Salons Within

Disappointed in my facial:
There was no one at the reception desk when I walked in Salons Within I waited for several minutes, while watching one lady get her hair styled, until another slyest asked if I had been helped yet. It is a no frills salon, so don’t expect to be offered any tea, water, or other beverages. The salon needed to be cleaned. The glass display shelves were displaying more dust than anything else.
The room where facials are given is a dark depressing room with dark brown walls, brown wrinkled sheets, and dust on the shelving. It is also RIGHT NEXT to the mani/​pedi stations — which was very loud! Impossible to have a relaxing facial. Patsy should have stepped out and ask them to keep it down a bit; or at least apologized for the noise after I made a comment that they sure are loud out there.
The facial itself was just so so. If I had to grade it I would give it a D. My skin did not feel better; it did not look better. I can do better at home. Patsy likes to talk, I know about her long hair dogs (Chihuahua), her health, her 2 sisters, her commute, where she worked before… but she never asked anything about me, or what I had planned for the rest of the day. It was all about her. The facial did come with hands being moisturized, and massaged, which is typically an enjoyable plus; sadly it was her finger nails that I experienced most. Not relaxing, not enjoyable.
I purchased a Groupon for a facial from Patsy, the esthetician at Salons Within, but sadly would not go back even for $ 1. It was a waste of time, and money.

I have been going to Mitch for a few months for color and haircuts. My style is awesome and I get lots of compliments on it. Thanks, Mitch!

First time at Salons Within my appointment was with Marliyn. She is fixing my hair, I colored it and it did not come out right. She highlighted my hair and did a great job. I’m happy I have a good stylist that knows what they are doing.

I have been going to Kristina for … 10 years?! She is so amazing! Despite my move to Colfax, I continue to make to trek to see her. I get so many compliments and am constantly giving out her cards. I would recommend to anyone. I love that she actually cares about my hair, and will tell me what to do to protect it.

I get my hair cut and colored by Dianne. I get so many compliments on the color!!! She does a great job. Highly recommend!

I go to Kathy Lauer at Salons Within. She is excellent with color and really knows how to cut curly/​wavy hair, which takes skill. She’s also a great person to chat with and very accomodating!

Ok, so if you are going to see anyone see Toy. Awesome haircuts and great prices. I am always pleased when I leave the salon. She is a mom and loves to talk and get to know you. I went to high school with her son so I was refered by a number of people and let me tell you totally worth whatever you pay. Its a fun friendly enviroment and while youre there youre pretty much treated as family. When youre done run over to Hagens Freeze. They operate that too! Totally a great family with great businesses!

I know some may wonder why i go to a Salon and not a Barber. The reason why is after getting my hair cut by Kristina i feel like i have my swagger back. That confidence and clean feeling like that old Spice guy. I’ve been to a Barber and places like Supercuts, nothing against them but i just know when i come here i know what i am getting myself into. i have been getting my hair cut by Kristina for 7+ years and unless both of her arms fall off I am coming here. Ok maybe that’s a lie there are a lot of great stylists in there that i could still go to. Don’t forget to go to Hagen’s next door for a tasty freeze equal to Merlino’s if not better.

I was a little nervous going to a new stylist after many years of having the same stylist, but after she had moved away I was introduced by a friend to Cristina domino. At first I was a little nervous gouge to a new stylist, but within the first five minutes of meeting her, the nerves dissapeared. Cristina completely made me feel comfortable and she had great tips and ideas for new styles that complemented my face shape and the type of hair I have. I would definitely recommend Cristina to anybody looking to improve their hair style!

I have been to many salons in the Sacramento area and this one, by far, beats out all the others. I am always satisfied with the quality of service for the price I pay. In fact, I drive all the way from Davis, CA to see Cristina Dimino who always knows exactly what I want without me even having to ask. I am constantly looking for a new style, but I never know what I want and she always delivers with a fresh new look that I love. Also, she is more than willing to work with my busy, sporadic schedule.

Is there anything more nerveracking than finding a new hairdresser? I was referred to Marlyn at Salons Within by my boyfriend’s mother, who has great hair. From the outside, the place doesn’t look like anything more than another building next to an old Hagen’s orange freeze but inside is huge and beautiful with many stations, nice couches, coffee and magazines. Marlyn made me feel instantly in good hands. I have long, thick and wavy hair that I hadn’t cut in ages and I just wanted someone who understood how to cut curly hair. Marlyn gets it. She’s experienced and confident, knows how to make my hair look good. She even explained to me why thinning is the wrong idea for my hair and I’ll say I’m never going to thin it again. She understood the style I wanted and cut conservatively and asked my opinion along the way so I would get just what I wanted. I recently returned and she gave me probably the best cut I’ve ever had. What more can you ask for from a stylist? Plus, she’s got a great collection of zebra print!
