Came here for Valentine’s Day. They don’t take reservations so when we walked up and asked the hostess the wait time. She was very rude when she told us an hour, and we said politely, «okay thank you» and she said«try coming back a different night». So we are not allowed to sit in the lounge and wait the hour? Really? You’re turning down paying customers? We decide to go in the lounge and try a drink, they advertise this amazing new martini menu. They have a few options; but the bartender is an older gentleman who is also very rude and when I ask to look at the menu for a minute he then ignores us the rest of the time. I’m still waiting to even order my drink. Having one martini and then heading somewhere else to try and save the rest of our night. Horrible place.

Just to be clear, this is a hotel bar/restaurant. There are several big screen TV’s on the walls with neon beer signs in between and Christmas lights around the top of the bar. And not that there is anything wrong with that, but if you’re looking for a place to take mom on Mother’s day, as I was, just know that this is a dark space with no windows. That said, the food was pretty good.

It’s a small town but it’s a really nice restaurant. The foods pretty good. It reminds you of a mix of bar food and burgers. I tried the hot wing challenge. The sauce is mad with a ghost pepper. Let’s just say it didn’t end well. Your times and you have to sign a waiver. All the burgers are pretty good on the menu. The 3 star is for the limited seating, the very bad parking, and the long wait times. The parking is near impossible. The wait is always over 1hr. I almost always have to go to some other restaurant when I’m in town due to the long waits and the awkward open hours.

Pleasantly surprised. We were in for a two day basketball tournament and stayed at the Carroll Inn. We had a large party of 10 and decided to not leave our hotel so we had dinner at Charlie’s. Excellent food, drinks, and service. Everyone in our party loved it. Including our kids that got to color their own cookie. Highly recommended.

The place was packed due to a wedding buyout next door/space… We’ve waited about an hour before we got sat at our table, then it just got worse and worse! It took us about 10 minutes before anybody greeted us and then it took us about another 20 minutes before we got our food order taken by a waitress who was clearly stressed out and overwhelmed due to the restaurant being understaffed! Anyway, it was about another hour to get our food/entrees(2.5 hours total of waiting) and at that point we were just too tired to enjoy anything… No manager ever stopped by and we didn’t care either. We will not be back.

I was in town on business, and thought that a steak dinner would hit the spot for a midwest night on the town. Charlie’s looks great – a cheerful, busy place. The menu looks promising, too. My first mistake was ordering a margarita – I should have stuck with beer. It was from a mix and tasted like it had been sitting around for a while. The caesar salad was more a generic green salad, but it tasted fine. And my filet mignon was fine – not stellar, but fine. I was most disappointed with the hashbrowns. As a native midwesterner, I know about a hashbrown casserole made with onions and cheese and sour cream that’s fabulous. And I thought that«hashbrowns with cheese and onions» was going to lead to some version of that. Alas, is just hashbrowns with a slice of american cheese on top. I was sad. Overall, I think my expectations were too high – it was just what three stars indicates: A-OK.
