Can’t believe this place is closed, hopefully they will open back up soon. A little review about this cinema before they closed they would keep up with the new movies and also indie premieres. The food was not as good as it once was I’m not sure if the original cooks quit but it was definitely not the same. The bartender did a great job with the drinks, and the staff was attentive. I hope they open back up soon because this cinema is right across the street from me.

Antiquated. But good food n drinks. Clean. Enjoyed it much more than smg. They try to keep the place like an old time theater.

Will make for a great theater after a major remodel. It wasn’t modern looking at all from the beginning. Too bad it closed. Hopefully they can hire people who know how to treat their guests the right way. RIPCLOSEDRIP

I enjoyed this place while it was open. Only reason why is because it’s close by, doesn’t cost much to see a movie like most theatres and never crowded. Screens are nice and sound is good. I noticed the menu change which is ok depending on how busy they get. Food use to be better when they first opened. Me and my son were wanting to see a movie yesterday and I tried looking up showtimes and couldn’t find any. So we drove up there only to find a note from the landlord on the door saying they weren’t paying rent. I think this is a great place. They just didn’t get enough business which caused them to not provide the service people wanted. Not enough advertising for the theatre. It was a good location, most people in Carrollton didn’t know it was even there and when they saw it, they didn’t know what it was. Sad to see it closed

We have always loved Venetian cinemas — but we are here today to watch ratchet and clank to find that the menu has been redone — the prices were upped and the selection was greatly reduced… there is no more kids menu(our kids loved their Mac and cheese — the son got quite upset when he found out they don’t have any more) — the only thing left for them on the menu is a $ 12 mini-pizza that serves one kid… meaning our trip has now increased in price from being ~$ 50 a trip to ~$ 75 for our family of 4. They also dumped all of the salad options and pastas… it is now either a choice of Pizza $ 12 Quesadilla $ 14 Chicken strips $ 13.50 Burger $ 15 Chicken sandwich $ 14 Drinks start at $ 4 Save yourself some frustration and go to the colony studio movie grill.

More like three and half stars. Not the best place to take someone to as a fancy date but perfect for cheap casual date. The ticket prices are cheaper compared to main stream theaters ESPECIALLY if you go during their special pricing hours. The theater inside does have that musky smell but it never bothered me that much. The seats are like those fancy office chairs and some of them lean back far and some of them don’t. I’m sure you could work it somehow so they would lean back but I never figured out how lol Not only the cheap ticket prices but I like this place for their cheap drinks! I like to order their $ 5 house wines but they have other drinks for cheap and they make the drinks strong. I used to order their cheese plate they used to have and they would go so well with wine but they removed it off the menu long time ago. I’ve tried their fried pickles which was yummy and the portion was big too! Their service is mostly good to okay.

My husband and I went for the first time tonight. We stayed a whole 7 minutes from the time we walked in to the time we got our money back and walked out. The first thing you notice is the tacky, cheap décor and the terrible musty smell. Then we walked in to theater 7. The chairs are just regular office swivel chairs. The one I initially sat in was broken. The floors were so filthy and sticky that my flip flop got stuck. Worst theater I’ve ever been to and only time I’ve ever walked out and asked for my money back. Definitely not worth the $ 9.

This has become my favorite new movie theater! The prices are great, the people are nice and the theater is beautiful! I seriously don’t understand the mixed reviews! Dont know why people would not like this place! Iv come here about 4 times recently and will always choose this place over the expensive other options in the area! Keep up the great work and the décor is amazing! A great experience every time!

Like most dinner + movie venues, the food seems good at first glance, maybe even after a couple bites. But when you finish you realized you just paid 20% more than you would have at a restaurant for mediocre food. The drinks offered at the bar are quite good, but again, a little pricey. The theatres themselves are very unimpressive. I remember the first time I walked in and felt very mislead by the outer and lobby décor. A venue that dares to call itself something as grand as «Venetian Theatres», offers a small, bare bones projection screen in what could easily be mistaken for a conference or event room. You might as well drive straight past this place and go to LOOK cinemas in Addison or Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson.

Went for the first time recently & saw Zoolander 2. This place is pretty run down. Chairs are torn up & questionable. However, the servers were friendly & the movie quailty was good. Got the chips & queso as a snack to hold us off until dinner, everything came out warm but the queso & salsa came out in little plastic saucers… Whaaat… Just not a classy place to take your date… Stick to Alamo Drafthouse.

Environment: The lobby and hallways definitely give a feeling the lives up to the name Venetian. However that drops off quite a bit when you enter each theater room. Looks more like you average theater room. Theater quality: Good. Equal to that of other dinner & movie places. Service: Servers were fast and friendly. We correctly received our orders. Price: Price for the tickets is average. However, price for the food is high and what you get is poor quality. Food: I’ve had Burger King burgers that tasted better. Their classic burger cost $ 13.99. I would not pay half that price for a burger of that quality. Presentation was simply bad. Venetian Supreme pizza(13.99) reminded me more of a Red Barron or Tombstone frozen pizza. Toppings were sparse and the center of the crust was still doughy. Final thoughts: While the theater/movie experience was on par with other dinner & movie places, the price to quality of their food was poor. For that, I will not return here.

My family and I went there the other night to watch Kung Fu Pand3. The place is neat. I liked the chairs, the theater, and the décor of the place. The food on the other hand wasn’t so good. The chicken wings tasted old, and one of my kids ended up getting sick from the chicken fingers. I think several people have mentioned the food. Something you as a business should consider improving.

I enjoy having a movie theater in Carrollton. I just wished the Venetian did a better job. I’ve been going here occasionally since they first opened. In my opinion, I think the quality and value of the food has taken a steep nosedive. I watched the Revenant this evening and ordered the chicken strips. They were terrible! When this theater first opened, the food was great! Lately, I think everything they have on the menu is frozen and then microwaved and offered at high prices. The one thing still positive about the Venetian is the size of the movie screen and the great sound. The size of the theater rooms are large enough, but not too large where you feel you’re at AT&T stadium. Venetian, please improve the quality and value of your food offerings! Pros– Great movie screens and sound Cons – Poor quality food priced beyond value

I went for the first time over the weekend to see Hunger Games Part 2. I was very pessimistic, because I’ve heard mixed reviews from friends and read through a few mixed reviews on this place… When you first walk into the main foyer for the first time it’s kind of strange. I immediately realized this is not your traditional«eat.drink.movie» place like Studio Movie Grill, Flix, or Alamo Draft House. You can’t see the ticket booth right when you walk in, like you can a normal theater. But then again you’re not really looking for the ticket booth, because you’re taken back by the malinard manor/traditional décor and the large fully stocked bar. The Venetian is almost fancy with it’s cheesy décor. After being taken back by the décor we made our way to the ticket booth. The TV screen behind the counter, which I assume is used to show you what movies are playing, was not working or on. So, if we were drawing a blank on what movie we wanted to see, we would have to scramble for our phones(this was also mentioned in another review), but luckily the wife new exactly what she wanted to see and the time. After getting our tickets we made our way down the very elaborate fancy hallways with all the malinard manor/traditional décor and went into our theater. The screen was MASSIVE and the décor continued throughout the theater. The seat were very nice and big; however, there was a weird speed bump on the ground that makes the chair difficult to pull out. The chair actually fell backwards as my wife was trying to pull the chair out causing a very loud bang, but luckily we got there early and we were the only ones in the theater… A group of people were running late to the movie and their chair also fell back while the movie just started. It was annoying, but it’s understandable, and a completely accident, so we didn’t get upset. Now for the food and service. This was my main worry about the Venetian, because a lot of reviews say the food is below par and the service is terrible. That was not the case for us at all! I paid my way through college by working in the service industry, so I tend to be a pretty hard critic when it comes to service and food. But, the service was great for us, they offered recommendations, and went up and beyond. My wife had a simple pepperoni pizza and I had their ravioli. Both dishes were pretty damn good. Is it the best ravioli and pizza I’ve ever had? No. But I was definitely surprised by how good it was… I enjoyed the food more at the Venetian, than the food at Studio Movie Grill. I also think the prices are lower at the Venetian. All in all it was a fun experience that made me wish I tried this place out a long time ago! Naturally I would have given this place 4 stars, but I feel this place deserves more than the average 3 stars it currently has. So, I’m giving 5 stars to help boost the average.

Worst experience ever! My first time here and it was happily my last! I walk in and the television screen where the films and times needed to be listed didn’t work as did a few more screens with the movies on them didn’t. Dude said, I can tell you what’s playing. :-/ Layout was weird, so I ask the teen at the counter — do you have any more consession stands .is it JUST this bar, he says no. I walk toward the back and — there’s another concession, but they’re like you can’t purchase from here — just from the inside — weird. Dude said, it’s just like Studio Movie Grill(why would you say that, when you work at the Venetian?) I go in — look over my menu — push the button to order and I wait— and wait — and wait — and WAIT! Finally I got up and asked«am I going to get served?» he’s like yes, my server has a group and he’s backed up. My answer– this is opening weekend for xyz movie! You guys should be prepared and you knew this large group was coming. So I asked for my money back — and HAPPILY went to STUDIOMOVIEGRILL in The Colony where my service was what it should have been in the first place! Never ever coming back here!

I decided to go with two stars for this movie theater based a number of reasons. I attended a private watch party. When we arrived everything was alright, since the event was private the staff just let us go our own way, which was fine. I have been to other«dinner and movie» establishments in the past and those were of better quality. The seats in the theater were computer chairs. Which I thought was fairly«cheap». The tables/rows were like a office desk combined. For service they have a bell in front of you, and eventually(expect a extensive wait time) someone will show up. I order a drink that was specialty that a lot of people order according to the waitress. I was fairly surprised the cost was $ 9 for a movie theater cocktail. Before the end of the premier I had a terrible headache. To my surprise the drink had 5 different varieties of liquor in it(rum, vodka, gin, and whiskey). I wish I would have been told before hand it had all those in one drink. I would have went with another option. When getting the bill I noticed a alcoholic beverage tax had been added to my bill. I never heard of such a tax. I totally didn’t get that dinner and movie feel from this location. I would never visit again. Stay clear of the drinks and location.

The Venetian has the feel of a Studio Movie Grill inside the theatre: basic tables and individual chairs, however, more ornately decorated on the way in. The word ‘venetian’ describes the exterior of the movie theatre with big welcoming wrought iron doors. It is freshly renovated and inviting, compared to the rest of the strip mall. The hallway décor continues the ‘venetian’ feel with huge golden frames lining the walls. Golden mirrors in the bathroom and crystal-looking doorknobs on the stall doors elevate the theme. We caught a 5:40pm showing for Southpaw and our tickets were $ 5.50 each. SCORE!(The girl at the ticket counter wasn’t very pleasant or inviting. I think we were bothering her. When we didn’t know which way to go, she begrudgingly pointed us in the right direction.) Although we arrived 20 minutes before the movie(and the website encourages you to show up at least 30 minutes in advance) the theatre was not cleaned. A jumble of plates and spills greeted us, forging a path to our soon-to-be seats. We looked over the menu to decide what we wanted and pushed the button. The service was not prompt, as employees had assembled to wipe up spills, take away dirty plates and sweep around us. The movie grew packed during the first preview. People were scrambling to find seats, avoiding the dreaded first row. A few unpleasantries that occurred during our visit: –they were out of root beer for their root beer floats –the employees don’t know where they are going, asking around who belonged to this plate or this popcorn –the bathroom was hot as hell, the A/C may have been broken in there –the previews were BLURRY. I feared I had lost my vision or that the movie would look blurry(it didn’t) –as soon as the movie was over they cut the bright ass lights(not dim) immediately on. There was a grumble through the crowd as our eyes died. The ticket price is perfect! The lack of cleanliness is a shock, given the appeal of the theatre’s décor. The staff is there for a paycheck, nothing too overly nice or extraordinary. The menu, although providing the usual array of movie eatery options(pizza, nachos, salads), is overpriced. I ordered the quesadillas, they were okay for $ 9. My boyfriend ordered a $ 15 burger! I’d rather go to Twisted Root to spend $ 15 on a burger, but they gotta make their money elsewhere, right? The Venetian has the potential to really stand out. The reason we decided to visit was the ticket price(most movie eateries in the area charge $ 10 to $ 14). The ticket price alone is going to drive people in. We understood why the menu prices were so high but this place is visually appealing and then… dirty? They had more employees than I’ve ever seen at a movie theatre and they lacked pep in their step. I suggest eating beforehand and catching a matinée, perhaps ordering a popcorn if you decide to visit because the best thing they have going for them is the ticket price.

Such potential. The food was nothing spectacular. The mixed appetizer platter was not worth the money… WORST part, we had to ask for napkins. We were brought BATHROOM paper towels!!! How low class is that for such an expensive place???

This place is raggedy. The chairs are falling apart and the service is awful. There is no Dolby sound. I don’t want to go back.

Great service here! From purchasing our seats to being seated and served food, the service was excellent. I’ve driven past this place a ton of times but never gave it a try until I decided to buy the groupon deal($ 12 for two tickets and a large bag of popcorn). I arrived at the ticket counter showed the lady my groupon and got my tickets. The lovely worker(I suspect owner or manager?) was working the entrance and kindly directed us towards the theater. The size of the theater compared to other dine-in theaters(studio movie grill and alamo draft house) is a bit larger, there’s a ton of room between aisles, and lighting underneath the tables that’s just the right amount of brightness(not too bright that it’s distracting, but bright enough to snap a picture of your food to post on Unilocal). I ordered the steak quesadillas and they were very good! It was filled with steak and the cheese was melt in your mouth. The food was definitely restaurant quality, and came out super fast. Probably took less than 10 minutes after we placed the order! Over all great service, tickets are also considerably cheap compared to a $ 10.50 ticket at Cinemark. A movie ticket here will cost around $ 7.50! Thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will be back! :)
