What a great Food Lion this is! Vastly different from my experience with Food Lion in Chapel Hill or in Cary, this Food Lion out on 54 in Carrboro is bright and clean and the Meat Dept is HEADSABOVE the other stores, heck it is heads above Harris Teeter and that is saying something in and of itself. The Bakery Dept is also up to speed with fresh rolls and bread and desserts. I found a few different things than I usually find with their sugar free selection. Great job, guys and gals! Kudos to the managers at this store for being on top of what needs to be done!

I was really disappointed with this Food Lion. I’ve been there multiple times and the produce looks old. There were flies around it. And most of the veggies and fruits were bruised. I also found that their selection was limited and that the stock was low sometimes.

Cheap eats. It’s a low cost community grocery store. If you want gourmet or local produce go to Weaver Street up the road. This is a normal, real world grocery store. It’s stand out quality is that it has a great selection of Latino foods. Need discos to make empanadas? They have them. Need crema for some home made queso dip? They have that too. Huge selection of Goya products.

With all the options in the area for groceries, there is no telling what might bring you here… other than time to kill waiting for your DMV number to get chosen. Large, standard Food Lion with all the great prices and standard groceries you might expect from a large chain. I sound like I’m an ad for these guys. It’s fiiiiine.

A much different experience than shopping at Harry Ts or Weaver Street Market. For one thing, this place was deserted. Which was probably fine as my preteen daughter was with me and who wants to be seen at the grocery store with your mom even if she is rather cool. :) They did not have a lot of health food-I know you are laughing at me now. But I guess I figured well this is Carrboro we’re talking about I bet they have my Sweet potato chips, but no dice. But their produce was fresh and the prices were good. They even had fresh aloe leaves you could buy, plantains and the fruit smelled delicious. I doubt if you are total organic you couldn’t shop here regularly though I know, you laugh again when I say there wasn’t any organic meat, but even my little Bi-Lo store back in South Cackalacky had organic chicken so I was a little surprised. There wasn’t a lot in the vitamin section or toiletries in general. The store is kind of utilitarian but the checker and bagger were nice. I don’t think I can do all of my shopping here but for standard items I think I will go back because it is a lot less than other places and close to home.

Food Lion is cheap. I spent $ 11 on what amounted to lunch for the next week, salad(despite the fact you don’t win friends with it), some veggies to go with dinner, and even a half gallon of ice cream. Awesomeness :) Also, the store is easy to to traverse, allowing for quick location of everything. Considering how much cheaper it is than Harris Teeter, I’ll use Food Lion in the future for my food needs.

I’m here for a few days for a wedding. Went into Food Lion looking for cups and ice. They have 20 pound bags of ice. I think most other places just have 10 pound bags. And cups, red cups for 99 cents! But they also have other plastic cups that you can buy if you don’t want to feel like you’re at a keg party. Everyone is really nice and they stay open late.
