We stopped on a Sunday for lunch. Yes, they are open Sundays. $ 12 for a brunch buffet including meats, veggie options, drinks AND pies? Unbeatable. The service was attentive. Ambience charming.

I just had the privilege of eating Sunday lunch at Rumor Has It for the first time and it was great! There are two things I’m authority on when it comes to food — bread pudding and meatloaf! And as luck would have it, meatloaf was featured on today’s buffet. There are three things that make meatloaf a colossal failure. One, if it’s so wet it’s coming apart. Two, an over abundance of tomato products of any kind and, three, if it’s so compact and dry that it comes across as meatloaf jerky! THIS…was the perfect blend of what makes a perfect meatloaf PERFECT! Also, the Mac and Cheese? Equally great! The right sized pasta, not tiny elbow macaroni, but nice, big pieces, the spot on correct cheese blend and creamy sauce. The service today was two extremely attentive young men who made it a pleasure. The day after such a big weekend event you’d be prepared to give them a pass as you know everyone had to be shot. But if anything was remotely off today, you sure couldn’t tell. I got to visit with Lilly, the owner and Howie, chef to the stars. But today, it was just me. Great place, great food, great service. People of Carthage, you should guard this jewel and make sure it thrives!

This cozy little lunch spot is a good option on the square. It’s a bit pricey relative to the area, but the food is indeed good so I would go back. It’s mostly salads and sandwiches, but it’s a pretty good variety within those two categories and there were many that sounded good. My only real complaint is one of my biggest pet peaves — it isn’t clear if customers are supposed to wait to be seated or seat themselves. A simple sign would do the trick. Being a small place, there isn’t always a server in the dining area to direct customers what to do when they walk in.

Excellent food and customer service would highly recommend to anyone if you happen to be in the Carthage Square.

Heard the rumors about the Sunday brunch buffet at this place and they were true — it was delicious! Setup like a catered or top tier hotel brunch, there were breakfast items(bacon, eggs, potatoes, sausage, biscuits, gravy) and also lunch(pork chops, baked fish, casseroles, beans, rolls, soup and salad). Food was all fresh and well prepared. Tables are like those in your kitchen and drinks are served in colored mason jars. Dessert included homemade strawberry rhubarb pie and a very good lemon cake. We’ve been back for brunch again(different lunch items but still good) and for lunch — the hoagie sandwiches are more like paninis and were excellent. Go here instead of Panera!

My sister and I brought my dad and stepmom here for Father’s Day lunch and everything on the buffet was very good, had a nice salad bar and dessert included. The hostess said they usually have brunch on Sunday but for Father’s Day they had a special buffet. Everyone was very friendly.

Home cookin’ at its best. Flavorful sandwiches and burgers. Had the good fortune to hit there buffet…(Friday and Sunday’s) Outstanding! Chef didn’t invent Lasagna, but he’s perfected it. Loved the staff and overall vibe. Healthy veggies too. Simple and delicious!
