Main Street On The Monon Apartments of Carmel

I lived at Main Street on the Monon in 2014.
As a resident, I enrolled in their online rent payment service. They couldn’t seem to get it right. One month it was debited, another month I would get a notice that my rent was late with a late fee! It was ridiculous and I brought it to the attention of Management, several times.
Around the 7^th month, I noticed that they actually debited by checking account TWICE! Considering that my rent was nearly $ 800/​month, this was lot of money. I promptly called them and told them it needed to be refunded. They said it was the payment processing company and not their fault. I said, they are YOUR VENDOR and you need to be responsible of them and give me my money back. They said they could not but, since I was moving out, they would apply it to my exit charges (hoe convenient for them!) 1) How does a management company of this size — Barrett & Stokely — not take responsibility for their vendor’s mistake and make every attempt to resolve it their customer’s satisfaction? 2) HOW DARE THEY say, hey, we’re going to hold onto your money and manage it the way we see fit. I asked REPEATEDLY FOR MY MONEY BACK and never received it.
When I ended my lease early because my work relocated an hour away, they used my $ 800 toward a «break lease fee» (which, btw, is a ridiculous amount BEWARE! 2x your rmonthly rent!) I said, fine keep it but you won’t get any more money from me. Not only had I paid all rent due, but also forfeited my security deposit plus the $ 800.
TO MY SHOCK, they put my account into Collections for additional break lease fees and I am harassed daily, at home AND at work. It is unbelievable! Barrett & Stokely is a terrible management company and I would say, not only to stay away from Main Street on the Monon, but to stay away from all Barrett & Stokely managed properties. Appalling behavior.
