Upon arrival we saw a sign on the counter announcing the soup selections for the night. They included«chicken dumbling». That should have been our 1st clue. There were 4 other tables of diners while we were here on a Saturday night. After placing our orders the soup came quickly but no sign of our entrees. A couple who came in after us was served their entrees and we still were waiting. Shrimp, chicken and appetizer platter are not dishes which you would expect over a ½ hr. wait. When we asked the waiter he said they’d be there soon. There were no apologies for the wait when the shrimp etouffe and the chicken vesuvio were finally brought. It still took several additional minutes for the appetizer plate that our daughter had ordered to show up. The 1 star was for the etouffe. The shrimp were cooked well but the amount of celery in it was ridiculous. The chicken was so rubbery and tough that it took 10 – 15 chews before you could swallow. The portabella mushrooms were pure slime. The tomatoes on the bruschetta were pink. We all decided that we would probably never set foot here again so decided to order dessert to go to meet the price on a coupon we had. We ordered 2 pieces of pecan pie and 1 of lemon. When we went to eat them later, there was only 1 pecan slice. There are many other places to go that are much, much better. Don’t waste your time or money here.

First off, when you walk in the décor is simply dreadful and looks extremely outdated. It’s not very inviting. We were seated and the waitress zoomed past us and asked us what we wanted to drink without even introducing herself or even stopping at our table. We ordered the South of the Boarder Skillet and Oatmeal Plate that came with turkey bacon and one egg. The waitress said they didn’t have fresh fruit and only had a bananas to go on the oatmeal. The oatmeal was OK. It’s kind of hard to mess up oatmeal. The turkey bacon was overcooked. The South of the Boarder skillet was mediocre. It wasn’t as good as other places that made Mexican inspired skillets. Overall, we would not go there again simply because there’s better places out there with better service and a better ambiance.

It’s definitely better than most Greek diners, but it is still a Greek Diner. Normally I’d only do a Greek diner if I was hurting for other options as the food at most of these places is bland, never above a 1 or 2 star. This place gets a way better rating than most diners in this category because it actually does a few things really well. The steak skillet I’ve had twice — once was amazing and once was okay. Pancakes aren’t anything special but are done just fine. Coffee is decent. But the saving grace — they do a killer zucchini bread french toast. A buddy got the red velvet french toast and liked that as well. Service every time I’ve been there has been decent. Nobody is rushing, but everything is timely and I never felt forgotten. Everything was clean for my experiences there, and the prices are very fair. I’ve been back a few times and I’ll be back again.

I have been here 3 times under the new ownership. Carry-out only so far. The food has been good each time. The soups are better than good. The items in the display case are very fresh and good tasting! The price for their sandwiches includes two sides so their prices are good. Service was fast too. I will be back for more.

Having passed by Lumani’s Café on a nearly daily basis for the past four and a half years, I’ve never been tempted to stop here. And this has held true under both its former name Peppercorns, or in its current incarnation until now. One morning I decided it was finally time to give it a shot here and stop in and try it out. Upon checking in on Unilocal I noticed that there were no photos for the restaurant, and that it had an unusually low review score aggregate. Deciding not to take any chances I wanted to go fairly traditional with my breakfast choices. About five minutes after being seated I placed my order and waited for my food to arrive. Despite the restaurant not being particularly busy it took around 15 minutes. This is about a time and a half the time most places take to bring out a skillet. Right away, the service here was a little slow. The question now turns into, how was the food? I went for a Mexican style skillet with Chorizo sausage. I’ve had this style dish at many different breakfast establishments, and this is far and away the worst Mexican skillet I’ve encountered. Rather than having a large amount of ground sausage there was a tiny amount of sausage ground so much it was practically chorizo dust. The skillet itself was smaller than most places, and while there was more egg percentage wise than I’m used to seeing it didn’t salvage the dish. I went with pancakes instead of toast, these were competent but not enough to save the rest of the meal. Simply put this place had slow service, and skimped on meat on my skillet. This place is definitely deserving of a one star review. There are much better diners around, avoid it.

Former Peppercorn’s Restaurant — this place is not nearly as good and portions are much smaller than were Peppercorn’s. Won’t give them a second chance.

This place is just all-around BAD. The service(if you can call it that) is next to non-existant. When the food finally arrives, you’ll never see the waitress again… and I had a complaint. The food smelled so bad my stomach started turning. I had no choice but to eat certain parts only. I complained at the register, to no avail. The waitress has all of one or two tables, and all she does is sit on her rear and watch TV. Drink refills? FORGETIT. TIP? Yeam, I «forgot» to leave one. This place isn’t gonna cut it.

Lumanis is the new Peppercorn’s, or as we called it «Soup Nazi»(they had an unhealthy interest in the Seinfeld Soup Nazi character). Obviously under new management, the décor, most of the staff, and the menu have changed. The menu is much smaller, like, a few pages smaller. if I didn’t always default to corned beef hash and poached eggs I would’ve had trouble finding something to order. The corned beef hash was nothing special, cat food from a can essentially. Don’t get me wrong, I love the canned cat food, but you can get it anywhere. The hashbrowns were not great. Hashbrowns are one of the measuring sticks my brother uses when deciding on where we eat breakfast. I look for good cat food, he wants good hashbrowns. We’re easy to please. The server was nice, pleasant enough, and didn’t bug us. The host was slightly aloof. He either didn’t speak much English, or we were bothering him. Or both. I’m sure we’ll be back to Lumanis at some point. There are only so many breakfast places in the area that aren’t packed to the gills on weekend mornings.

I have been to many«family» type restaurants, and this is the WORST! Don’t go here! It was recently called Peppercorns, but the name and management changed for some reason. The place just looked old and dingy. Some of the vinyl seats were ripped. They probably should have fixed those, before changing names/mangmt. The waitress was nice(but sometimes rude), but wouldn’t stop talking, plus she didn’t know a lot about the menu. It looked like she was the only waitress there and she was all over the place. It took forever to get our drinks and I some bread. I had to ask her when she was nearby. Then, she couldn’t remember what drinks we ordered. We actually thought about leaving the place! Got salads and they were ok… french dressing was terrible. Food came and it wasn’t good. Kids meals of chicken strips and fries were fine. Chopped steak was blah and had no flavor, along with mixed veggies out of a can. Mashed potatoes were instant and gravy was not good. Beef stroganoff had tough pieces of meat that were blah and mushrooms tasted funny. The sauce was ok. Took waitress a while to come back with our check. We wanted to get out of there as fast as possible!
