The croissant was great — other than that, meh. The service was essentially aimed at getting us out of there. They gave us the crappiest table in the house — even though the place was empty. The table we sat at felt like a cheap hole-in-the-wall place, yet the price was fancy. We should have gotten 50% off just for that — since the only place they have going for them is the atmosphere in the main dining area. Overall, pastries and coffee drinks were just a sugar overload… Might as well go around the corner next time.

I split a Lemon Cheesecake and Strawberry Triangle with Foodie BFF Sharon. Perfect ending to our Sushi adventure. We just wanted dessert so we searched on Unilocal for near by places and found this place. The Lemon curd on the Cheesecake was not overly sour and the tartness balance well with the cheesecake. The Strawberry triangle was also a nice treat. The fresh strawberries cuddled by a delectable cream and sandwiched between airy crisp puffed pastries topped with Powdered sugar was so delicious. I moaned at each bite! The interior was charmingly quaint. Staff was courteous. They say us by the window in a corner which was nice. Not much of a coffee drinker but I tried the CAFÉ L’AMANDINE because the menu said it was an espresso with steamed chocolate and milk, almond syrup, a dollop of whipped cream and toasted almonds. My friend immediately said«Looks like something you would order» and I did exactly that. No regrets though because the slight bitter taste that hits you at first soothes on your palette when the chocolate starts hitting your taste buds. ‘Twas indeed a great pair for the desserts. Left happy & content.

This restaurant is in a charming French château setting. At the entrance, the have a bakery case with an assortment of desserts, patisserie, and espresso machine. If you want coffee and dessert ony, they have a formal lounge separate from the dining area with white table linens, formal table setting, pictures of France, jazz music and friendly service. My daughter had a hot coco and strawberry triangle, and my hubby and I shared an americano and a crème brûlée. The atmosphere reminded me of my trip to Paris.

We came here strictly for desserts, and that may have been a bad idea! We saw that it was a patissie on Unilocal and assumed that it would be a café setting, but instead it was a full-service restaurant. The employee behind the dessert counter upon entering the restaurant asked the manager if we could take a seat in the restaurant if we ordered dessert there. The manager agreed. When we were seated, the server was not in a good mood. We were given two cups of water filled with lots of huge floaties, we ended up not touching or drinking the water. Overall for a $ 15+ for a 10 minute dessert break at the Patisserie, it definitely wasn’t worth the experience. The crème brûlée was just OK and the chocolate mousse was a bit too heavy for me. Definitely not worth going out of the way to have desserts here like we did. Note: They charge $ 1.25 per cup of hot water!

I utterly hate writing a poor review but I also scored this place highly on the last visit but judging by the recent experience I most, likely won’t return again, I can overlook a lot if there are redeeming qualities like here where the décor was akin to a sleepy hotel restaurant or the fact the carpet being threadbare and seats being mismatched and some broken. I can also overlook the lack of seasoning in the food which combined with the aforementioned would be surprising to see a bill in the same range as some of the higher end restaurants in Carmel. What I couldn’t get past is the fact that there were 5 tables in the restaurant with children under the age of 4 meaning we were surrounded. This was at 6.30pm so not the early shift so we were a little taken back when the tables populated to reveal such a thrill. So what’s wrong with that I hear up you ask. Well three were fine, the nearest two were the root cause, we had a girl running round her chair, diving over it and treated us to vomiting Coquilles St. Jacques into her mothers hand just as our appetizers were served. To continue the show she then attempted to shove an entire profiterole into her mouth, dropped it on the floor so her father thoughtfully picked it up and let her continue the spectacle. Whilst this sideshow was happening a baby sitting on her fathers Lap right behind me decided to throw a napkin onto our table and attempt a drum solo on a glass with a knife through the duration of our entrée. We went fast for the check and on leaving wifey did mention our concerns to the staff of which they offered us a free dessert which was a nice gesture. Net/net at that price there was no redeeming upside and with such stuff competition locally I can only assume they catch the overflow tourist traffic from the other mainstream restaurants. I am sorry again to update my review as we did have a great time here initially so just not sure what’s happened but it felt like one of those unfortunate meals you have when you accidentally stay in the wrong hotel on a road trip. NOT a special meal in the 3rd most romantic city in the world ! Such a shame !

Best Crossiant Campagnard in the world, Perfection from start to finish. Small cozy restaurant. Love the food and the service. Worth driving out an hour and a half just for the food alone. I highly recommend this place. Can’t complain with fresh pastries in the front.

There is a giant pastry case out front. My friends and I were craving sweets so we stopped by to take a look. Everything in the case looked beautiful and I wanted to try them all. We actually came back a few hours later(after dinner) and found that most of the stuff was gone. Try not to go too late in the day because most of the items will probably be gone. I was pretty interested in this strawberry shortcake pastry(sandwich?) that I saw. It looked quite big and the strawberries looked very red. I’ll try to get this next time. I ended up getting a slice of the chocolate ganache cake to go. It was quite rich and delicious. The ganache(or was it mousse in the middle?) was quite soft. There is a $ 10 minimum on credit cards.

This place is a gem. I’ve been in twice recently and love it. The orange juice is divine, freshly squeezed and the coffe and hot chocolate enough to make you linger. The food is fresh and delish! So happy to ave this in my neighborhood.

I recently visited this patisserie on a trip to Carmel. It’s nicely located in downtown Carmel and is surrounded by cute shops and restaurants. We stopped by around 3pm for some coffee/tea and dessert. Overall, everything was good and the desserts were as pictured in most Unilocal photos. I’m downgrading my review from 4 stars to 3 stars for service and décor. The service was slow and I found the waitress to be unfriendly. Also, the restaurant is old and has a lot of wear and tear. The carpet and chairs definitely need to be updated. They also need to shut their door, because there were a ton of flies around our table.

My husband and I come to Carmel to have a romantic dinner once in the while. The atmosphere and the staff in this place were truly great, the food itself, however, seemed bellow average, especially for Carmel prices and such a prime location. We ordered dishes from Today’s specials menu and everything tasted like leftovers, I’m not kidding. The french onion soup was watery and had no flavor, my salad was soggy and tasted like those grocery store bags with prechopped lettuce, the main meals were just okay, husband didn’t even wanted to eat his stew. Sorry, will not be coming back.

I adore Patisserie! We have been coming here for years, and it stays consistently good. So many restaurants and come and gone in this small town, but Patisserie has held it’s own. Not only does it have good food, but also it’s own homemade baked goods. FRESH comes to mind. Definitely lunch, but dinner is also quaint and delicious. If you’re surfing Unilocal for a unique place that has the Carmel charm, this is it. Go and enjoy!

I love eating here. The staff is so friendly. I ordered the Carmel Garden Sandwich and the Harvest Salad. The sandwich had basil mayo. Let me just say in one word, magnificent. Just wow. Perfect lunch. We ordered the lemon cheesecake for dessert. It is a local recipe from the former Carmel fire chief. It was the best cheesecake I’ve ever eaten. Vey light and fluffy and the lemon glaze on top was so tart. Not to sweet. 5 stars.

Seriously one of my favorite places for lunch! Casual but elegant. I’m a huge sucker for the Cobb salad and French onion soup… they make their own unique dressing which I could probably drink by the glass lol. Also their pastries… they make EVERYTHING in house and are so delicious. I usually get the strawberry triangles but it’s always my go-to when I want to order a whole pie(specifically the banana cream pie topped with coconut flakes).

We were there for lunch the day after Christmas. It is a nice little restaurant. It has a fireplace and a Christmas tree, in a yellowish room that is warm and cozy. It is like you are invited to a friend’s home. First thing you see when you walk in are the colorful pastries under the glass cover that you want to try. But we didn’t have enough appetite after the meal. I ordered a quiche and it was excellent. My wife wanted to order a crêpe which was a special of the day at first. But she spotted a sandwich on a neighboring table with a thick fluffy bread that she’d never seen before. She ordered that. It turned out to be a turkey sandwich, but with their home made bread. Instead of thin, bland turkey slices you get in sandwiches elsewhere, the turkey they have are thick chunks that are juicy and flavory. The price is very reasonable, especially in Carmel.

The service was really great. The host and servers were attentive and nice. But the desserts were mediocre. Disappointed since this place has high reviews. The crème brûlée was very burnt on top. After requesting another one, they were nice to bring one. But the custard was over cooked. Probably one of the worst crème bruleee I’ve had. The bittersweet ganache cake was ok. We’ve had better and nothing satisfying. The tables, table cloth and layout of the restaurant could use updates. It looked like a lower end restaurant with table cloths that was too short. Nice service but I wouldn’t return here for the desserts.

My family rarely goes out to dinner together, so we were initially glad we found a restaurant with such a nice ambience when we visited Carmel. The tables were spaced out nicely, every table had an actual candle and a vase of real flowers, and the dim lighting was nice as well. The food, however, was not as impressive: Baked brie: delicious and baked just enough to give the cheese a great consistency. I didn’t feel that the flavor of the onions complemented the brie very well though. The onions had too much sauce so their flavor overpowered the brie. The menu also says the brie comes with bread, but mine didn’t so I had to use the leftover starter bread. French onion soup: My mom was unimpressed. The classic layer of cheese on top was good, but the flavor of the soup was a bit off – she said it was too bitter. Beef stew: Although there was a generous amount of beef in there and it was cooked until very tender, it tasted like they put too much cooking wine or alcohol in there. It was really strong and really salty. Chicken pot pie: It’s not a pie unless it has the flaky buttery crust… but this one didn’t. It came in a small pot, and the top was covered with mashed potatoes rather than a crust. This was surprising especially since this is a patisserie. The chicken and soup inside was really good though, well flavored and the chicken was well-seasoned. Service was okay, although our waitress almost confused our orders with others more than once. To sum it up, great ambience but mediocre food. Possibly good desserts, but I didn’t get to try those since they ran out.

My future epicurious trip to Carmel is ruined… because I’ll want to come back here again and again that I won’t be able to try other places! First of all, they were super nice about our puppies. We were seated by the window, so the puppies could sit on the balcony. 2 minutes later our waitress said to us that it’s OK for the dogs to sit near our chairs they don’t need to be outside. Unless someone complains, where we were sitting was private enough that the dogs can make themselves comfortable. Onion soup is a must here, just get it, so cheesily deliciously good!

We were enjoying our day in Carmel, eating our way around town: we had a great lunch, a very good cappuccino, and a yummy Napoleon… let’s just say we were having a fun food adventure. Enter the Patisserie Boisserie. This is where the day fell apart. Here we were served what could be compared to «hospital cafeteria food(no offense to hospital cafeterias).» We feel it is our civic duty to warn you of the incredible incongruity between the ratings and actual experience of this place. It’s a tourist trap, and we fell right into it. Décor was charming, the staff were welcoming, but the food was so bad, obviously prepped waaay ahead of time and lacking any depth of flavor. My boyfriend wanted to say something(and possibly recommend them to Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen nightmares) but we did not want to open Pandora’s box. Tasted like they used cheap, Sysco bottom-shelf quality ingredients. More often than not, items tasted like they had previously been frozen. Ingredients reused in almost every dish, to the point of one-dimension flavor. Onion soup base? Use it on the lamb shank as well. That tapenade they serve with the bread? Find it in the stuffed mushrooms. The baked Brie looked like a large chicken nugget– and the breading was stale and mushy. Don’t get me started on the cheap bread they served, a shame for a restaurant that has an on-site bakery. The bread basket at Le St. Tropez had more flavor and complexity than our entire meal here. I felt bad for the staff who are perfectly nice, because the owners decided to cut corners at every turn and serve the cheapest food possible. It’s not the chef’s fault if he is given horrible raw materials. Sorry but«nice» cannot undo the violations against our tastebuds! Where are these 4 – 5 star ratings coming from??? Perhaps we were there on an «off» night, but I’d give them a 1.5 — and that’s being generous. I don’t know what happened between 2014 and now(the majority of legit/elite reviewers giving it high scores were from 2014 and prior), but it’s bad. Skip!

2.5÷5 solid stars Review solely on their Banana Cream pie. The slice was a generous size, but there were barely any banana in my banana cream pie! I counted and there were about 5 thin slices altogether.

Came here after being turned down for not having a reservation at Dametra Café, and boy were we glad we were turned away! I am an absolute Francophile and always aspired to go to France to try the various foods and bask in the culture — hence my choice for taking French over Spanish in high school. Something about the pastries, baguettes, desserts, and cheeses that draw me to French culture… Saw this quaint place on Unilocal and headed right on over from our inn, Briarwood. I almost had a mini heart attack when I heard the hostess ask us if we had a reservation(which we didn’t), but was immediately alleviated when she showed us to a really nice table which had a lovely window! We actually came here at around 5:15pm and saw that they were opening at 5:30pm, so we decided to hop on the Unilocal page and see what to order. When we were seated later, we opted for the baked brie, french onion soup, sauteed/grilled pawns pasta, the chicken pot pie, and the bittersweet chocolate mousse for dessert with black coffee. Yes, I was indeed spoiled that dinner. And fatter. Anyways, you can’t go wrong with any of the dishes we ordered. The best thing is particular was the french onion soup(god, that cheesy layer on top was just orgasmic), chicken pot pie, and the bittersweet chocolate mousse(my mouth is still watering from the lingering taste…). I would give up my first born to eat here again. If I had a first born. Will definitely return the next time I’m in Carmel!
