I was up here in Carson at the Costco looking around the meat department for something for the weekend BBQ. Costco meat department carries Prime Grade meats, much higher end and tender then«Choice» grade which is still better than the«select» grade carried at most grocery stores. I always don’t find super marbled beef here, but I keep an eye out whenever I’m here. You can tell by the look of the meat and poking your finger at the meat. The better marbled ones will feel more firm, cause when cold, fat doesn’t compress easily. The less marbled ones are more red and squish feeling. I found these bad boys the last time I was here. Oh boy, did those suckers BBQ up so nice. Better than most any restaurant steak, unless you go super high end $ 40 a plate steakhouse. The steaks were about 12 oz. or more each and were around $ 10 each. Sounds like a lot for a take home and cook steak, but it was really worth it as a treat! The rest of the meat department is really good as well … where can you get a big ass rotisserie chicken for $ 5.00 bucks! All the grocery stores have smaller ones that cost more! There is a good selection of seafood as well as pork and lamb. I like Costco meats!

I come here when I need ALOTOFMEAT. Usually this involves a camping trip in which I’m responsible for feeding hungry outdoorsy folks or if I’m doing yet another homeless feed in which I’m facing 250 people with empty bellies. For camping trips, I need steaks, rib-eyes usually, and while it’s a splurge, we’ve never had any complaints(but really, a piece of meat grilled over an open campfire rarely incites complaints). But here’s the real treasure: they have the BEST rotisserie chicken. Ever. I don’t know what the combination of seasonings they use, but the just shy of $ 5, you simply cannot get a better bargain on a whole chicken that has perfectly moist meat without flabby chicken skin.
