I love this little bookstore. As stated in my secret garden review, this store makes me want to roll out my yoga mat and meditate for hours. I love the ambiance and energy in the store. It is perfect right next to the secret garden. It would be awesome if there was a way to have a very small space inside to do yoga. The energy is perfect for it. i love browsing this store.

I love this bookstore and the garden behind it. It is a wonderfully charming place to buy my favorites things– books, incense, crystal jewelry and more. The staff is so kind and friendly as well. Just a terrific energy in there!

For a small place, they had a really well curated fiction section. Definitely stop by!

The Secret Garden, tucked away behind the bookstore, is a serene space that is absolutely perfect for picking out a gift for a family member or significant other… Windchimes, bubbling fountains, Buddha statues… knicks knacks errrrrrrywhere.

Been coming here for many years, and it just keeps getting better. I love Pilgrim’s Way for being a space of calm in the middle of Carmel, where you can wander in off the street, browse their fabulous selection of metaphysical books, and other wonderful gift items. The Secret Garden in the back is the most beautiful space… lots of great gift ideas as well, and a space for their visiting authors to come and give talks. The vibe is most pleasant, customer service is top notch, and the owners are delightful. Carmel’s last real bookstore! It’s a gem, don’t miss it if you’re in town.

I have always been in love with this store. Since I was in high school. It’s esoteric, meets local, meets garden shop. You can find local restaraunts cook books, dream interpretation books, books on meditation, and also buy a statue of the buddha. The side of the shop starts their garden shop and the back is a atrium filled with more merchandise, like soy candles and beautiful signs for the backyard. This place is whimsy and wisdom. Love it.

Went in here with a friend and baby in tow to get some Christmas ideas. Long story short, they have an amazing eclectic array of books but their customer service is non existant. There was no employee at the register and when I walked to the back to browse I heard talking and saw a couple male employees in the back office that looked at me yet said nothing. Um… Really? We continued to look around then walked out having not been aknowledged. I really want to support local businesses but its lack of customer service like this that makes me want to just order from Amazon! Sad. Three stars for books only!

Cute little book store offering all kinds of things that make perfect gifts… Pilgrim’s Way is a hidden gem like it’s counterpart The Secret Garden.

Love this magical little bookstore and garden. Reminds me of a smaller version of Gateways bookstore in Santa Cruz, which is no longer in business. Has an old Carmel feel. Good stuff.

The last book store left in Carmel! The Pilgrim’s Way is a real oasis in a by-the-sea of galleries and crappy trinket stops. They have good lectures and author events in the shop on occasion. The owners are seriously cool people. Great energy in this store. I wish more shops in Carmel were this cool. It’s so nice to take a breath of incense-fragrant air and step away from the pretentious monstrosity that downtown Carmel has become. The relaxing atmosphere and great metaphysical book selection make this one of the best book stores in the Monterey Bay area. This is the soul that Borders wishes it had. If you want something that is not in stock the staff will do their best to get something for you. Please consider ordering from Pilgrim’s Way and not the mega-monster online book website named after a river in Brazil. Your karma will thank you for it. By the way, the shop has a great web site.

Freindly, warm. Check out the back area for candles, interesting nick– nacks. Nice selection of locally-authored books.

Love this little bookstore! They have a great selection of self-help, nutrition, metaphyisics, and yoga books! I also love that one of the owners is a transplant from L.A. I stop by every time that I am in carmel which is like 3 – 4 times per year.

This is a gem of a bookstore in Carmel(apparently the ONLY bookstore in Carmel). I love browsing bookstores so make a point to visit this intimate bookstore everytime I come to Carmel. A great place to spend some time picking out a new book or two. It is a small shop but they have a very good selection of books on a wide range of topics and even a small selection of magazines. Prices are always the full price listed on the cover but in my opinion it is well worth it to support a locally owned business.

In the real dark night of the soul, it is always 3 o’clock in the morning. F Scott Fitzgerald Last night, I woke up at 3:11AM for no apparent reason. Perhaps it’s all the stress we’re feeling from a weakening domestic and international economy. Is it just me, my fellow Unilocalers, or are any of you out there starting to feel the pinch, too? What do you do when things get too hot too handle, when you need to open a release valve to let out some of the pent up steam? Sex, drugs, and rock and roll use to work; but now, I need something more restorative, something that may inspire me to keep moving forward in difficult times. I go to the Pilgrim’s Way Bookstore in downtown Carmel. Pilgrim’s Way is the last remaining book store in Carmel. The owners, Paul and Cynthia, are really nice and helpful and can help you find a book that may help with what ails you, that may give you a perspective, information, or an edge that could be helpful. They specialize in books on self-help, metaphysics and world religion, spiritual and healing, local interest, business, and cooking. They also have cd’s, dvd’s, incense, crystals, and jewelry in the store as well. They offer regular workshops on a variety of subjects as well as book signings, lectures, reading groups, and concerts. Paul and Cynthia own the business next door, the Secret Garden, which is tucked away at the end of a narrow walkway and features garden supplies and accessories and miscellaneous items for the home. It’s peaceful back there and very calming to walk though and enjoy.
