Finally it closed! It was pathetic. All over the place menu. Revolving door waitresses, completely lacked organization

I love to come and get a drink here with some friends(drinks are good and strong btw) but for some reason whenever I come, there is a lack of service, it seems like you have to get up and ask for things around here. It’s such a shame since they have okay food, but the time they take to bring you your food/drinks and even the menus is dramatically long.

Been here a few times now, drinks are ok food is less than mediocre. Tonight I had the«crusty flatbread pizza» –very greasy. Chorizo tasted like cinnamon. Ordered the cheesecake to go, no fresh strawberries on top as described. I think the cheesecake was frozen as there were icicles throughout the slice, did not taste fresh at all. Had a few bites before I decided it needed to go in the trash. Service was good until the outside filled up.

This place was really good I loved the tex-mex chicken tacos the best But all three(carne asada, el-pastor) were great. The margarita was yummy as well. Service was great and fast even though they were slammed ! I’m not sure what these other reviews are talking about. I had chips and water within 2 minutes of sitting down, 6 minutes for my tacos and a margarita. While she split a check 11 ways without a complaint for another table ! I guess some people get what they deserve :) Oh and I think I wouldn’t tell people where I work if I was a horses ass(see I work for the city review)

Had the Halibut Ceviche & a carne street taco. The ceviche was delicious & big enough to fill me up! They would have gotten a 5 but one night my margarita was not good & the next it was perfect. Positive: Pet friendly patio, flavorful food, plentiful outdoor seating, quiet Negatives: Inconsistency in drinks. Overall, I would go back for the ceviche but know the drinks may be inconsistent.

Carp local. Love it when places change hands, good opportunity to try something new. Heard some good things, heard some bad things, decided to try it out for ourselves. Interior remodel was nice and simple. Waitress was congenial. Looked over the menu for a few minutes and the waitress asked for a drink order. The beers weren’t listed on the menu. She offered to write them down for us and did so on a piece of receipt paper. The tables(or floor) were grossly uneven, causing the tables to rock, which drove my wife crazy. The front and back doors were both open(health department issue?) which made for lots of flies in the restaurant. A customer(quite possibly the owner) was standing at the bar drinking with some friends and had a dog IN the restaurant. Not cool. A barking dog sniffing you as you walk ij the back door is not appetizing. The food was good. The $ 2.25 Pepsi was never refilled. I had a Al Pastor flatbread pizza, son had street tacos, wife had a unique flatbread pizza. Good taste, but too expensive for what you get. Glad we visited but probably won’t be back.

No. Just no. First off, the place wasn’t even that crowded yet took 20 minutes to get acknowledged and our drinks ordered. JUST ordered. It took us about an hour and 10 to get food. I feel like we didn’t really have an assigned waitress. Instead, it was who was nearby that helped us. Oh and the table was dirty when we sat down. Had to ask someone to wipe it up. The food is okay. Not really memorable. For twenty bucks a person to eat here, I’ll pass. Although the two gentlemen who play live music here were great!

I had the Super Burrito With Pastor and it was ok. I don’t like when the guacamole and sour cream is only on the bottom of the burrito. Service could improve as well.

Nice place to sit outside, have a cocktail and listen to live music. Chips are good and have 3 different salsas. Specialty cocktails are around 10 bucks. Pretty fair for a good drink. I hear the happy hour has good deals, but I haven’t tried it yet. As a vegan, the only real food option I could find was a taco salad with beans, veggies and avocado. I was satisfied with it. Some veggie tacos might have been an option if I had thought to ask. As a newer establishment it seems they are still working out some kinks. Service can be a little slower on a busy night. Maybe they need just one more server. Otherwise, if you are taking it easy and enjoying sitting on the patio it’s a good time.

This place really has an identity crisis. Tex-Mex? It is NOT! They are just trying to be everything to everyone. When you do that, everything can’t be done very well. Do you want to be medicore and just survive? Or do you want be special? With a name like«Cielo» = Heaven, the bar has been set very high. The place has a a great patio in the front. I don’t get the patio in the back? Is it for bad customers to go on a time out? Sunday afternoon had a great musician playing. So it’s a mixed bag here. Beer came out warm(twice). The three salsas they bring out were very good. The green salsa has a nice kick at the end, like an after burner. Chips are standard fare. Tried the ceviche app(not impressed). Someone had a a salad with shrimp(tiny bay shrimp) not impressed. I had the«Monster» burrito($ 12.00) and it lacked flavor. Marinate that meat. Make it pop with citrus juice, garlic, some spices something, anything. All the ingredients were there, it just didn’t make you go «wow», I’m in heaven! It was big, but it was just bland. Clam chowder was decent and a good deal at $ 5 for a bowl. Tostada salad became a soggy unappetizing mess. There was a mix up with our order that took longer than ususal and management got ahead of it. They comp’d a crazy brownie dessert and their efforts were appreciated as they tried to make it right. Sometimes there are mix-ups and that is OK. The place is super clean, and the historic wall photographs inside are cool. The place is not cheap. All in all if you want me to come back. Get inspired with the menu, if you are calling yourself Tejano-Mex, you gotta kick it up some. No, scratch that kick it up a great deal more. Offer up some Tri tip Fajitas. Some Tri-tip burritos. Some Tri-tip nachos and chili. I don’t know if when this place was purchased from Cabo there was some agreement that Tri-tip burritos couldn’t be sold anymore. I know Cabo’s Tri-Tip burritos were delicious the first time I had one. If you just want to be mediocre– a place where unsuspecting tourists will come, there’s plenty of that in Carp. just keep doing what you are doing. If you want to stand out, then listen to what people are saying, find that passionate menu inspired by your heart chef, that only Cielo can serve up and no one else can do. Or you can continue to play it safe and I’ll say to you«Heaven Can Wait».

Service was pretty slow. Only a few tables occupied, but our waiter was laggy. Food: basic burger and fries. $ 10.00. Below average taste, soggy buns, fries were awful. Served with salsa and chips, chips were stale. I would not recommend this place, there are better options in town.

I give it a 2.5 stars. They did a great job converting the place and I really want to like this place but don’t think it cuts it for me. All Unilocal reviews are accurate… very slow service with no sense of urgency and confusing menu assortment(is it American, Mexican?). I had the bus boy clear our plates when we were not done. Half a burger and fries were still on our plate and he cleared it with his hands then when we told him we were still eating he picked up the sandwich and hesitated putting it back on our plates till we stopped him. Very awkward situation. They replaced our burger which was great but didn’t include the bacon it was supposed to come with or our fries.

We were visiting for a long weekend and were starving by time we got to town. We walked by Cielo where there was live music on the patio. We were seated outdoors and our waitress was so attentive and sweet. They immediately brought out chips and 3 types of salsa which were really tasty! I ordered the tostada without diary and my boyfriend ordered a burger and fries. The fries were really delicious and the overall atmosphere was great. Would definitely recommend to anyone heading to carpinteria!

Super good. Just went by and the food was super good. We had the tri-tip, ranch burger, El Paso burger, and the cranberry blue cheese sliders. They were all very good. For drinks we had bloody Mary’s and they were on point but my friends really loved the 65 and sunny, Oliver K described it as «orgasmic». We will be back.

Went today for the first time — it was a very busy Saturday lunch rush.(Good for them!) The re-done atmosphere is totally gorgeous, including the bathrooms, which were a bit nasty before when it was Cabo’s. We were given waters and chips/salsa almost immediately — loved that. Then after waiting over 10 minutes to place the order, I got up and asked the bartender if I could give him my order, since we had a commitment to get to after lunch. The waitress came right after, and we received solid service after that. I had the Skunky Blue burger — pretty tasty. Felt like the burger meat was just okay? But all the fun stuff on it — cranberry relish, grilled onions, blue cheese, 1000 island, made it yummy. Was able to do a ½ regular fries, ½ sweet potato — and they were very good. Hubby had tostada — he liked it just fine. We would go there again — would like to try the Dessert Won-tons sometime~

This one is a tough one and perhaps I am being just a bit generous with four stars. On the one hand it has some things that need fixing but on the other it is a world better than Cabo’s in the same location! Let’s start with the fact that they did a great job cleaning the place up! The space is pleasant and the bar is great. The bathrooms are spotless and the patio is very nice. Certainly a great start. I started with a Margarita, quite good and not a bad deal for $ 8. They don’t have a happy hour though and I think they definitely need one! When I created their Unilocal account I asked what the would consider their restaurant to be? They serve tacos so Mexican? the serve Pizza so Italian? We settled on Tex-Mex. Their words, not mine. I think that they are trying to be too much and cover too many bases. The food was good, not spectacular but quite good. I had the burger, my wife had the crispy chicken sandwich and our friend had the burrito. The burgers came with salads or fries and we chose salads. My wife’s came without dressing. I had asked for bleu cheese and it wasn’t really dressing as much as just bleu cheese chunks. I think better dressings would be in order. My burger had iceberg lettuce which isn’t my favorite. But it was well cooked. When we left our friend said that Carp has too many places to get a burrito, a burger or a pizza. Perhaps Cielo should consider reinventing their menu just a little. Back to my four star rating. The place is brand spanking new and I enjoyed the space, the friendly staff and even the food. I just think that they need to work a little better to create a niche for themselves.
