Updating my review from years ago, because things change. A few months ago, I decided to get my hair trimmed. I went in here because I had always loved their services, asked for a quick trim and some bangs. The lady that cut my hair was a sweet lady, she wasn’t mean or anything. She was just unprofessional. I had my hair washed and combed, she came over to ask me what I wanted and while I was telling her she walked away and started helping another lady. When she finished helping her she came back and asked me again what I wanted done on my hair. So trimming she did, she cut my bangs and even added some layers. The trim was fine, you can’t screw up cutting a few cm off someone’s hair. The bangs and layers were atrocious — bangs are uneven and the layers are choppy as hell. You can see where each damn layer is. There is no smooth transition. Anyways, lesson learned — I’m not coming back here ever again. $ 25-$ 30 sure is cheap for a wash and cut, but you get what you pay for.

Finally got the hairstyle done! I was always thinking to perm my hair since short hair does not have too many options. Ms. Kim gave me a stylish look, just like the pic I show her. Delicate work! Love it!

I LOVEMYHAIR. I always wanted try blonde hair at least once in my life! I tried couple times on my own to bleach it and get them blondy but never worked. It get’s very orange unless I use sometime of toner or something they said. Even I use the toner, I know it isn’t easy to get hair colors even bc of the fact root gets dyed much fast or the hair that I dyed before takes longer to color it. I would say it is pain in the butt to make it all nice and pretty fancy blonde instead it comes out like those cheap blonde wig u can buy for $ 10! After couple of attempts… it always only damaged my hair and I was too embarrassed of the color. But here I am with this beautiful natural blonde color hair! I usually get my hair done from the hair stylist name Kum and I was NEVEREVER disappointed! She makes my hair look sooooooo natural all the time! I got my hair cuts, perms several times and always makes me happy. I never had a perm that I liked it so much that I went back couple more times to get it done again. Jennifer and Yeji helped doing colors this time and they were super nice too. They even colored my black eye brows to make it look better with my blonde hair lol. Ahhhh I wish I can have this hair forever! I’m gonna see if I can do again when my black roots come out! Btw, Kum was telling me to let me know that however, since it is a bleach that they have to use to get the color out, it wil damage my hair a lot. but I don’t know, maybe it’s cuz they blowed my hair and stuff? I don’t feel like my hair is damaged at all… so we will see!

This is beautiful hair salon, service is good and most importantly they can cut the hair style that I like. I live in Allen, Texas, and hope they can open a store at near Allen, so I don’t have to drive to Carrollton. Still I am willing to drive to get there because of their good skills. Kum Hersh is the best hair stylist I have ever seen.

My hair looked nothing like the picture I selected from ‘their’ catalog. I am considering spending AGAIN at another place to fix the mess!

I really like this place, I’ve been going for a while and would recommend Alex for your stylist. Not only is he himself very stylish but if you bring him a picture he does a great job cutting your hair in that style. He is somewhat of a perfectionist too, so expect it to take a while. The one thing that is difficult for me however is getting across to him my vision because I don’t speak Korean and he has pretty limited English :(that’s the only reason I can’t give five stars.

My mom recommended me to this place, but I was unsure so I went threw a few Unilocal reviews and took my chances with Alex. Thanks to Bianca P.(Below). He’s amazing at cutting and styling hair! He is also very stylish! I highly recommend him and will definitely be back! He was very precise with my layers and more importantly, my fringe! He took his time and I didn’t feel like he cut my hair in a rush. I came on Sunday around 5pm and it wasn’t busy, but I also called ahead to make sure I’d have a spot. I’m a very happy customer :)

Went here for hair coloring and requested an ombré style. The stylist didn’t speak much English and unfortunately I can’t speak Korean so I showed her a pic of what I was wanting. She didn’t confirm that she knew how to do it or not when I asked. She showed the pic to another stylist and got to work. I gave her the benefit of the doubt that she knew how. In the end, my hair didn’t look like the picture. It just looks like I got a bunch of highlights all over with heavier streaks at the bottom. I was charged $ 160 for the color and half of an inch snip on the ends of my hair. Haircuts are normally $ 25-$ 30 here. I wouldn’t recommend coloring ombré at this salon unless you can really communicate with the stylist but I would still come here for haircuts if it’s convenient.

just went there for a hair cut today. i liked it so far. Song cut my hair, and she did a pretty good job. their price is very reasonable also. i think i will cont to go back and get my haircut from them from now on. while i was in the salon, there was a guy who was getting a haircut from a male stylist. the male stylist did an amazing job, i will bring my husband to there next time and let him try it out also.

I feel like this place is a great place for hair cuts… I recently went in for a magic perm and came out feeling great because it looked good at the salon until 2 days later. My hair still has curls in it and I really feel like ive been ripped off. I paid a lot for this perm only to have bad results. My friend also went in to get her hair colored red but turned out to be brown instead. They insisted that it’ll change to red after a few days, but it still is brown.

This place is legit! Clean, spacious, friendly, and efficient. Show them a picture or two, use a few key words, and the hairstylist will give you exactly what you want. My fussy hair still holds its shape after a shower(sans styling) — now THAT’s a sign of a good cut. To avoid driving/walking aimlessly in the H-Mart plaza, this place is between H-Mart and Yogurtland. Upon a friend’s recommendation, I called and was able to get a next day appointment with Susan. The salon has dedicated staff that washes & conditions your hair with speed, care, and thoroughness — I was impressed from the start. Susan then worked meticulously with my thick, shoulder-length hair. 30 minutes later, I was smiling at my mirror image. She didn’t stop there: after styling, she made further adjustments to make sure of symmetry, and textured the inner layers to give the hair more movement. All this for only $ 25?! I tipped $ 10, and still felt like I scored an amazing deal.

I love this place to go get my hair cut and digital perm. Hair cuts are about $ 35 and they wash, cut and style for you. I had my digital perm for about three months now and it is still curly. Ask for Susan she is the best there.

I have had my hair cut here once before and it was ok. I had a very long hair and needed to trim so there was no dramatic change anyways. This time I wanted to make a big change. My hair was very very long but decided to get a bob… I don’t usually get haircut in US but this time I did research and decided to go with Lee Ka Ja. My stylist’s name was Kim, which I think is a owner of the salon. I showed him a pix of how I wanna look and he looked at the pix only for a few sec and said ok. That was it. He didn’t try to counsel or explain anything to me. But just because he looked older than anybody else in the salon, I trusted that he’s a very skilled person. And I was wrong. After he cut my hair very short… shorter than what I expected, he said«you need to get perm to look like the picture. You wanna get it today?» I was like??? I already told them I only wanted a haircut, nothing else over the phone when making an appointment. Not only he didn’t check that, he should’ve told me that I need perm if i wanna look like the pix!!! Well, it was too late anyways. So I just kept my mouth shut and waited for the whole process to be finished.(Of course, I didn’t get perm! I was hoping he can try to make me look somewhat close to it) What I wanted was cute fluffy bob hair not a mushroom head! After everything is done, I look totally different from the picture! I was very excited to see how different I would look with short hair and trusted lee ka ja’s good reputation. I already miss my long hair. I would not go back there again anymore ever!!! Maybe our communication didn’t go very well because of language barrier. However, 1. he should’ve told me I need perm before he cut it short 2. I don’t look any close to the picture I gave him 3. He should’ve noticed how unhappy I was from my facial expression already! I would give one star because he was nice, i guess. Shampoo was ok, not as good as I have had back in my country.

So I’m normally very picky about my hair cuts but I was referred by a friend to a newer stylist named Alex and decided to check him out. I called to make a reservation because they are usually busy Saturdays. He was available so I made an appointment at 5:30. I got there a little earlier but it was pretty slow when I walked in so I was taken over to shampoo. Got my hair washed and then we started talking about what kind of style I wanted. After googling pictures and talking about how I wanted my hair cut for about 20 minutes he started to cut. First he cut off to the right length, then started putting in some layers and touched up my bangs. Then he blow dried my hair and then finished up my layers and straightened my hair. The entire process took about 2 hours. A bit long for a hair cut but he concentrated on every detail and cut it step by step explaining to me what he was doing. This was one of the best hair cuts I’ve ever had and I would recommend Alex to everyone!

I moved to Ireland a year ago and I usually come back to Carrollton/Dallas twice a year to visit my family, but more importantly get my haircut here! Susan is my girl and she KNOWS how to cut my hair — it’s always quick and economical(25 before tip) and never in my life have I ever trusted a hairstylist to cut my hair more than one time(I usually hop around from place to place because I’ve NEVER been satisfied. okay once at Toni and Guy in Austin at Barton Creek), but I can not stress enough how much I adore Susan. Maybe it’s because I have Asian hair, so she knows what to do, but I will continue coming here — I can’t even cut my hair in Ireland because I had pretty shite experiences from 15 to 80 euro! In conclusion, sure they might not speak great English(just bring in a picture of what you want!), and hey this place might not be your cup of tea, but for me it’s the bees knees! I love it; I would never cut my hair at any other place again. It feels good to be a loyal customer :)

I’ve been coming three to four times per year for the last two years now. My friend liked the stylist Kim Hyun and introduced me to this place. Because she said such great things about him, I decided to experiment and get a real cut instead of a regular trim. My hair had been kept long since middle school, so I guess it was time for a change. He does not speak English or Mandarin, and I do not speak Korean. He asked length, I said short. He asked bangs, I said yes. It looked super cute. He did a really great job. I figure he has done this long enough to know face shapes and hair styles and what looks good and what does not look good, so I generally give basic guidelines about length and bangs and let him do the rest. I love it every time. :)

Walked into Lee Ka Ja Hair after reading the reviews on Unilocal.I gave it a chance with my fingers crossed. When I walked into the salon, no one spoke much english, but I found pictures, and pointed. I am usually really picky w/my hair, but thought that since they are Asian, then they would know what to do with Asian hair. To my surprise, Alex was very pleasant, gave a good haircut, color & style all within 2 hours & a decent price. I will definitely go back.

I had a very mixed experience at Lee Ka Ja. Based on Unilocal reviews, I made an appointment(for my toddler son) but still waited over an hour. Every 10 minutes I would ask how long I had left to wait, and they kept on saying, «just 10 more minutes». After about and hour of waiting, I was just about to leave and they called me back to sit in a chair and I waited another 20 minutes in a chair with my son on my lap until they finally cut his hair. On the positive side, everyone that walked out of there with their hair done looked amazing. They cut my son’s hair in less than 10 minutes and it looks great. One of the best haircuts he has ever had. I think they are talented stylists but need to hire someone with some administrative skills to manage the wait list and appointment book.
