Great 18-hole disc golf course! There’s a wide variety of hole lengths and challenges. The course includes a few shots over a shallow ditch, multiple shots through or hooking around trees, and a handful of holes that are wide open. Only downside is that it can get a bit crowded if the weather is great, but not much you can do about that. There are also a couple of holes where you either can’t see if there’s a group ahead or you may bean someone if your throw isn’t straight…

This disc golf course has been completely rebuilt in the past 2 years. They’ve added sidewalks, bridges, and better drainage systems. Jimmy Porter is one of the best disc golf courses in DFW. Here are some tips for the park: *This course sneaks up on you. If you are driving South on Josey its immediately after the railroad tracks. *Park toward the left side of the lot to prevent your car from getting disc-ed at hole 18. *This course is pretty beer friendly. Its not unusual for people to have coolers in their car. Bring a coozy. No glass. *JP is pretty dog friendly. Only one part by the street where I have to watch Muffin closely. *Lots of shade and creek hazards. *People play night golf here and its a really good course for it. Just make sure you know where the baskets are. It gets pitch black out here. *JP is very close to the Greenbelt course. However, this course is a lot better than Greenbelt. *After you play there is a place called Fruitilicious if you keep heading South on Josey. Grab an after DG smoothie with bubbles. I highly recommend this course for all levels of play.

It sounds like Nico is a much bigger expert on disc golf and various disc golf courses than I am so definitely read his review. I think it is a good course to play, nothing fancy but nice to get outside. Maybe wait for the Fall so you don’t melt but it is fun.

One of my favorite things about disc golf is the directions to get to the place. .. you can’t just give someone an address and have them google it. .. it’s always«Head up Briar Oak, then as soon as you pass the the school on your left, count to 25, then look right. You head down that alley and park next to the police impound lot» But, I digress… I just played this course this past Sunday. Good course. .. it’s in the C category. It’s wild, but it’s a good course. It’s a little too rough for my tastes, but what can you do? The course plays oddly. .. it’s an easy course that makes you pay dearly for mistakes. By this I mean, the holes are all very straight forward, but if you screw up a shot, you’re going to go hunting. There’s a creek that runs throughout the course that makes most of holes hazardous. It also seems like one of those places that gets easier if you know where you are and what’s coming next. Hole 13 is just nuts. .. You’d better take a nice long walk around before you launch your disc off this tee. .. make sure you know where you’re throwing, because you truthfully can’t see a damn thing off the tee. I like this course, I’ve just played much better in this area. They need to mow. .. it might play very differently if it was freshly mowed. ..
