Tony’s crabzilla is delicious. The service is spotty at times but most of the time we get decent service. We usually order to-go anyways. Kei sushi is another good place but kim Lee’s is closer to us.

The service is always outstanding. The food is always fresh and apealing. My favorite is the Wolf Pack roll. The chefs are always willing to make new special rolls if your not sure what you want. Everytime I come to visit Carson this is my sushi spot to go to.

The sushi is good, but the customer service sucks. They were rude to my little sister who was 1 at the time. She was being a usual loud baby. They made my family feel unwelcome and told my mom that she pretty much needs to shut her up. They got up and left because of how rude they were. From that point on we no longer eat there because they are not welcoming to families. Another time I dined here with friends and it was good at first, and then we waited almost an HOUR for our second roll. RIDICULOUS. No longer eating here. Plenty of other better places in Carson. Another thing, they charge full price for kids. Ridiculous. FAMILIESARENOTWELCOME. Go to Nationals Café.

I had heard good things about this place and how their sushi is great… but I beg to differ. It’s a nice option for Carson City, but I don’t think it’s a place I’d beg to go to again. Surprisingly, on a slow day service is extremely slow. Seriously…10 minutes to get us our drinks and another 10+min to take our order, and then another long wait for the food to arrive? Sort of ridiculous, especially if one is on lunch and is strapped with time! Sushi was decent and price is fair, which is why I give it the 3 stars, but again, it wasn’t memorable to me(maybe I just have picky taste buds: p).

My boyfriend and I eat sushi all of the time! We have tried other places but kim lees is our favorite. I like to have more of the raw fish rolls and he likes the fried. There is a wide variety of choices and we aren’t ever waiting long, even when they are busy. The quality of food is great and so is the service. I highly recommend them!

If you follow my reviews, you probably know that Kei Sushi is my favorite sushi restaurant in the Carson area(sorry Kim Lee). However, that isn’t to say that Kim Lee’s is bad. Not at all, actually. I just personally prefer the rolls at Kei in most cases. But there are some definite positives about Kim Lee’s that may even trump Kei Sushi. For one, their hours are more reasonable. Kei Sushi is actually closed on Mondays, which is kind of inconvenient if you want sushi… on Mondays. Kei also has limited hours for All You Can Eat(3pm-8pm), as opposed to Kim Lee’s 3pm-to-close policy. There are also several menu items that I absolutely love at Kim Lee’s. First and foremost, Alma’s Heavenly Rice Balls are divine. Seriously, so good. They’re quite possibly my favorite from the restaurant. My second favorite is the Breakfast Roll. It reminds me a bit of the Tom Roll from Kei Sushi(my absolute favorite of all-time), except with added flavors. My party and I also enjoy ordering the Lily Roll, the Upside Down Shrimp, the Red Dragon Roll, and the Fuji Mountain Roll(very similar to Kei’s Fuji Mountain Roll). We’ve tried various others in the several times we’ve been here; the Red Dragon Roll, the Shaggy Dog, the Macho, etc. But the ones listed first are our go-to favorites. In terms of portions and taste, the Nigiri has an unbalanced fish-to-rice ratio. In fact, most of their rolls fall prey to that problem. The chunks of fish are usually just that — chunky. Their flavor sometimes completely out-tastes the other ingredients of the roll. However, the rolls themselves are a good size. They’re about what you’d expect from any sushi restaurant. As for appetizers, the miso soup is delicious. It has some kind of sprout mixed in along with the broth and tofu. The Cucumber Salad is also great. Moving on to service; compared to Kei Sushi, Kim Lee’s is slow. Perhaps it’s just an occasion-based observation, but every time we go to Kim Lee’s we end up waiting awhile in-between rolls. Sometimes we can be patient, but when you’re starving that can be hard to do. With all that being said, the people are generally very kind and helpful when you can get their attention. Another thing worth noting; they have television. Kei Sushi actually doesn’t, which can sometimes be a major deciding factor for my family. If it’s Thursday or Sunday, then we’ll eat at Kim Lee’s because the football games are on and Lord knows it would be a sin to miss those. All-in-all, this is a good restaurant. I personally prefer the menu items and efficient service that can be found at Kei. But I have no qualms about going to Kim Lee’s as a substitute. Those in the area, it’s definitely worth a try. Happy feasting.

Well if you want to wait 10 to 15 minutes between rolls then you’ve come to the right place. What we have had so far is okay at best. Very slow service. There are lots of choices in Carson City and Kim Lee’s Sushi is no longer on that list.

Really, really good sushi with a creative menu and friendly staff. Rolls were quite large and the price very reasonable. Oysters on the half were very fresh and tasted great. Should I ever get to the area again I will certainly stop here. Thank you for a great dinner!

My wife and I love this place, the service is great and the sushi is on point. The only gripe I have is the atmosphere, it seems a little dated and bleak but the food is good and the customer service is great!

We absolutely adore Kim Lee’s! We make plans to go in for their AYCE lunch every couple months and are always welcomed with smiles. I have to give a shout out to Joe, the best chef I’ve had the pleasure of meeting here in Carson. He is always open, friendly and knowledgeable. The first time I went, he actually made up a dessert role for me since they didn’t have the ingredients for the one I ordered. Now that’s a chef! Now, onto the food. I’ve been to a few sushi places in the Carson/Reno area and have to say, Kim Lee’s still has the best menu. Not only does their menu offer more selection, the quality is always through the roof. I’ve never had a bad meal here. The ambiance is pretty laid back, not very«Japanese» like many other places I have tried. The bar is small and dimly lit, but this is kind of a bonus for us as we prefer it to big and bright. There really is nothing else I can say other than go, go, go!

So, came here because Kei Sushi was too busy. I’m sure you’re thinking«hummm, I want sushi»…well, don’t come here. Too much rice, sloppy roll work, and not fresh fish.

Alright… The food tastes pretty good. I had to much to tell you what I had… But the bad part was how slow service was… It took 30 min to get 3 rolls… Now the question is was It busy? Not at all… It was super slow… Never got out water filled… They didn’t earn my win because of customer service… But like I said food was good… Not worth the wait.

The only reason I am rating Kim Lee’s with 2 stars is because of the owner. The food here is always amazing. Whenever I go out for sushi in Carson, I make sure we go here. Joe is the absolute best and knows each roll I order, by memory. I never go anywhere else in town but after my experience last night, I might. I sat with Joe, and again, the food was amazing. Yet, when we got up to pay the OWNER of the store bitched about having to «split a check» in front of a line full of people waiting to pay. By saying to another worker there, «can we make a new rule where we don’t do anymore split checks… ever!» I didn’t know that your customers giving you money was a big issue? This is not the first time that I’ve heard the owner was a dick. I just never experienced it for myself. This town is too small, he’ll figure it out.

I’m baffled why this place is voted best sushi in Carson. I had sashimi ahi. I couldn’t believe it when I was served a plate that had obviously been sliced and prepared a day(or more) in advance. The ahi was gelatinous looking as it had been refrigerated after being sliced and hadn’t been well covered or wrapped. It looked a little like Mexican spicy carrot slices on a plate. Not good. Anyway, maybe people like it because it is cheap? I’d rather pay a little more and get quality sushi that doesn’t make me wonder if I will be sick. I won’t be back. 2÷26÷15: Charles, thanks for your response. I can assure you this was my experience and is in no way ‘fake’. Having worked in a sushi bar, I know pre-prepared sashimi when I see it. I may give you another shot as I said, my experience does not match what others state here, so maybe it was just a really bad night for the staff?

Very good oysters on a Tuesday night. Tried a California roll, but it was just ok. Nice staff and clean restaurant.

Whoa! Now this was bad. My wife and I love Japanese food and went there after looking at their menu online. I had an urge for the Yaki Soba and she wanted to try the try their Teriyaki Beef with Tempura Vegetables. My dish looked like something you would get on a $ 3.95 lunch special hotline and there was not much of it. The flavor was mediocre and nothing to write home to mother about. Clearly not a $ 10.95 dish. My wife’s had some thin strips of tough beef in a bottled Teriyaki sauce put next to some white rice. The Tempura Vegetable were fine, not the best, but OK. $ 12.95 was a sad joke on us. We have been in many Sushi Bars and our first instinct when looking at the raw fish, its color and storage, was not in this life time buddy. I’m sure there are many patrons that enjoy their Sushi and, in all fairness, we did not try it. If you want to go for Sushi by all means go for it. If you don’t make it, well, it was a pleasure having you on the planet. What would Chesty do?
