Burger Express

I never used to like burger express then recently they seemed to step there game up there very good now amazing food and they will substitute regular sause for the sause you like I recommend very highly

Best fast food in the area. Usually open 24hours even in a snow storm.
Upstairs food menu offers different options. Plus TVs to catch a game.

I honestly love this place. This place is open 24 hrs. They have everything. Burgers. Cheese fries. Sandwiches. Fried chicken. Panini’s. When you are craving something delicious go here! It’s not far from me and I love it. It’s amazing!!!
PS on Unilocal this place says they close at 12 but they are open 24 HOURS!

What can I say, I really this place. I’ve been coming to Burger Express since the original one used to be open. This one is much nicer and modern and thankfully the food hasn’t changed. The chicken is real good, the burgers are always consistent, the corn nuggets are a great side and the cheese fries are good too just don’t leave them in the box if you get takeout (the steam ruins them). Porkroll and cheese on a roll is pretty good too, even though they call it Taylor ham here. I am sure I’ll be back soon.

I first have to say… I only eat turkey burgers so this review is solely based on that… ok it was late and this place was open, we’ll drive thru, no biggie. My friend wanted a chocolate shake, I figured they would have it… NOT. They didn’t have any shakes. Oh well. I got the turkey burger… all of the fix’ins look great, bun was nicely toasted and it was a good size. I had to cut mine in half and couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into it. But when I saw the meat, I said… uhh this is poultry? I’ve been eating turkey burgers for over 20 yrs, I’ve never seen this color or texture. It was gray and like a harden pâté. I took a tiny piece amd ate it, yup like flavoless clay. I was so nervous I added more condiments for flavor. I didn’t eat the 2^nd half. Not a great experience. I didn’t get sick or anything.
When folks talk about turkey burgers and how much they dislike them, this is what they are talking about.
Also the staff didn’t know what they fry their french fries in. they knew it wasn’t vegetable oil. SCARY. My friend had a chicken something.. sandwich/​panini, he enjoyed it.
I’m sure they do beef burgers OK they seem to be crowded.

I do not understand how this place has decent reviews because the «food» is less than mediocre. Stale bun. Bun to burger ratio was off and I wouldn’t even call that beef cartilage patty anything reminiscent of actual meat. Do not come here unless you want to feel sick from eating garbage food. Go somewhere else. ANYWHERE else!

Ordered fried chicken, corn nuggets, mashed potatoes and gravy biscuits and coleslaw for a work event and it was all so delicious. And they delivered right on time!

I love their cheese fries! A little pricey but the food is good and better than the average drive through fast food.

Love the chicken sandwich with cheese fries or the taylor ham egg and cheese. The burgers are also pretty good. If you’re ever in Carteret, this is a must! Drive thru open ²⁴⁄₇ which is perfect for the late night munchies!

Just had the chicken sandwich, overcooked, small (barely filled the roll). Quality poor… Been that way for some time now. Not the same Burger Express from way back. Sadly, probably my last visit.

Almost hard to call this place fast food! The cheese fries. Amazing. The burgers. Amazing. The chicken sandwich. Amazing. Turkey Club. Amazing. The fact that the drive thru is open ²⁴⁄₇ is incredible, especially on those late nights out where nothing is open! ⁵⁄₅ stars, you GOTTA love this place !

The only thing good about this place is the quick service and the somewhat decent burger they serve up. The price is really over the top compared to what you get. $ 10+ for a meal on average for fast food is really unheard of. Their drinks have more ice than any place I’ve been to in my life. It’s literally ice to the brim.

The best chicken sandwich on earth. The cheese fries are a phenomenon.
For the type of food it is, 5 stars.

I will never order from that restaurant again the girls at work the night shift are rude they’re constantly messing up my order I work night shift so I’m only there for a short lunch break and like I said the girls they’re constantly mess up my order they can never get a simple order right I will never order from their again rude nasty girls that work there never again.

I have been here many times. The meals are always consistent. It is worth the trip.
This place is Clean and the interior is industrial. ThEY now have that new coke machine that makes any kind of concoction soda you can think of and it’s self serve and FREE REFILLS.

I dunno what to say about this place lol I’ve been here a handful of times and it really is the only place to eat around here. Carteret is one of those towns that when you Unilocal for a place, most of the results are outside of the city. Especially if you’re like me and don’t eat fast food.
Never done the drive thru, but I can imagine that taking forever. I’m also not a big red meat eater, so I’ve only had the chicken sandwiches. They’re alright, not bad or horrible. I remember liking the fries a lot more than I thought I would though.
They also have green tea. Which is awesome. There’s a bar upstairs, Never been there though.
They also have special nights, live bands, etc.
Which I admire. It’s good for the community and livens up the area.
There is nothing around here.

My guilty pleasure! Chicken sammy and cheese fries please… ALWAYS! Occasionally I share an order of mozz sticks, pretty good. Used to be my first stop from Newark Airport when I flew home from school… when it was the 70’s style dive right off of Exit 12. I hit it up occasionally these days, but back in high school they guy that worked the drivethru knew us by voice and name.

Awesome little place! Really cool hybrid between a «semi» fast food joint (high quality for fast food) downstairs and a cozy, really nice sports bar right above. They also have a drive through which I have never used. Bartenders are always super friendly and attentive, and they have a handful of great craft beers on tap including one of my favorites – Riverhorse Hopalotamus. They have a good seasonal rotation as well. Great place to go with good friends or solo for a post work brew. I go back any time I can!
