The owner is one of the kindest farmers we’ve met during our vacation in McMinnville. His vineyards are cared for with the awareness of a person well connected to the land. A quaint tasting room surrounded by sunning farm cats, happily clucking hens and feisty sheep, you are sure to delight in supporting this locally owned/operated winery. And just wait until your taste-buds experience the wine!

If you are looking for an authentic, local winery you can’t do any better than Carlo & Julian. With tastings that are a fun, social event and many wines to choose from, Felix makes you immediately feel like you have known him a long time. Full bodied and complex, his wines are just delicious w/food and can hold up where other Pinots may falter. His small and intimate winery and his warmth and friendliness are what make me keep coming back, time after time.

We adore this authentic, unpretentious little winery! My friend & I have been coming down for the special Thanksgiving Weekend event in the area every year for quite some time and we always make a point of coming to visit Felix to taste & buy his amazing wines! As mentioned, naturally there is Pinot Noir but several other varietals that are quite enjoyable and better yet, affordable! Our annual visit here is always a highlight of the weekend, where we practically feel like family — last year we even got to meet Felix’s dad who was visiting!

While in the little town of Carlton, OR, which is a growing downtown winery walking mecca, be sure to stop in at Carlo & Julian winery. The tasting room is in the barrel room on the actual winery premises. They make several types of wine including Pinot Noir of course, but also some varietals not always found in Willamette Valley: Tempernillo and a red blend of six grapes that can’t even remember all of them – but it was delicious. The wines are very reasonably priced and no tasting fee. What? We were even more surprised to learn they grow all their grapes on their small-sized vineyard right there in Carlton. A must visit for anyone looking for a nice unpretentious winery.
