Gross. They have an A in the window, but when we first walked in, a dirty smell hit my nose and my 4 and 6 year olds both declared«It smells like potty in here!». My husband was super hungry and proceeded into the spot, so I went in and sat in one of their many empty, broken booths on a Friday night. The table side guacamole was made with avocados FULL of those strand fibers that you simply shouldn’t serve… I ordered nachos… Which came with carrots on them… OK, I can get with it if they were awesome pickled Mexican style carrots… I put the first one in my mouth and it was definitely«off». I couldn’t put my finger on the problem. But when I came to another carrot, I paid attention and realized the taste of the carrot was the same bad smell we encountered upon entering the place. I tried to talk myself out of gagging, but no, I had to spit that bite out immediately. My mouth was doing its job to save my system from imminent food poisoning. Those words are harsh, I know, but that’s my honest experience, and I felt it was my duty to try and bring these inflated reviews down to reality.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. Never had an issue with them until today. I decided to venture off from my norm of pozole(verde) and chili verde burrito and ordered a chicken chimichanga. Mistake! I asked for the shredded chicken and to substitute the sauce for verde sauce. I forget they have two different kinds so when it came it was wet(which I don’t care for a wet burrito) it had lettuce on top(another minus) the verde sauce was a bit too sour for my taste which comes from not enough seasoning in the tomatillos sauce or too much vinegar in a canned sauce. The inside of the burrito had about a 80:20 ratio of bell pepper to meat, rice and beans. I didn’t understand why it was like this. I left 80% of it on the plate and just had the waitress take it away. She asked if anyr bing was wrong with it, I told her I wasn’t aware all of this was inside and she apologized for not asking me if I wanted a fajita chimichanga(which that was) I told her no I wouldn’t ever order that. She apologized again and just gave me the bill. I was charged for the more expensive fajita chimichanga, then the one I wanted which was simply shredded chicken. This was a pretty piss poor way to handle the situation after I told her it was all wrong. I didn’t argue it because overall I have never had a negative experience here. The last thing was they«ran out of guacamole» RANOUT!!! on a Friday when the dinner rush hasn’t even started yet! The place has great green pozole everyday. Their Taquitos are on point. The beans are average, salsa is the one of the best around. They literally have every mexican item you can think of. I enjoy Lupitas for the basic bean and cheese burrito to their chili verde burrito. A must stop if your in Carson. Park in the back if no parking is available in front.

We come here often and I really like it but I think it’s a little bit on the pricy side for what you get. waiting for a negative to give me a reason to stop coming here. Once Goan food is great but I question the price.

Good prices, good food, good service… Crispy chicken taco plate — great! Red salsa was obviously homemade nice and chunky and spicy! Potato tacos good but greasy… Taco salad with ground was very tasty and topped with guac and sour cream… Fresh lettuce…

The server was slow and got half my order wrong. The food was okay. Not super. I’m Mexican and know what good Mexican food should taste like. The flan was not good either.

Best margaritas in Carson. Try the strawberry/banana margarita. Good food at a decent price. They offer a dining area and area just for drinks. Parking is available in front or next door at a very small stip mall.

I was looking for a good Mexican restaurant close by and figured this would be a winner with all the great Unilocal reviews. Unfortunately we had a very different experience. My husband and I showed up around dinner time, maybe 7 or so, on a Friday night and the restaurant was completely empty. Immediately I thought this was a bad sign… but so many great reviews couldn’t be wrong, could they? We walked in and found a waitress and I asked her if they were even open. She said yes so we sat at a booth and looked at menus. Husband ordered a margarita, I just had water. Chips and salsa were meh. Chips weren’t hot and I didn’t really care for the salsas they had. Margarita was also just basically mix poured in a glass. We both ordered combos, tacos and a tostada. Overall the food was very bland. The crispy taco shells were still on the chewy side and tasted like the oil they had been fried in needed to be changed. The tostada was nice and crisp but the beans were completely flavorless. Additionally, even though we were pretty much the only patrons, waters never got refilled so I ended up drinking both mine and his. Hate to say it, but it was just a very disappointing experience overall. Don’t think we will return.

Thank you Unilocal!Visiting LA. On the way to Rancho Palos Verde searched for a local restaurant and Lupita’s drew our attention. Glad it did. Service was very friendly. Food was amazing. Burritos were enormous. Hope to have the opportunity to go back.

Ive never eaten here the 4 years I’ve seen it across from my church until today but I’d have to say that it’s so nice and cozy here! It was literally empty and smelled a little weird when we walked in for dinner but it was so warming that we decided to stay We got the carne Asada burrito and the chorizo burrito and the waitress was really nice and patient with us(we’re Filipino and suck at ordering Mexican food) and she has a really cute laugh lol The food was pretty yummy hehe it fulfilled my chorizo burrito craving The horchata tasted like the one at el pollo loco but it was a bit warm and was just what I wanted. I only come here for one thing. The grilled fish tacos. They are my favorite here. I like their salsa. Cool spot to stop by when you’re in Carson.

We found this place by accident, and I’m so glad we did! The food was amazing, everything tastes homemade, fresh and delicious. I had the shrimp tacos and my boyfriend has the spinach enchiladas, both were great. The service was good, the ambience is quaint. The woman whom I think is the owner is pleasant, polite, and was helping to serve tables. We both wonder if she is Lupita. This is our new date night spot!

Great food! Home made and delicious! Chile Verde was tender and flavorful. Save room for flan. You will be glad you did! Justifiable calories!

Really good Mexican comfort food. Not great, but good. I’ve been there a dozen or so times over the years and the carnitas plate is definitely the best dish that I’ve had.

Wow, those chips. The crack chips come out piping hot, have the perfect thickness and size, are perfectly crispy, and are perfectly salted. The house salsa makes a perfect complement. I can’t get over how good the chips are. Just. Wow. I’ve dined at a lot of Mexican joints and this place seriously serves the best chips ever. Everything else was good, too. But man, those chips! *explodes from chip overdose*

This is a legit Mexican restaurant. They make fresh homemade salsa and guacamole. My daughter and I had the Tijuana burrito and the steak fajitas, both of which were very good. Lots of crisp veggies in our meal, average Spanish rice and fantastic re-fried beans. The menu looks just like the menu at any other Mexican restaurant but the food is prepared with great care and served fresh! There are a lot of choices for Mexican in the area but Lupita’s is worth a visit. The place is small but the dining room is ample, the back patio is nice and they have plenty of TV’s to watch sports. Staff was very friendly, and the service was good.
