I will echo Jordan’s sentiments above. This place is most definitely for people in the know. There is no signage on Josey that will give you one clue that this gem is hiding away in the back of the Flamingo Wine and Beer store. For starters, the wife and I had an order of tequeños(think Venezuelan mozzarella sticks). They were crispy and golden brown perfection on the outside and most cheesy on the inside. When paired with any of the house salsas, they were a great and delicious way to start our meal. We then moved on to the beef empanada, a chicken arepa, and a cheese arepa. Of the three, the beef and chicken were the standouts. Again, pairing them with all of the house salsas made everything just that much better. I would highly recommend mixing a little of the garlic sauce with the spicy green sauce. The folks that run this kitchen are super friendly and will gladly help walk you through any questions you may have. I hesitate to reveal this secret to the world, but get here and get some good grub in your mouth!

The insider’s place for Venezuelan grub in Dallas — and only local Venezuelans know about this place! Hidden inside the Flamingo Beer & Wine, it is out of sight for many. But if you come in and try the food — you’d find the most authentic, affordable and tasty Venezuelan food in the Dallas side of the metroplex. $ 2.50 for a cachito, and $ 3.50 for an arepa — the prices are more than reasonable especially since the variety in offering is great. Now, I haven’t had the cachapas here since they were not yet made. I had the tequeños and the empanadas and I can tell you that they were better than the ones from the Venezuelan place near downtown Dallas. I’ll have to come back to try more of their offerings. But so far, the place is promising. And it is pleasing to see Dallas growing in their South American offerings, with Northern Irving /Carrollton seeming to be ground zero. But so you know, because it’s located inside the Flamingo Beer & Wine, the opening hours are the same as Flamingo’s. Plan accordingly and enjoy!
