After hitting a used bookstore in Joplin, my wife and I decided to head down the road to Carthage and check out this store. We were greeted by a friendly elderly lady who was at the counter and explained to us how the store was laid out as well as the sales that were taking place. She left us to our own devices, and I can honestly tell you that my wife had better self control than I did. Though not by much. She found a few paperbacks, and I picked up some vintage Joplin area lifestyle magazines from the mid and late 80s on the rack for .25 apiece. I love old school finds like that — especially when I wouldn’t have thought somewhere like Joplin would’ve had such a thing happening at that time. Learn something new everyday I suppose. At any rate, I think we will be back here in the future. Whatever it takes to support our odd literary fetishes and such, right?
