By far the worst IHOP I been to in my life. The service was very poor. The way food was handled and drinks were served was a disgrace to all IHOP around the world.

The website says open till midnight. We walked in at 9:45 and they turned us away cuz they were ‘closing’. How. Lame. We told them that there website said midnight and they flat out REFUSED to serve us. Rude.

I took my son and his girlfriend to breakfast and it was okay. Much better than my last experience at the Goleta IHOP. I stuck with what i usually get at IHOP which is the chicken florentine crepes but without the chicken. It has spinach, mushrooms, onions, cheese and is covered in a Hollandaise sauce. My son had a Tuscan chicken sandwich with onion rings. His girlfriend had a breakfast combo with eggs, hash browns, bacon, and strawberry crepes. It was all just as you expect from an IHOP, which to me is a place you come to for convenience but not one you really seek out. For a quick breakfast or lunch it is okay.

There is a sewer line outside of IHOP and it has smelled like poop for the last 15 years or so. You would have to be starving to death to eat here after smelling that as you walk in. All in all yeah one star.

(ATTN: this is a live Unilocal) Ugh, gimme some coffee already! The guy FINALLY gets here to take our order and he’s clearly annoyed that we have the audacity to patronize his place of work. First drink out, WRONG! Iced tea instead of iced coffee, then when they tried to fix it they brought out chocolate milk — WTF? And then they give us tiny baby cups for water. I’m starting to wish there was a closer Denny’s… Coffee’s here, it’s garbage, but at least they leave the pot at your table. Food’s here — that was fast. The bacon is way better than Denny’s. It’s real bacon. In fact, all the food was good, exactly what I was dreaming of eating when I sat down. Unfortunately, whoever is managing this place has given his/her server a section that is too big for them to handle. I’m counting… 9 tables. Three 5-tops, one 10-top, and everything else 4-tops. No wonder our coffees and waters are EMPTY! And no wonder our sever seemed annoyed that he was sat another table. No one is helping this poor dude out. I’ll give our server 5 stars, the food 3, and the manager negative 2. Basically all the issues we encountered were due to management.

Dissapointed in the staff. I phoned in my order and was told fidteen minutes. I gave them about 20 minutes and expected to wait there for a bit since I realize they are a food chain. After waiting for 45 minutes the server comes back and tell me that one of the items I had order was no longer there. I asked for a refund on the item and he refused to return it. He then came back after a few minutes and said he just had to warm it up. Really? Horrible customer service will definitely not go back ever again.

This is my go to breakfast spot whenever I’m in town. An IHOP is an IHOP, so if you’ve been to one you know what kind of food you’re getting. GOOD ‘OL ‘MERICAN Breakfast. But what I love about this IHOP is the service. It was great and the managers were a pleasure to work with.

If there was a negative 5 star review I would have given it to them. Worst place to eat. Staff was unhelpful, dirty cups, dirty spoons, and to top it all they would not get my order right. Asked waitress how we wanted our pancakes and she said«it’s not the way we make it here and it will be an extra charge» WHAT? No reason why, just plain no. Later manager came into the picture… wish he would have brushed his teeth before come in… he spit on my tea and later asked«did something fly out?» Ahg!!! Asked the waitress to change my tea. When I went there to pay he later said he was sorry for coming In strong… he said he just came from vacation at 9 days in vegas and already problems at the job… Well how is THAT our fault? There will be no next time at this IHOP in carpinteria.

I have eaten here many times, both breakfast and lunch. I always found enjoyable meals. Now something has happened. The service was poor, and the French server seemed most unhappy and acted as if his job was a pain. I had to call upon him to be served. The food itself was dry and uninteresting, and so was the filling. I am no longer recommending this restaurant.

Saw a Baldwin brother there. That was pretty cool. The food was delicious and the service top notch. Bravo.

I am surprised to see the negative reviews. I have stopped at this IHOP many times while driving back from Santa Barbara. The food & service have always been good. I just had pumpkin pancakes their that were awesome.

Wife and I were looking for a breakfast place along the Santa Barbara coast. We found IHOP in Carpinteria. Weekday special, cheap($ 4.99), no-nonsense, no substitutions. Just off the freeway. Hugo’s is across the street if you change your mind.

I was an out of town tourist, looking for a good place to have my breakfast on Tuesday morning with my family. We decided to go to this IHOP, we sat down, ordered, our waitor did not know how to speak English in a way we could understand him which made things a bit difficult. But we bared with it. Our food came, after taking a couple bites out my omlette i discovered a hair twirled around in my chicken that i had in the omlette. Immediately i was disgusted. I went to the bathroom to gag, however the toilets weren’t flushing. The waitor offered me something else, i passed, i was absolutley grossed out. And it didn’t help to see a man with a huge mustache working in the kitchen.

It’s a Ihop, what do you expect? Obviously you don’t eat here for the food, service, or because you’re looking for a local experience. It’s just food. I’m sure everyone has been to an Ihop before and the food is all the same and every location. My trip to Ihop is only due to the restaurant is in a convenient location and we were hungry. The servers served the purpose of taking the order and delivering the food to our table. The silverware was dirty and so we had to swap out a couple time. If you’re actually looking for a really nice breakfast, then just do a quick Unilocal search and you can do much better. But if you’re looking to grab a decent meal, then I guess Ihop is okay. Also note that there are a couple fast food places in the immediate area as well.

My husband and I took our 2 year old here for breakfast last weekend to use a coupon they had in the local paper for buy one-get one free. Food was on the slow side, but they were very busy. Waitress was very attentive and coffee was hot and readily available. Overall good.

Much better breakfast can be had in Carpinteria at The Worker Bee, Cajun Kitchen or Esaus on Linden or Hugos right across the street. Don’t eat here. I’ve been here 3 times. The first time for breakfast and my fork had egg on it, so I sent it back and got clean cutlery. The food was acceptable, but the pancakes weren’t as fluffy as I would expect for a place that specializes in pancakes. Service was poor. I had to flag down a waiter to get my cutlery replaced, and then again to get cream for my coffee. Both times I got the vibe that I was annoying the waiter. The second visit was for dinner. The food was ok, but again the service was unpleasant. The third and final visit was for breakfast. I tried a different pancake, and it was ok, but nothing special. Again, my fork had egg on it. I asked for a clean one and they got me another fork… with egg on it. Seriously people? Your restaurant specializes in breakfast, you should know how to clean egg off the cutlery! Again the service was unfriendly and the waiter clearly resented me asking for a clean fork a second time. I finished my breakfast, left a 1 cent tip and vowed never to go there again. Please eat somewhere else so this place goes out of business and can be replaced with a restaurant that at least knows how to do the dishes and realizes that giving a patron dirty cutlery twice in a row is simply unacceptable.

Went here about a month or two ago. This IHOP gives much bigger portions than the average IHOP for the same price! Syrups were full, but no jams on the table… Service was somewhat slow however, although it was a Sunday morning, but nevertheless, be prepared to wait. Still, it is a small location, and so it is difficult to get a big enough table if you are in a group. By far the most delicious pancake: Harvest Grain n’ Nut with praline syrup!

Before I started writing Unilocal reviews, a long, long time ago, I use to work with this doctor who had Celiac disease. Ihop would honor her many food allergy requests. Fast forward to 2010, and my hiking friend needed a similar type restaurant. So before starting out on our Toro Canyon trek he suggested we fill up here. Near to the freeway on/off ramp, it was most convenient. At first they led us to the back, where it was dark and crowded. I protested, saying I preferred a sunny window seat up front. They said«ok, just wait a little.» We waited, didn’t get our window seat, although it was at least up front, a brighter table. He ordered chicken with broccoli and roasted potatoes. One piece of the chicken was fine, the other piece he bit on, well I thought for a minute he was going to gag. Apparently the fatty skin was not removed. He was not sure if it was a mistake and removed the dimpled skin, politely putting it inside his napkin. I waited in anticipation for my pumpkin pancakes. They arrived quickly and I found I liked them very much. They were light and fluffy, perfectly cooked. I asked if they had nuts(which would have made them extra special inside) alas, they did not. I asked and received an extra big dollop of whip cream. Had to eat them right away as they grew cold quite fast. I became a fan of pumpkin pancakes, which I would rate at 4 stars. Now if I can just find pumpkin nut pancakes. The downer was the service 1 star. We had to wave down the surly waiter numerous times. For example 3x for my water refill. Mr. Surly Sunday waiter seemed to walk around with a chip on his shoulder. Perhaps that’s why they tried to sit us in the back. Maybe they knew Mr. Surly Sunday waiter was not up to snuff. Plan A: try out a recipe for pumpkin pancakes. Plan B: urge a relative to make them Plan C: find an efficient Ihop or any other restaurant that offers pumpkin pancakes. I think it’s Plan C already.
