My husband has been taking his deer and elk to Frontier for more than 10 years. Frontier does an excellent job every time and is pretty timely about turning it around(2 – 3 weeks). The only complaint we’ve ever had is that they never call us when the meat is ready, we always end up calling in to check only to find out it is ready. This year has been a different story. We turned our meat in in early December and are still waiting on it today. I have called three times since December 21st. I found out two weeks ago that our deer went right into the freeze upon delivery and will be thawed out when they get time to cut it up. We requested cut and wrap and some smoked products such as sausage and jerky. After it has been thawed and cut, they will re-freeze it. This is the disappointing part — by the time we get it, the meat has been frozen, thawed, and then frozen again. Doing this really affects the quality of the meat. This is one of the major reasons we do not buy meat from the grocery store — we want it as fresh and natural as possible. We will likely be looking for a new butcher next year. I highly doubt that our meat will taste that great or be as tender as it should be based on how it has been treated. We are very disappointed.
