I never thought I would give Island a poor review. I used to love them, but we will not be renewing our Island memberships this year. That«manager» they have(you know her, the one who scowls at the end of the bar, taking up valuable real estate when it’s busy and overtly hating everyone in sight) has finally succeeded in driving us away. It first started as, «we’ll walk by and if she’s working then we won’t go in», then it evolved to «if she’s plopped her bad attitude at the end of the bar in one of her unfashionable hats, we’ll sit outside». Now it is: «F*** it, there are friendlier(or, at the very least, less hostile) places to go.» We’ve always supported Paul, Laurie and Mark, but their judgement in putting someone who is clearly not a people person in a position of trust leaves us dumbfounded and repulsed. I’ve heard many less refined people refer to her, and rightfully so, as a F***ing CU**, which I’m afraid I simply cannot defend.

The beer there is prime, the people are the kindest, and the view couldn’t be better. First time at this brewery was a great one, I’ll be back for sure, took home their pale ale and it’s the bees knees! Only one little thing tho, a little on the strenuous side of trying to find the entrance haha. Others than that. Loved the place!

Great beers all around and a killer local spot to escape the crowds. …surfing sucks don’t try it cough cough… Recent expansion is great, as are beers They rep the avocado beer a lot which correlates with local geographics being abundant to avo’s…but personal favorite is the Paradise Pale Ale, photo attached accompanied by partial patio view

Starry nite is the best ever nitro brew. Quant outside atmosphere with occasional trains cruising by. Quick walk over from campground has occasional Santa Barbara food trucks. What more does one need?

The brews here are phenomenal! Okay, so no real foid, but you can order in from local places. Cool! The beers and ales really match our tastes, and the 6 or so we tasted were very good! We asked for tastes of several before settling on 2 IPAs: Hopliner and Variance IPA. We also tried the King Tide– WOW! Reminiscent of our favorite local brew in the Bay Area, Piney the Elder. Smooth, delicious, with a punch! I recommend you hunt down the Island Brewing Co. and enjoy the ambiance, but come with a full belly, as there are only chips a stuff available to munch on. Enjoy!

Fantastic brew, great service, entertaining people. Scooted over here from our campsite to get a much-needed break from the blistering heat and noisy kids. From the initial greeting by the fantastic barkeep to the very last fare thee well, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We tried everything from the Hopliner(magnificent), Jubilee(flavorful Scotch ale), and everything else in between. We made the mistake of starting it off with Imperial pints when we should’ve opened with the sampler. Not a big deal at all. The beyond brilliant barkeep customized a 7 sampler tasting, based on her recommendations and our tastes. She was totally right about the King Tide double IPA as being superb. Get it! If you get hungry, and you probably will, ask to see the to-go folder and find yourself a proper meal to eat at the brewery. Love this place and can’t wait to come back. In the meantime, I’ll wear my IBC shirt with pride. Don’t forget to grab a few growlers on the way out.

IBC is a wonderful brewery doing great things. Only get to visit once a year on our yearly trip to Carp. Great people, atmosphere and location. If the flags are flying, the beer is flowing.

Good atmosphere and killer location. Try the avacado ale, it’s a great summer beer! Cool people and nice staff! Usually a food truck on Saturday.

This place was cool, a few things though… Location sucks, if I wasn’t with locals I would have never found this place. Its small and hard to find seating, also it faces the sun so if your sitting outside it’s scorching hot and there was no AC inside… at least it didn’t feel like it, it felt muggy. I wish there were actual servers. We just had to keep getting up and going to the bar. The good: Beers were great. And prices were good.

This place fires on all cylinders! AVA– effervescent and delightful. PCH– banana & cloves. Glen Jubilee– eminently quaffable. King Tide– hell yeah from the hophead. Well done, sir, well done. Starry Night, smooth roastiness. 100% goodness here, folks. That’s coming from a craft brew crawler since 1984.

Stopped by here with the pups awhile back. When I tried entering the building, we were told the dogs were only allowed outside. That’s fine, I understand. But why were the small dogs allowed inside, especially when they were urinating on the floor? That aside, we stood around outside enjoying our flights. It was a Friday night, and packed. Seating’s hard to come by. The beers were decent, the view’s pretty awesome.

I always seem to write my Carpenteria reviews in pairs. Yesterday before having dinner at the Siam Elephant we stopped into Island Brewery for a cold one. Island is a little hidden and I like that. I think that at least 80% of the people who go there are locals and I like that too. They make wonderful beers and the prices are so fair. I do want to try the limited edition bottle that costs about the same as a fine wine because I suspect it would be my favorite. A lot of their beers are hoppy and because it is Carp a lot of their beer seem to favor avocado. No they aren’t green and they don’t actually use the oily meat of an avocado to make them, they use the honey that bees make from the avocado blooms. The reason I give them four instead of five stars is because most of their beers are hoppy and I never really jumped on the IPA bandwagon. There is always a beer or two for me but often they are the wheat beers or the pilsners, again not favorites. If I catch the place right they might have a good higher alcohol style Belgium.

We’re so happy that places like the Island Brewing Company exists! It’s such a fun and funky place, if you love beer, the beach, a quirky space, you have stop by this brewery. It’s such a unique place! It’s near the railway, off Linden Ave, take a Left. They don’t serve food, just pretzels(free with the beer), so either come here for a beer and hang around or bring some food, they’re cool with that. We brought some from The Spot that’s close by, almost across the street. They also had a food truck when we got there, selling various interesting hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches. We got there around 6 pm on a Saturday, end of May and the place was packed! No seat in sight! We did sat at somebody’s table, they were cool. Everyone here is cool and you can improvise in terms of seating, if you’re not picky. You can make friends since the locals are nice and welcoming(that’s something we liked a lot about Carpinteria). We sampled 5 of their beers for $ 8 which is fun, we got: the Starry Night Stout(dark, like a Guinness, the Big Island, Paradise Pale Ale and 2 others, mostly darker-amber, since that’s what we like). The beers were all very good and we enjoyed trying them out. You can get t-shirts, beer to go, glasses, etc. $ 6 for a pint. Great beers, decent prices, fun atmosphere. You can see the ocean, the trains passing right in front while everyone raises their glasses. It’s the type of place where everyone has a great time. They have an indoor area, very open to their outdoor one so that you can enjoy nice views no matter what. I loved that they don’t have TV-s here! This is the place where you can have fun, relax, meet people, socialize. We loved this place and cherish the experience of coming here. It’s a world in itself, hard to describe, check it out, have your own experience and enjoy it as much as we did!
