Theyre finally open with the same phone number but different business name: Pollo Vermont — however this name does not come up when searched on google etc. so i tried mamitas grill number and someone picked up. Hope this helps!!! They have the best chicken, let me try with the new name and see. Will be posting a review if the taste is the same

Love it here, we came to celebrate my birthday, I never deviate from my lomo saltado and ceviche. Had the yuca a la huancaina and fried plantains. every thing was delicious as usual. The green chile sauce/dip they give with bread is also really good

This place looks shutdown… I arrived around 1:00pm on Wednesday and the inside looks like its been closed for a while, so i wouldn’t advise anyone to make the trip here

After my second try(finding out it was close on Mondays), the food wasn’t what I excepted. Chicken and rice were a bit dry; garden salad, nothing out of the originality. Staff were great though. Don’t expect this place to be a dine-in joint. Strictly take-out only.

One of my FAVS for a quick lunch! PARKING: Can be incredibly spotty at times. I once had to stalk until someone pulled out of the packed strip mall lot. There’s not many options for street parking either since it’s on the corner of two busy busy boulevards. LUNCHSPECIAL: Whatever it is that day– GETIT. Such a great deal clocking in under $ 7 with a drink. –Chicken: Great flavor and SKIN. Mmm can’t resist that rotisserie skin. –Green sauce: slightly too much mayo for my liking, but it adds a nice kick.

i really love this juicy chicken and I go over there every weekend. Also green sauce is yammy, yammy! That is small place, but if you read this and you are neighbor, try it!

Overview: Mamita’s Grill is a pretty-much-take-out-only(if you ignore the fold-up table that seats two) Peruvian restaurant located on the north-east corner of Carson St and Figueroa in Torrance, just a block away from Harbor-UCLA medical center. It offers simple foods at good values($ 6 lunch specials as of May, 2015) and their pork and chicken options are both filling and flavorful. The Food: I ordered both the chicken and the pork lunch specials and was delighted. The Thursday chicken special comes with two big pieces of potato covered in what I think is hollandaise sauce, as well as a nice bed of green noodles(pesto?). The pork special came with a few tender pieces of succulent and flavorful pork, a tiny green salad, beans, and rice(see photo below.) In my opinion the chicken was dry and was less filling than expected, but the overall meal was good and well portioned. I would say it is definitely worth the $ 6. The pork in my opinion was better than the chicken and definitely easier to eat as I didn’t have to peel it off any bones. The sides(noodles, beans, rice, potato pieces) were all very flavorful and well prepared and complemented the main protein well. The Service: It’s take-out so don’t expect anything fancy. Your food is made very quickly and the wait was less than 5 minutes when I came on a Thursday afternoon(2PM). The chef and the cashier were Asian which surprised me as this is a Peruvian themed restaurant but hey, if it tastes good, it doesn’t matter who makes it, right? The Establishment: In a small shopping center with a parking lot. It’s tiny, only has a small fridge with some canned sodas and such, and seating for 2 on a fold-up table. Don’t plan on taking a date here. Conclusions: Mamita’s grill is a great Peruvian place to grab a quick lunch to go, especially if you enjoy chicken or pork products. It’s a good value, offers some unique flavors, and does have a parking lot. If the chicken had been more moist and tender, I would have given it 5-stars.

Great family-owned joint in a tiny strip mall that serves yummy rotisserie chicken. They have fast service & seriously amazing prices. Their daily specials are a great deal at $ 5.99. Pretty sure all orders include a drink, which is awesome. I paid less than $ 7 for a quarter chicken with two sides(potato salad + garlic beans) and a drink. Their green sauce doesn’t come close to my first love(Mario’s in LA) but it’s creamy and spicy and still goes well with the establishment’s rotisserie chicken.

Better chicken than El Pollo Inka in Gardena. The green sauce is amazing. Drizzle it on your meal. There is no other way to describe the beans besides heavenly. I came here three times in a row one week because even my family agrees, this place is great. What is better than a family owned(hole in the wall, literally) restaurant with great smiles, great food, and great service?

So after having closed for 2 months due to management issues, Mamita’s is officially back and stronger than ever. Their signature chicken(Peruvian«a la brasa» style) has not changed since my last review, so my comments their still apply(summary: it’s awesome). What has changed is stepping up of their lunch specials. For $ 5.99, you get a quarter chicken, 3 sides(each day of the week is different, but they will even let you switch out the ones you want), plus a drink. This is quite a deal, and the food is darn good. Their one and only shortcoming is that the only main dish they have is their chicken, but hey, there’s no shame in sticking to what you’re good at. I will be back. Closed Mondays.

Found this place on Unilocal — thought I’d try it out. This is a little hole in the wall joint. Husband went to pick up food & said it was tiny inside with one little table. I ordered the ¼ chicken(breast & wing) combo with rice & green salad as my side options. My husband ordered the ½ chicken with beans and rice. The flavor of the chicken was good — it did not have the same smoky flavor as Pollo A La Brasa, but nevertheless — it was still delicious. The beans also had very good flavor. I was shocked at the generous portion size of the salad. It came in a completely separate container! The aji sauce was creamy with just the right amount of spice.

I spotted Mamita’s Grill during one of my visits to Handugan which is next door. I got a menu from them and found out that they specialize in Peruvian style rotisserie chicken which I am not a big fan of so I just bookmarked them and finally after a couple of months decided to give them a try. As reported in my review for Cajun Caleb even though Mamita’s Grill is located in a small strip mall that hosts Handugan, Cajun Caleb and another bunch of businesses with a small lot it never seems to be completely full so accessibility and parking is not an issue. Again Mamita’s Grill is a strictly to-go place with I guess one or two tables inside(if I remember correctly). When I entered at the peak lunch hour the restaurant was completely empty. I decided to get the half chicken combo($ 8.99) which has half a rotisserie chicken and two sides for which I selected rice and potato salad. The sweet lady behind the counter offered me samples of their sides so that I could choose but I politely declined which I regretted later. The chicken also comes with two small containers of the green sauce that is standard with Peruvian style food(aji sauce). I could pay by card so that was another plus. Taste wise the chicken was grilled excellently but not perfectly. There were some areas around the breast that were very dry which means it was over-grilled, but it was pretty good overall. The rice was also steamed perfectly no issues. The potato salad was bland. This is where I regret not having tasted the sides as I would not have gone with the potato salad after tasting it. In hindsight the beans would have been a better choice as eating plain rice is not my thing. The aji sauce seemed very heavy and I guess had a lot of margarine as I could almost feel its grainy texture so I wasn’t a very big fan of that and felt the one given in Pollo A La Brasa was much better. When I was ordering I saw that they have some lunch specials from Monday to Friday which have different set combinations like a piece of chicken with green rice or green noodles etc. all for $ 5.99 which would be a much better deal that the half chicken combo. Unfortunately as I visited on a weekend I couldn’t get those and felt that I ended up with a very average meal. I plan to return some weekday during lunch hours to try one of their specials, but I don’t think that I will return for just the rotisserie chicken alone. This is more of a personal choice rather than a major deficiency in their product or service.

Located in a small strip mall where parking can be a little tough during lunch, Mamita’s Grill is just the best thing to hit Carson since the rain showers of the great summer drought of 2009. Don’t get me wrong, I love to travel to eat great food and I’d drive to Gardena or South Torrance for other excellent chicken a la brasa spots but sometimes it’s just nice to stay local after a long day at work and get your garlic infused everything chicken dinner on! The staff is great and the service is fairly quick, there’s no tables but a small bar top which I’ve never seen used so call it in for even faster service. Menu is simple and they offer lunch specials you cannot get during dinner(I repeat) lunch special items are not even an option after 4pm so get there early and try the chef specials which will blow your taste buds to high heaven. The chicken is moist and full of flavor, the rice must be garlic infused but I haven’t asked and the green sauce isn’t the most flavorful but it’s top 5 and has just the right amount of kick to keep you awake during your mid meal food coma! The fries are spot on authentic, so when you order the fries don’t expect your average mom n pop deep fried French fries. These are your average top of the line Peruvian fries, cooked soft but with a little crunch when bitten into. The beans are delicious when mixed with the rice and the coleslaw is just good enough to keep you happy. So if you haven’t tried it, it is a must for local residents and if you disagree with me then I’ll have a suggestion box where you can grab some tissue and cry about it. I’ve had it several times and different times and the chicken is consistent with greatness throughout the day!

Remember one thing… closed Mondays. There is no seating except for 3 low bar seats. I had the chicken which is deliciously seasoned. Even the white rice has flavor! Next time I want to try the other specials Do yourself a favor, grab some for lunch or dinner and enjoy it at home. P. S. Their green sauce is creamy.

They should give back the stamp cards again to customers, it motivates people to visit more often :) cuz its a 20 min drive for us

I happened upon this location by accident, since I wanted to go to Cajun Caleb but it was closed. I sure am glad I came here. The gentleman who was on the counter was friendly and accomodating. He was helpful too since he explained to me the options I have. Affordable meals. Two whole chickens, three 24 oz. sides, and aji sauce for only $ 28.99. There are also smaller meal options but I need to feed the family! The chicken tasted as good as it smelled. Moist and flavorful, even the white part which I think was quite impressive. I ate a quarter chicken by myself! I even got a breast part and to those who know me, knows I love my legs and wings! The rice was infused with garlic water and add the black beans to amp the flavor! I don’t even like beans! Make sure to ask for extra aji sauce… it is delicious. The family even loved it. Parking is small and is shared with other small establishments. I don’t think it wil be an issue though. The place is more for take-out not for dine-in. The gentleman assured me that I will be coming back… and I will! The menu is small but they do it really well.

Juicy, savory pollo a la brasa + spicy aji verde sauce = Peruvian food bliss! I recently had a chance to try out the newly opened Mamita’s Grill and really liked their take on pollo a la brasa or Peruvian chicken. A whole chicken is $ 10.95 and for that you get a large chicken that is flavorful and moist. Dip into their spicy aji verde sauce and it is even more delicious! The spicy aji verde sauce compliments their chicken here very well. It’s has just the right kick to add a fiery flavor to the seasoned chicken. I love how they’re not stingy with the sauce because my to-go order came with four packs of the aji verde! Pollo a la brasa has always been one of my favorites and it’s nice to have a new place that offers it just right. The chicken alone is delicious but the aji verde sauce added to it, makes it a true winner! That spicy green sauce definitely lit a fire in this foodie’s heart ;).

Grand Opening: March 7, 2014 Specialty: Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken I posted some pictures of my first visit on 03/08/2014. You can order hot food or pick up some cold ready to go food in the fridge. Pretty handy for people on the go. They are still working on their menu and setup. Expect some changes on menu and prices. 03⁄1302:00PMPST — Ordered the Whole Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken(To Go). Wow! I was not disappointed! Very well seasoned and sooooo moist! And for $ 10.99 you can’t pass this up! Don’t come too late, they tend to run out of chicken a couple hours before they close. Phone orders work great! :)
