Tucked up among the hills and trees of a remote spot in Carlton, OR is a steel building(or two) that kicks out what every home brewer wishes he could. A fifteen barrel(230 gallon) capacity brewery that has the capability to bottle all the beers he makes. Henry, owner/brewer/host is a guy that has accomplished a wondrous goal. He listened to what all the folks told him(as I can imagine): «Henry! This is great beer! You should bottle and sell this stuff!» He decided to do just that, it has proven to be a success. We tasted about 8 beers total ranging from a light-bodied Kolsh-style lager to a full-blown stout that had great balance and a smooth flavor profile. There is a small section of his brew shop as you enter that is segregated for tasting and sharing of information. The tasting flight was $ 5 for 8, with bottles and growlers available for purchase. He will also fill cornelius and sankey kegs for take-away if you would like to take larger amounts home. All in all a pretty cool experience and a very enjoyable personality that likes to share the love he has for beer.

I was biking from Portland to the coast and stumbled upon this gem nestled in the hills. I had a few glasses of the Bad Henry IPA and consider it the best IPA I’ve ever had. Henry is a good guy and dedicated brewer, and I have no doubt his other brews are exceptional as well.
