My only real gripe with the Tiger Room is that it seems like a Southern Rail afterthought, or at least that’s the way it came off the day that I visited. It’s a quaint little space at the front end of the Rail facing towards the Main Street side, and offers a nice reprieve from the more crowded coffee joints in the area. However, the baristas who were working the counter the day I visited were super inattentive and seemingly more concerned with literally running to and from Southern Rail. Don’t get me wrong – the baristas were more than friendly, just very rushed and thus not performing to the highest of standards. That said, it’s a funky little spot with solid cold brew coffee and a decent beer list in a good location. Thus, I am more than willing to give it a second try! My only worry is that peeps may ultimately catch on and fill this teeny spot to its brim…

I went to Tiger Room this morning to get a latte and the place was empty except for the barista. He said he couldn’t make me any espresso drinks because they were out of espresso beans. Out of beans on a Sunday at 10:30 am? He said he could make me a latte with French press coffee and that it would taste the same. No, it would not. If you have no espresso during prime coffee time you’ve lost legitimacy for me as a coffee shop.

Great coffee and the baristas here are awesome. They know their coffee and they’re just fun cool people that you could sit around and talk to all day. Fun music selection as well. Highly recommend checking them out. I’m surprised they don’t have more reviews! It’s in such a great location too.

Quaint little one room coffee bar that also has a full bar. Not too shabby. The décor is eclectic but cohesive at the same time. They have a big comfy couch, a bar area and a large butcher block table in the middle. Of course there is also the outside seating area though I invariably have to put up with the smoking so it usually ruins it for me. The bartender was nice and welcoming and though I can’t comment on the coffee because I was hot and wanted a beer(Okay, I just wanted a beer) they had a huge menu of coffee drinks both hot and iced. There were three other people when we went in there that were working on laptops so I imagine it can be done but I can see with the spill over from the Station it could get a little loud. The bathroom is updated and clean-not as sketchy as what you find next door in the bar. Next time I’ll try a coffee.

The Tiger Room, attached to The Station and Southern Rail, is the newest hip place to get caffeine and sit down to do a little work. It’s small, but the room is used well, with one big table, a bar area, and some nice area at the windows to set up. They also have a big TV in there in case you want to work and watch the game(whatever game that may be, on this day it was a Penguins game). I ended up getting a caramel latte. It was a very good caramel latte. You can also buy beer and other drinks as well, along with the normal bar foods from The Station(including Tots!) Overall, The Tiger Room is a nice addition to the Carrboro coffee scene.

Awesome place I just discovered! The atmosphere is relaxed, coffee is good stuff and I recommend the tomato bisque and grilled cheese if your looking for lunch. Nice alternative if Open Eye is too busy or crowded for you. Emily was working the bar when I was there and she def makes me come back with her warm personality.
