple days and won’t be able to eat as well… So we ordered to share: a love boat for 2, scallop nigiri, and a nabeyaki udon. Love boat for 2 was actually enough to satisfy the four of us, although my mother was full from a late lunch. But the fish on the boat and the scallop nigiri all tasted super fresh and I would even say were pretty generous pieces. The udon was also tasty, and I would definitely order that again. Service was meh. We ordered the love boat for 2 first as an appetizer, because no one knew what they wanted to order yet, and the waitress took away half of our menus, and then we had to call her several times from afar to order the rest of our meal because she didn’t come back to our table, and when we finally got her attention, she seemed kind of annoyed. Anyway, I would still come back here again but make sure you order everything at once or else it might be a wait!

I come here exclusively for buy one get one free sushi, since I never like any food served at a hibachi. The sushi is a good size, competitively priced(a la popular sushi places in downtown Raleigh), with pretty fresh ingredients and creative flavoring. The appetizers are a bit overpriced, so don’t expect to have an easy throw-in seaweed salad before your sushi. The Ginza roll is fantastic(soft shell crab and everything good in the sushi world!)!

Good value and gluten-free options. Went here on a whim but was nervous that I could eat there since I have Celiac’s. I was pleasantly surprised that they were able to accommodate me with little hassle. The food was relatively good(shrimp a boob overdone) and the prep/show entertained our whole group – kids and adults. Service was rather slow but that is the nature from moat hibachi places. You should go if you’re looking for a quick meal. The prices are on par with what you get. NOTE: my gluten intolerance is not as sensitive as others. The opportunity for cross contamination is there. I didn’t experience any symptoms of getting glutened, though.

Ginza is known for both their sushi and hibachi style food. They really do put on quite a show on the hibachi side. When you enter the restaurant, you pick either sushi or hibachi. If you pick the hibachi, you will ushered to the left side of the restaurant and grouped at a table with others until a group of 4 or more are there. The chef comes out with his rolling cart full of props and starts the show. Eggs roll, onions gets sliced, volcanic flames appear and then a little toy doll is used to extinguish the flames. You may have to take part in the show as well as the chef throws pieces of rice at you and you hope that you can catch them in your mouth. This part does make me feel a little like a circus animal but it is all for fun and people enjoy the laugh. Just watch out for the sticky rice on the floor because not everyone is good at catching flying rice :-) You can pick from shrimp, steak, vegetables, scallops and other main items and then the chef prepares fried rice with vegetables and cooks the mean and seafood in front of you on the hot grill. The food is very fresh and it is fun for a group outing and if you want some entertainment at your dinner table. The couple next to us was kind enough to share some of their sushi with us and it was also very good. Ginza has two sides of the house and if you can’t decide between hibachi or sushi, you can have both.

Came in on a weeknight and they weren’t super busy so it was cool to have part of the place to ourselves. Our waitress was friendly and our sushi came out quickly. They do bogo here which means some of the rolls are 16 bucks so we opted to go for 4 rolls. Some were good, others not so much. I really liked the Ginza roll which came with huge pieces of soft shell crab the Shogun was also good. I didn’t care for the spicy lover roll because I couldn’t tell the difference between the spicy tuna and salmon. The volcano roll is for sure one to stay away from. it was simply a california roll with tiny pieces of scallop that didn’t even seem to be sashimi grade and just the mini ones you get from the store. We stopped eating them because something just seemed off about it. All in all ill go back to give them another shot and try some other sushi.

It seems that they just don’t care about the quality of their food when it comes to their takeout customers. I’m not certain who made this tuna roll, if they were using scraps of leftover old fish or what, but something is not right here. The soy sauce was also spoiled — I didn’t know that was possible. Really poor customer service from an employee named May. Honestly, save your money and go elsewhere. I could have picked up better sushi from the grocery store. Edit: Added a star because their miso soup is yummy.

I haven’t tried the hibachi yet, but I did get some sushi. It’s BOGO, which is great. I ordered the Vegas roll and it was very good!

**Note, this review is for the sushi. I have not had experience yet with the teppanyaki dinner.** Had a nice little coupon that allowed BOGO on sushi, so I decided to dine here one day with my mom. First impressions were nice. In addition to the typical booths and tables, there was a traditional Japanese dining area. The napkin roll ups were beautifully done, and for a moment I forgot that I saw Unilocal had only rated this place 3 stars. A brief look at the sushi menu revealed a slightly annoying amount of similarity among their specialty rolls. I couldn’t even tell you what we got, and I stupidly forgot to label the picture because my Unilocal muscles have atrophied a little. Fortunately, this wasn’t a bad thing. The sushi was tasty and filling without being overly so. Two rolls were enough for two people. What drags Ginza down is the wait staff. I, too, had a problem with the service. Our server did the absolute bare bones minimum, despite the fact that we were only one of two tables sat in the restaurant. «Hi, get you something to drink?» is frankly not an okay greeting, especially when the restaurant is very slow. 4 stars — the sushi wasn’t memorable by any means, but it was still good and priced competitively. I’d have no problems returning for more sushi, with or without coupons.

My husband and came here for the first time tonight. The server was attentive and we opted for the sushi. We started with the gyoza and tako and saba sashimi. All of it was prepared well and very tasty. We ordered four rolls — the dancing eel, lobster, mayflower and the dragon. The dancing eel was very good. The lobster roll was hard to eat, the roll itself was giant, though well balanced if you could fit it into your mouth. The mayflower was good, spicy tuna was consistent and had fresh masago. The dragon roll was a good quality standard dragon roll. Overall, pretty good for the price.
